Seasonals going monthly

Personally I'm expecting to see something tomorrow.

Everything available on the current list ends on the 24th.
Tomorrow, being 2 weeks before that date, would seem to be a good time to start the new schedule.
They can release some events, sit on their hands for 2 weeks (which falls into the 'every other Thursday' schedule) and then add more when the existing events finish.

Speaking of the 'every other Thursday' thing.
To me, someone has made an error in the news item.

"Race Events
(1) The frequency of updates will be changed from “Every Thursday” to “Every other Thursday”;
(2) The entry period for regular events will be changed from “2 weeks” to “4 weeks”."

Race events always were on a 2 week rotation.
Other wise we would have had 6 Race events available at all times.
I don't recall that being the case.

Anyway, I guess we all know what they mean.

No error in the news item.

We got new TT's and 1 week later new A-spec races, so seasonal updates every week.

Now we will get new TT's and two weeks later A-spec races, so seasonal updates every other thursday.

Fair enough, I shouldn't have mentioned it.

The news item should read like this ...

From 27 August 2015, the following changes will be implemented to the Seasonal Event updates of “Gran Turismo 6”, available exclusively on PlayStation®3:

The frequency of updates will be changed from “Every Thursday” to “Every other Thursday”.

Race Events
(1) The entry period for regular events will be changed from “2 weeks” to “4 weeks”.

Time Trial and Drift Trial Events
(1) Ranking registration time period will be changed from “2 weeks” to “4 weeks”;
(2) The entry period for regular events will be changed from “4 weeks” to “8 weeks”.

And yes, I was being fussy pointing it out.

I'm actually okay with this.

It's about time to put my PS3 away and play something new on the next-gen console or PC.

So, here we are.

The events will be like normal but twice the length. However the prizes are outrageous. I have slight idea if this game is coming to an end and still no one certain huge feature.

PD is way too slow and thats the main huge problem. Results are while the games itself isnt unforgivably bad, they cant catch their ever growing competitor and its shows.

Looks to me that PD/Kaz have/has given up on GT6 because of a drop off. what did they expect? this is what comes of releasing half arsed games and then relying on regular-or not so regular as the case is here- updates to complete a game that should have been sold complete and made better during it's life time with expansion/dlc.

I personally don't care for online racing, drift, or TT. i thought GT5's career mode was bad but 6 took the biscuit. the seasonals for players like me is a great way to sort of expand the career mode. in short i simply can't see PD releasing 6 new race events a month in one shot.

Had a look at the seasonals this morning and all that's there is the standard 2 drift and 2 TT events. i expect it will be the same 3 race events in 2 weeks time for me.

If there was an alternative to GT i would switch to it and never look back. i've got a PS4 and Driveclub and can't stand the game. haven't played project cars and hesitant to waste any money on that in case i don't like that either.

Oh well, might have to dust off the FAT and get GT4 out again :(

I can relate. I have a PS4 as well, none of the racing games there even come close to the GT franchise. I bought Pcars and never got into it. For those 60 Euros I could have paid a speeding ticket, that would have been a thrill at least.

I never cared much for GT 6 online either until I joined these guys over at the makeshift shuffle club:

That is really a lot of fun, racing in mostly low-power cars on comfort tires... if you can abide to a few basic rules of racing.

Had a look and far too many rules, regulations and checks for me. i understand the need for them but i simply can't be bothered with all that. i've been gaming ever since this came out....

Showing my age now lol

I've been into gaming for as long as i can remember, and that was before Star Wars graced the big screen. i simply want to race for half hour to an hour max and then relax. can't be arsed with stupid online twits, and rules and regs just to get a decent race.

Give us a seasonal/race creator, and a track creator and i'm happy.

Edit, and more classic cars ;)

few basic rules
I see the thread. The rules itself made me vomit.

But if you have fun from it then congrats :)

Well the increased prizes are there, it seems, but imagine my surprise when only 4 events, 2 Time Trial and 2 Drift Trial events showed up. That's what we got before.

