You've got a working Amiga 1200? Christ! I'd say they're few and far between these days.

I never associated the Amiga as much with piracy as much as I did my old Amstrad CPC 6128. I used to swap Amiga games with friends at school but it was always legit games that we swapped, but before my Amiga I had an Amstrad CPC and I used to always get loans of games and about 90% of them were pirated games.

Unfortunately the games on the Amstrad CPC were pretty ****e. At least the Amiga had good games. I used to be a hopeless Elite 2: Froniter addict. Lemmings was awesome too. And Worms. The PC version of Worms is crap because you can't create your own levels. There's no excuse for that. On the Amiga you could create levels in Deluxe Paint. I used to love playing with my mates on our crazy made up levels.

Mind-reader... :D

My Amiga A1200 has an 8Mb expansion pack, giving it a whopping 10Mb of RAM. That said, most games fair zip along on it. My girlfriend actually has a working A1200 too, but it's at her parent's house.

Sensible World of Soccer = Best Game Ever.

Sorry to go off topic, but I used to play Sensible World Of Soccer for hours on end. Masterpiece.

Should I point out the burnt GTA games you have on your PC? Is that any differet to obtaining an illegal copy on the console game?
I said console.

Also, please don't post things about what I do privately without my consent. ;)

What, you mean I can't even tell people about what you did with that hairless cat last week?

But I really don't see how a computer is any different to a console.

I said console. It's not different in forms of illegality, but anyway. I don't particularly want to discuss this here. I don't think it's right to be talking about your own personal illegalities on GTP. In fact, it's against the rules. So if you wish, we can discuss this further on MSN. ;)

Although that is true I think that's what this thread is basically about now. Anyway I won't discuss your problems ;) I'll discuss a hypothetic character, let's call him Jimmy E, wait that's too obvious, J. Enslashay , let's say this character has a burnt copy of a GTA game on its computer, I think this is no different. I mean whether it's on PC or PS2 should make no difference what-so-ever.

I had an accelerator card with 8Mb RAM and a 33Mhz 68030 CPU. And I had a 110Mb hard drive. Vroom vroom!

The Amiga was one of the most pirated formats ever.

The Amiga was a format ripe for software pirates to exploit. Because everything came on floppy disk and it was so popular, it was an obvious target. PCs and Macs weren't game machines then and the consoles at the time were all cartridge based. And cartridges are pretty much impossible to pirate.

These days most formats use standard CDs and DVDs with standard file systems for their games and with blank discs going dirt cheap and consoles like the PS2 easy and cheap to modify to they'll read DVD-Rs, they're ripe for piracy too. You can get a DVD burner for $50 these days.

The only exception is the Gamecube which uses a proprietary optical disc format. The Dreamcast also had proprietary disks.

I haven't come across any pirated PS2 games though. I knew people with PSX's who had more copied games than legally bought games.

Also, it's not what this thread is all about. It's about San Andreas being Pirated.
Well I'm the only one trying to bring up anything slightly piracy related and you're telling me to drop that

I haven't either, but I have a friend that keeps trying to let me give him my games to burn them (he has a chip etc.)..that just ain't happening, especially with SA!

At least 60% of people I knew with a PSX had hundreds of copied games compared to maybe 3 legal ones

I've never had a Pirated console game. I never wanted a chip. I have 2 next-door neighbours (well one is 2 doors down the road) that can chip PS2s with ease, and they've offered me, but I don't want to. I've never trusted them, anyway, even though I know there's not much that goes wrong. I will never do it.

I chipped my PS1 to play imports and it completely fooked it. Never ever will I chip a console again.

Yeah, that's the thing. I knew about 4 different people who had to buy new PSX's or PS2's because their chips were screwed. I know it's because it wasn't done properly, and I could get it done professionally, but I really don't want to. So eh.

My laser just would't read the disc and I had to turn it upside down to get it to play any game. After searching the net I found some modchips caused this. I was not happy. 👎

It's not the first I've heard of it. But a quick twiddle of the white wheel at the back will sort it out.

I was considering getting one of my 3 PS2s chipped to play US/Japan NTSC games. Specifically NTSC GT3... :D

Three PS2s? Isn't that kind of overkill?

Although maybe you're loaded and you have one in your Monaco home and one in your skiing lodge in the Rockies.

I keep buying knackered ones off eBay. I intend to sell them after I've fixed them, but I just never get round to it.

A 2 PS2 iLink will be making its way to my house shortly (although I suspect I may have to upgrade that to 2 network adapters for GT4). I have considered a 3 PS2 iLink with GT3, for the panoramic view thingy, but can't be arsed, frankly.

It'd require the purchase of an iLink hub. Given that iLink is no longer supported by Sony (and, according to WasteGate, they had some trouble remembering what it was when they DID support it) and the hubs were already as rare as rocking horse excrement, the "Benefit vs. Reward" chart is tipped heavily in favour of "Don't bother".

That's a new one.

But I did notice I hadn't seen them around for ages. Thanks for that bit of trivia (I guess), never knew that. Always thought iLinks were around, just not as much in Australia.
