Sebastien Loeb Challenge

I need help on Chamonix, I've got gold on the first two but snow has me bogged down haha

-I only have silver for Chamonix, can't verify the time. Will Skid Control really make a difference?

It will. It's a lot easier with Skid Control Recovery set to On. Just stay calm, don't slide around too much, brake earlier rather than late. I did that and beat the Gold by 8 seconds on second try. I would have gotten Gold on first try if I didn't brake too late and drive in to a wall. :P

Hmm, I never found these that difficult. Maybe it was just because I'm a huge rally fan and I try to do them as fast as possible. Anyways, I put the driving line on, but I completely ignored the red brake line and I was getting golds by more than 5 seconds.

Thanks mate, will try as soon as I can play. And from what I've read in this thread, don't trust the gear indicators either?

Ok, I'm having loads of trouble here.
I used a pad, skid recovery, tcs 3, and no abs or asm or active steering.
And I'm still coming in 20 seconds short of bronze on Eiger :dunce:

Trans: Auto
Driving Line: Off
TC: Off
Skid Recovery: Off
Active Steer: Off
ASM: Off
ABS: 1

Just missed the Gold in Toscana by 0.322 seconds. I will nail this :P

EDIT: All on Controller

EDIT 2: Got ^ That on 3rd attempt, 7th attempt brings me Gold with a time of 1:57:150
The advice on this page alone made me know that my previous attempts at this where the settings fault and not my own :)

turn on abs on 5...

actualy with tcs 3, abs 5 and skid r. ON it was pretty easy for me...

I hate Chamonix. I managed to beat the Toscana and Eiger gold times by 4 seconds each, but Chamonix I can barely scrape bronze :(

Edit: Alright. Smashed it by 5 seconds :)

Here's my tip: Read the instructions! It seems obvious but after reading those I realized what I was cornering all wrong. Turning the driving line on helps too, usually the red areas on corners mean brake, but in this case you want to brake before the red areas, preferably turning them purple/blue so that you can gently throttle around the corner. Beware though, the driving line goes red on a couple of straights and it's totally unnecessary, brake in those areas and you'll see the ghost car disappear over the horizon.

Thanks for that. Golded by 5 seconds now.

It's interesting, I just decided to mess around with the aids and turning ABS off helped me a lot on Toscana, so I don't see why 1. it ever worked in the first place and 2. why it didn't work at Eiger.

chamonix is unbelievably frustrating. took me ages but when I did actually do it, I got silver. Just take the corners slower than you feel you should and you end up being quicker over all if it makes sense. lol.
Try to kep the car straight instead of drifting it around at max revs.

I recommend turn everything off on the settings except for ABS and leave it on 1 just so you can brake harder more efficiently or only have to concentrate on the brake for a split second when trying to position the cars nose coming into the corners.. I have all golds, the first 2 I got on the first try, but I was pretty tensed up so maybe that helped....
On the eiger you can lightly bump the walls, wasn't my plan i bumped them twice, but with the back of my car drifting out leaving the corners, I don't think hitting the fencing on the way in will get you by... good luck to all to finish them.
Like most people have said... just stay calm.. it will come eventually

The first two was relatively easy, Toscana I even did with TC off and ABS 1. Eiger however I resorted to putting TC on 1. It took me a while, but it was damn fun.

Whenever I did Eiger it did seem like I was a couple of secounds off. The key and where you can gain a lot of time is by beeing smooth and gentle in the downhill section. A mistake there cost you so much. Try to keep as much speed as possible through the steep uphill section, then just find a rythm while going downhill. The first time I got a smooth run down through that area, I almost passed the ghost car at the bottom. I beat the target time by six secounds, even though the ghost car pulled away in the uphill section, probably due to TCs enabled. I don't mind though, TC probably saved me slightly in the downhill section, as I usually spun out there before I set TC to 1.