I hope GT7 will be more realistic , and the tune sheats A/B/C where we can have the 3 diff rims and aero kit´s and wings on every sheats

It's just disappointing the game isn't updated more. There have only been a couple new cars besides the vision gt cars. It seems wackadoo there isn't a game out for the current generation machine yet, and it's still likely that's more than a year+ from hitting the ps4. I thought polyphony digital had lots of money, doesn't make sense we aren't anywhere close to a new game being released yet.

Considering GT5 was released so late in the life of the PS3, it's not that surprising tbh mate.

I was always mind boggled with this game on how you could put side spin on the "ball" by slicing just at the moment of contact. Someone put the extra thought into it there.

I am quite impressed with the prizes and the amount of credits they give you for getting gold.

Really? At this stage of the game, credits should be insignificant as your bank should be at max all the time, really. Personally sick of seeing 10's of millions getting refused because of limits. Why do we need a limit? There really is only so many cars you can buy. I'm at around 400 and I try and buy as many as I can without just buying out whole dealerships for the sake of it, but how many Miata's or skylines can you realistically use? Long two weeks till next seasonals:indiff:

You mean GT6? Because if 2010 is considered PS3 end of life then GT6 release is basically when PS3 already enters heaven, probably.

No, 5 came very late in the life of the PS3 (considering it was one of Sony's flagship games), 6 years after the PS3 was released i believe. if they were going to release a 6 then they only had a couple years to do it because the average life of a console is 10 years-give or take.

Not quite:

PS3 debuted in late 2006.

GT5 was released in late 2010.

2010 minus 2006 equals 4 years (not 6).

I'm not sure if studios keep producing games for older systems once the next version is released, but 10 years is a little long for an estimated console lifespan. It's more like 5-7 years.

Don't forget GT5 Prologue was dropped in late 2007 for PS3. It was the basic GT5 package.

A mix of TT and actual races would have been nice. If I wanted to drift I'd play NFS. Six, three TT, three real races, would have been ideal.

No one has mentioned this "Although the frequency of the Seasonal Event updates will be reducing with the above changes, we plan to have more events available at each time" So shouldn't we of got 4 TT and 4 DT?
It's still the same 2 TT 2 DT just prizes bigger/cars.

PD's concept of "more" seems to be kind of like their concept of "soon". It doesn't match anyone else's concept of those words.

@TJ13 I was going to mention something immediately after the new seasonals were posted, but I figured "Why bother?" I'm sure I would get some supporters, like yourself and nowcontrol (you've both just shown you're upset like I am) - but I didn't really feel like hearing from the diehard GT6 supporters, who I'm sure would tell me to be thankful that they're still providing us with new events and the payouts are so big now, so I shouldn't complain...etc...

Yeah, I'm beyond bummed about this. I don't compete for my best possible lap time in the Super Lap events. I get my Gold and move on. So, this new system basically means that I have to make due with the three A-Spec races for an entire month! Three races to keep me entertained for a month...how thrilling. :( 👎 :banghead:

Doubling up on the number of events is the least I was expecting/hoped to get, 2 of each for road cars and 2 of each for race cars.

I am a bit disappointed and I'm sure many others are too. :(

Very very very disappointed is the least amount i can say. Love the credits and prizes, But 4 events every two weeks is just ridiculous, And even so when these two events seem to just be able to be smashed by "Perfect" cars instead of just tuning ability alone (im not the best tuner but when i cant even scratch gold and then smash it by a few seconds with the same pp then somethings up). Sorry had to rant, I never complain about the game but this was just a bit too much this time.

Yes, indeed.
Disappointing effort really.

As you say the prizes increased.
Prize Cars on offer now for TT and Drift events, as opposed to just A-Spec races, and quite expensive cars too.
Plus paint chips for Silver and Bronze.
And also plenty of credits.
So no complaints there I guess.

But to see the standard amount of events was disappointing to say the least.
I thought we may have had a chance to see the 'Survival Race' or 'Overtake Challenge' events make a come-back.
Or maybe a mix of TT's, Drifts, and A-Spec races.
Or even just more TT and Drift events.
They did say that they 'plan' to have more, but they had 2 weeks to sort something out.
And now we're lumped with these 4 events until Nov.

Anyway, what's done is done.
Let's hope they lift their game in 2 weeks time.
