Where to begin?

A few random facts:

I have lurked since late 2008 when I found out about this place on Gamespot through a complaint by a (probably banned) member about the so-called strictness here.

I am a total social retard in reality.

I study Mechanical Engineering in a (2nd rate?) Polytechnic and have an accumulated GPA of 3.9053.
So far I have found myself in the top 10% and have topped 1 subject for each of the 1st 3 semesters (out of 6).
I will find out about this detail for the 4th semester in a couple of weeks.
Unfortunately I cannot really remember anything taught from the previous semesters. :dunce:
It is halfway through my 6 week break right now, between semester 4 and 5.

Yes, I am actually a sort of slacker which shows itself in point below this. I just don't seem interested in proper work or school.

I just posted a 1100 word essay on how to further improve GT5 in the non-forum feedback section. (It took only 3 hours of my life :dopey:)

I gained confidence to join after my anonymous comments on a Skyrim bugtracker triggered some positive activity on the main unofficial-patch topic. (A quest called "Blood on the ice". :))

I frequently view the GT5, car news, car discussion and rumble strip sections.
(And the banned-user log :nervous:)

I see myself as a sort of idiot-savant, just a bit less of an idiot and much less of a savant.

I chose to learn and passed my driving test in a manual car 6 months ago on my 1st attempt even though I could have done it automatic-only and will probably never drive a manual car ever again. :dunce:

I suppose the above is kind-of cool since I am as fit and as able as a 20 year old (corpse).

My username originated from Planet Hot Wheels 10 years ago. The screen told me it should be cool and the number 48 came from the number of valves in a Lamborghini V12 (or my imagination, I hope it was the former).

My internet connection can be splotchy so I avoid playing online player vs player games.

When new stuff pops into my head I will probably edit this post, which took me 45 minutes to compose. :dopey:

Edit addition:

Forgot the 1st post must be checked by Mr Mod, sorry for the length and randomness! :)

I would post some stuff about the recent Need for Speeds but it seems too much like a thread-necro-something. (And I don't really play them nowadays.)

Welcome to :gtplanet: No shame in anything here. You seem like an intelligent person and your grammar is fine so you will be fine.

Welcome to GTP!

Things in common:

Fellow lurker.
Engineering Student

Things not in common:

3.9 GPA.

Former lurker here aswell. :D

Welcome to :gtpflag:, I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here.

Heh, thanks for the replies. :)

About that GPA, the problem is that Polys in S'pore are considered 2nd tier to Junior Colleges so in some way I am a relative dunce (:dunce:).
Especially compared with all the dang JC/International school educated overachieving siblings/cousins of mine.
(One cousin was apparently top student for the A-levels equivalent in her Malaysian hometown.)

In Poly, good luck finding toilets or staircases (hate the lift) that are free of empty cigarette packs and buds and don't stink of ciggie smoke.
(Not supposed to smoke on campus but enforcement is non-existent and the lecturers casually joke about students performing such acts.)

Might as well also post a few more random bits of personal trivia:

-My E-maths was the best in my secondary school and my only O-level A1, but my A-maths was one of the worse in class.
(Eventually got a B4.)

Hence I liked to joke that I got As for E-maths and Es for A-maths. :dopey:

-Rarest car I remember getting up close with: Lambo LP550-2 V.Balboni at the fancy used exotica dealership near my house (that was gone within a day ). Also remember a roped-off 8C coupe at the official Alfa dealer. (Spent more time ogling in the Lambo shop next door at the LP560-4 Gallardos. Sadly, all were locked as they had been sold and there weren't any Murcielagos.)

-Nicest car parked within 20 meters of my house: Stranger's grey Aston Martin DBS with orange interior and the auto transmission. (Also took a good look at the wheels and details to compare with NFS:Hot Pursuit's.)

(S'pore is supposedly the Monaco of the east.)

-The funnest car I've been driven in: relative's (6-speed auto) 2009 RX8 (limited use of his legs but he somehow got an 80's Firebird when he studied in the USA!).
Another has a FD2 Civic Type-R but I'm not really close enough to feel comfortable riding in his car.

-Most powerful car....: Rented, late 2010 Kia Grand Carnival with the 3.5 somewhere in Australia.
My mum and her cousin had wheelspin half the time moving off from standstill. (They blamed an oversensitive accelerator pedal. :sly:)

-The fastest...: A 2007 VW Passat with the 2.0 T engine being test driven by dad.

-I have driven 3 cars in my life:

2010 Toyota Vios 1.5 with 5-speed manual (driving school's car and the same I passed the test in (with a wonky clutch on that day :grumpy:) )

2008 Mitsu Colt 1.5 with CVT (wish it can have a bit more (insert J.May mocking J.Clarkson) PAAHWUUH)

2010 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 THP (138 HP with lotsa' torque and a 4-speed slushie box that my dad thought was the 6-speed EGS )

I wish I could have tried out the 2004 facelift Mazda MPV that was ditched mid last year for the Citroen.
Loved the fact that the 3 rectangle front bumper design sort of looked like that of a series 8 RX7/Mazdaspeed RX8.

Also loved it's rareness and the sound of the 3.0 MZR/Duratec V6.
(Only saw 2 other post-2004 facelifted models in S'pore and Malaysia, though it was probably the 3rd most common car I noticed in Japan behind the Toyota Estima and Alphard. :) )

(Shambles off looking for the 'random facts about you' thread. :) )