Charmonix however, gave it a go, then saw I'd been sitting for hours with the Loeb challenge, turned on Skid Control, won by A LOT of time then went to bed. Then I took the WRC to the French event in Amateur series (; Now I just need a pickup truck :P

Also protip: Use Manual gears, and stay one gear higher than the indicator suggests. It is SO easy to spin out if you're in a low gear and floor the pedal. It also makes the car behave more smoothly when approaching the corner, as opposed to downshifting just before you turn in. Automatic transmission has a tendency to change gears when you least want it to :P

I've been pretty decent with rally in the past, but these events are a tough cookie for me - at least I have to memorise the track before I can get gold on them. :) Managed to do the Eiger one though - ABS on 3, the rest off. The biggest help was turning off the cockpit view though, as that track is drop dead gorgeous! Wow! Certainly helped memorising it :)

Oh, in case there are any automatic drivers out there who start fretting every time someone recommends being in a certain gear... I did all of mine in automatic, each one 4-5 seconds faster than the required gold time :)

alot of questions like these always seem to have a common answer, you will be faster with a wheel. i manages gold in 2 of the challenges on my first go.

MidianGTX i always found in previous GT games that the auto didnt necessarily give you the right gear in rally. it always nice to know if the car drops in revs you pop into a lower gear, and ultimately will help with traction and acceleration out of slides and hairpins.

There is some good advice in this thread.I've been having trouble just getting bronze and tomorrow after work i will try to atleast get bronze on these.

Im glad this thread is here 👍

If you're having serious trouble turn on skid recovery force, it's a real life saver. Otherwise try and mimic Loeb's driving style when he is in front of you. If you see him braking early or flicking his car into a turn then you'd best follow his lead. Like others i've found skid recovery to be like an auto win setting it shaves ALOT off your time.

You know when I tried the first stage at Toscana it says you have to beat the ghost car to the finish. But really you don't, even to get gold, just thought that was strange.
Anyway, I would say watch the demo run if you need help.

Just like how everyone said, you need to drive extremely smooth to avoid disqualification but a little aggresively to beat the clock with alla ids off.
But if you turn on ABS to 10, turn on Skid Recovery, you can overtake the ghost without any aggresive driving or infinite re-tries. That's how I did it.

Ok from a rookies standpoint this was my huge mistake. After trying for 2 hours to pass Nordwand and missing bronze by more than 30 seconds I figured out my problem. It was the damn racing lines. As rookie I tend to take them for gospel and on road courses I get by pretty well using them but in this case they will slow you down ALOT! A lot if the time when it is red you can be at full throttle. Once I realized that, and don't ask why it took me 2 hours, I passed gold by 2 seconds. I think this was Kaz's way of pissing off the rookies. I was at the point where I wanted to find Loeb and pinch him!! LOL

Edit: just to back up my theory on the racing lines i just passed Chamonix the 2nd time trying it with silver. This time I used the racing lines just so I knew what direction I would be going and didn't pay any attention to what color they were. For those pros that don't use the lines anyways this probably won't be much help but to those rookies like me that up to this point put a lot of faith in that line turning red this should help quite a bit.

1st challenge: completed.
2nd challenge: the best I could do at Eiger was 2 seconds slower than bronze. Most of the time I got disqualified before the end. Not completed.
3rd challenge: I haven't even finished one lap. I keep getting disqualified for bumping into the barriers. Not completed.

I'm going smooth but that seems to be useless, even after watching the demos.

Hey guys,

any advices on the Sebastien Loeb Challenge? Seems to be impossible for me. :/

Are you using the Driving line aid? if you are - turn it off. It's full of crap. Or just use it as a reference. I got gold in all 3 with 1 abs on (nothing else - except for driving line). Following that line always leads to trouble.

I golded the Toscana with ease, but the Eiger and Chamonix, I can't even get bronze.

I saw some people said to use the skid control to get gold but that really seems like a sour thing to do on dirt.:dopey: But if I can't at least get bronze soon, I might see myself cheating it out.

EDIT: Just turned on the skid recovery force and I golded Eiger on my third try and golded the snow one on my first try. I'm glad cause I really wanted that car! I'm still gonna try to improve on it without the skid force. I feel drity, now.

WOW It worked! First try using skid control and I was under 8 seconds of the par time in Chamonix!
