wow i did an oil change on my crz and it bumped up the hp from 110 to 124 <.< max is 122.

thanks kaz!

I've already done all of the mods that I can do plus the aero and I can still only manage 2nd. I'm running a good race and I'm in 2nd going into the 4th lap gaining on the leader but I'm still a second or 2 from catching him.

The leading A2 is faster than you in straights so it's important to maintain speed at the bend before that final straight. My lap time was around 1:19 and was able to get to 1st at the last high speed bend (lowered height and tightened spring rates. Gearbox also upgraded).

Yeah, the one with the Fiat 500 on Tsukuba :yuck:

I've been trying it a couple of times but no matter what, I always fail in 2nd position, totally out of reach of the leader (5-6 s gap).

I tweaked the car a bit (changed the transmission for a close 5) and been running consistently lap times between 1.21.0XX and 1.21.5XX, which seems the very best I can get out of the car considering my average driving skills :dunce:

Is there anyone here that was able to pull it off? Any tips to share?

Same here, I'm managing to run 1.20.XX times with a manual tranny.

I'm using a fiat with a sport air filter and window weight reduction. Puts the car right at 1,000 kgs.

Still, best I can do is 2nd with a 3-4 second gap.

Im considering putting a fully customizable transmission and setting the max speed at 70 MPH and seeing how that fairs, maybe quicker acceleration?

I started with SSR5, got 2nd place first try. Tried again and got 1st. Did Indy and Deep Forest as well, also got 1st. Doing Tokyo R246 now. They're not really hard or anything, but they're still fun to do and give much exp and cr.!
It would be more helpful to many if you inform on the setups you used rather than just write 'I came first' ;).

I have just tried the Fiat one; came 2nd twice but got close. I reduced the weight and added the filter (because I thought they were fixed, then realised they were maxs and mins :dunce: ). Switching off all aids makes a difference though, and as others have stated it does give us something different to do from the usual stuff.

looks like the fiat race is one of the tough ones because Im keep coming in second place

It was pretty easy.
Late brake into the first corner.
Go wide to the right after the kinks (Turns 2 and 3) for turn 4 then tight in as you hit the apex
In turn 4 you can go over the green kerb
Turn 5 just tap the brake or just let go of the accelerator a little then back on
Turn 6 though 7 flat out and late braking into Turn 8
Turn 9 no need for the brakes either

Setup:
Racing filter

Aids:
TCS off
Skid off
ASM off
ABS 1

Lowest max speed possible is 83 MPH and that's what I used on the 500.

In my closest race, I finished just 1.010 seconds out of the top spot. Next time I attempt it, I am going to try the window weight reduction.

To save anyone any heart breaks, if you are 5 seconds back going into lap 5, reset because you will NOT catch the Audi A2.

I'm very close with stock 500, did lap of 1:20. I know I can improve a bit more in some turn, should take turn around 70km/h, that should give me high 1:19.

Gonna try to beat that one on stock cars ^^

Nah mate these seasonal time events are shocking. Ive been doing the SSR 5 laps using a Nissan Skyline GT-R V Spec 96 483BHP. The cars i have to race against are Ford GT, Audi R8, Dodge Viper & so on. The max BHP car u can enter is a 493 & the car u have to use is a Nissan Skyline. The best i can do is 8th place & thats throwing the car around the track. So i have no idea how the game reckons u can do anything faster is beyond me.

Finally, some events you can't just power through :)

I've already got gold on the CRZ, the RX-7 and the Challenger events.

I have gotten silver on both the GT-R and the 500 events.

I think I can beat the 500 one later today, the GT-R one I need to find about 5 seconds on the leader.

This event is similar to the 1-Lap Magic of GT4, namely, you most likely have to be around a certain car at a certain point in order to get gold in this/these events.

This event is really interesting. I wish every race in GT5 was the same difficulty as this. 👍

Did it on my 3rd attempt with a stock 500 without corner-cutting or contact with other cars. Took the A2 on the back straight of the last lap. :)

Using now sport air filter, window weight reduction, 5-speed close ratio tranny and height adjustable suspension.

I was able to lap once below 1.20.000 and the gap is coming close to 2 secs. Will give a try with drive train enhancements.

The Audi is on my reach now!

Thanks for your input guys :)

Almost all of these events can be attempted and won in stock form, except for the 4th event where stock form would be moronic to attempt as the Challenger's TS is 110 MPH then and you'd be killed on the straights.

super fun, the fiat challenge was a pain to start with but its basically all down to your first lap. you have to do at least a 1:20 to have a chance. from then on you can do the rest as 1:20s and catch him easily.

i did a 1:19 on my first lap, 2 more 1:19s and then a 1:20 1:19 and had overtaken him by the 3rd corner of the last lap lol.

oh forgot to add, make sure you get the full customised gearbox if you can afford it, and put the max speed as low as it can go for faster accel.

also, i did mine with all aids off including ABS, turning ABS off helped me go from 1:21 laps to 1:19-1:20 laps.

Yep. Just letting people know that if you want a challenge, you don't have to customise the car in any way to win. Keep the momentum up on the hairpins. 👍

I have to admit I had to cut the final hairpin and slam the 1st place car head on in order to win :scared:, but I liked it (and the other challenges) nonetheless. Reminds me quite a lot of the mission hall challenges in GT4, but with a bit more freedom.

I have already Golded all but the GTR race. I had changed the oil in my GTR and it does not qualify now. I have Bob out driving it now to drop the power a bit and will run that one too.

They were fun but not to hard. If you use aero parts and adjustable suspension they will be easier and in the Challenger add the adjustable tranny and rasie the top speed by about 30-40 mph and you should be fine.

I did the same thing in my RX-7. Changed the oil now I don't qualify to race. :(

yea i wish every event in a spec had more limits than "unrestricted" like hp limit tire limit weight limit etc it would give it more of a game value and be altot more fun and rewarding once you win

Damn these events sound like a lot of fun. I can't wait to get home from work later and try them out!

Fun races and you got a lot of money and exp.

For the first one I made sure my 500 was at the max specs and drive as smoothly as possible. 1:20 flat or 1:19 per lap are necessary to get 1st.

Just limit yourself... that's what I do.

I look at the "typical opponents" list and modify my car to match those HP/KGS limits. Since the AI in most events is pretty sloppy at taking turns you can actually run a weaker car (underpowered) and still win most races. I'm currently working on just how much power I need in my RX-7 Bathurst for the Japanese Championship in A-Spec Expert, I'm down about 40HP from the AI guys and its a tight race.

What GTR do you lot use for the SS5 challenge?

I did have a Vspec, but changed the oil and it's now over powered. My R32 doesn't cut it.

Happened exactly to me, dam spent about 300k and that Vspec, suspension, tries and wight reduction and stuff like that, then Did the oil change.. Finished 2nd with my R34. I can't win it with this car, even I finish 2nd first is still about 20sec ahead.

I'm on the same boat as you. R34 is probably not enough.
