i tuned it so, window weight reduction, semi race filter this makes your hp and wieght limit within permissable

next purchase everything in drivetrain

3k option on suspension

and next is perhaps the most important tip, to purchase CLOSE 5 speed transmission

and the last tip for the race is to brake very late into first and 2nd to last corner, with these upgrades the car handles very well.

Any aero parts?

I can't do better than second on the first challenge........ tuned the fiat as much as it would let me and I am running 1:20.5 laps (besides 1st one) and the closest I have gotten is 4.9 sec behind the leader.

CR-Z, Skyline and RX-7 where easy for me (used Stock Cars) 2-3 Tries though. (DS3 by the way) Realised that I could tune them
=> after beating them I maxed the Cars (inside the regulations) and it became super easy

But the Fiat challenge: 3 times 0.5sek missing -_- Doing 1:20.3XX-1:20.6XX because of AI cars. Can´t get under 1:20 and my first lap is always crap.

Didn´t do the Challenger Challenge, because i need to buy another one (RM-ed the first one -_-) and I am a bit angry (because of the 500thing) => PS3 is off for now

Don't try an oil change for the extra 2 hp in the fiat.. I got second with it stock and thought I'd try and find that extra 2hp and now it's over and I have to buy another one (or drive it to wear the oil out). Not a big deal to me, but it is annoying.

goodness, slow cars are my bane. I tried basically every setting combination, and everything I do seems to make me go slower with that damn 500.

wait till you see the challenge after - its in an electric honda!!!!!!!!!! I actually found the second challenge alot harder than the first

Like I said earlier, the trick is to brake as late as you possibly can (a few times I thought i was actually going to go off the track) but you will surprise yourself with the level of grip you have, and to take one car at a time, try always to watch where he will brake then go later, it will be ok, my times were low 1:20 and 1:19.

Hope this helps Abriael

This challange is stupid, how are people getting 1.19s and 1.20s?

I have done the semi racing filter and window reduction, FC gearbox lowered to 87mph, sports suspension and all aero set to max downforce and can only do low 1.21s.

I haven't broken a 1.19s lap yet. I've been consistently putting down 1.20s and 1.21s which is not good enough to win this event.

Lower that downforce to 5 (it is not needed), and buy the close ratio 5 speed. I think I had the suspension lowered some too.

Don't run into the back of any cars and just follow the braking advice others have given in this thread, it helped me get first with a DS3.

Anyone that could put a replay of the tsukuba race on youtube would have my gratitude. I guess my lines simply aren't good.

For Gold, I got low 1.21 on the first lap, then 1.20 and some high 1.19s

Aero body kit applied, full transmission, full suspension, sport air filter, window weight reduction

Aero (rear) - 5
Max Speed 87 MPH

Ride Height -20 / -20
Springs 4 / 4
Dampers 4 / 4
Dampers 4 / 4
Anti-Roll Bars 3 / 3
Wheel Alignment default

AT
All aids off except driving line and abs set at 1.
Used DFGT

At the start of the final lap I was under 4 seconds behind the leader.

Just did it.

My times where roughly:

-1:21.3
-1.20.1
-1:20.2
-1:20.1
-1:22.4

Just drive smooth and consistent, aim for a speed of 70km exiting most corners and makes sure you are within 5 seconds of him at lap 5. I was 4.776 seconds behind coming into the last lap. What I did, frown upon me if you must, is I barged him on the second to last corner. It worked and I won though so don't doubt me. :)

I had everything tuned that I could, and used a Close 5 speed transmission along with all the aero parts. I didn't fine-tune anything though.

In case this helps; I have just golded the first three events using the same strategy, and will try the other two tomorrow.
- max HP to the requirement
- reduce weight
- buy a custom gearbox and set according to the track or as required, eg at Tsukuba low top speed.
- all settings off
- win

Keep your speed through the corners guys.
That Fiat makes up all of it's ground in them.

I'm pretty sure I had the fully adjustable transmission for that one.
I adjusted it all the way left then one to the right.
On the final long sweeping right hand corner before the finish line, I'd start on the outside left.
Stay flat out and cut hard to the right.
By the time you hit the green rumble strip, you scrubbed off enough speed to downshift and continue to keep the pedal floored.
When done correctly, I'd be back on the outside left at the end of the corner but never going into the grass.
The gas is floored the whole time.

These events were awesome, just done all five now - the Fiat 500 is probably the hardest, actually! Won that one by 4 tenths, passing the Audi A2 around the outside of the last corner.

Key there is just to be consistent, don't make contact with other cars - a laptime of low 1.20s every single lap (except the first lap, obviously) should see you catch the Audi A2 just in time.

That was awesome though, just what GT5 was missing - we need more restricted races, close racing like this was very fun, more please PD! :)

Challenger event was the easiest. I don't consider myself an amazing driver but I got 2nd the first time, then first place (by about 10s) on my second attempt.

Yeah from what i've managed so far, average low 1:20s seems enough, as i've come within 3s or so of the leader with a mixture of 1:20s, 1:21s and often a 1:22 (annoyingly) on the first lap. But I haven't swapped out the tranny at all yet, just added the cheapest light clutch plates/flywheel, so hoping that'll be the clincher.

i have a report from some dude on another forum that e completed in the first category last race and won 1.000.000 cr and 100.000 XP

Well it's written in the description of the race that, that is the prize you get, so the report is correct :)

Can you be sneaky and use a JGTC Skyline? I'm sure I saw one that matches the BHP and weight limits exactly :P
I can come 2nd easily in the GTR Proto, but I still finish ~4 secs behind.

I came here to say the same thing. Low 1.20s and you'll have no problem, I made a mess of the last corner though, too tight a line and caught up right on top of the apex, so I had to slip by on the dirt winning by 0.140 :)

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but do we have to buy the cars in order to complete?

It seems I have none of the cars for any event.

edit: Also, are the cars that we need all premiums? I'd hate if we would need to search for them in the UCL

My ignorance and the fact that I finished the download then had to rush off to work, but what are the payouts if any? I saw someone mention 1mil as I was skimming along

The payouts are pretty generous. The 1 million credit/100.000 XP is the reward for the last race, the first one gives you 200.000/15.000. The rest is between this. But you can only win the prizes once, like in the special events

What GT-Rs are you guys using?

im struggling with my r32... 487hp at 1240kg fully tuned and i cant catch 2nd place.

I used the R35 Vspec with full suspension, drive train, transmission, all aero options, and weight reduction. made the race very easy
