RC2 was one of my favorite games of all time... but i don't think this will live up to it... I mean graphically, it will blow it out of the water but that is obvious... but from the demo, the handling seemed way to arcadey and from what i've seen it doesn't look like there'll be much variety in the types of racing in SRR... In the demo, you've just got your connected "loop" tracks... In RC2 and Dirt, you've got Rally stages, Crossover, Rally Cross etc... and Dirt actually has more variety than RC2... It has all the racing elements of RC2 plus the Rally Raid, Buggy, and Trucks n such.... I have been very pleased with Dirt, particularly because it reminded me of RC2 plus more... sure Dirt isn't much of a sim but its a better sim than SRR...

Force feedback on the G25 is great in Sega Rally Revo (demo). Feels like you're strapped into a Sega racing game at the arcade. All the dynamic track deformation is felt in the wheel and the steering itself feels excellent, though purely arcade in style.

Contrast this with DiRT (demo) on the same wheel. Absolutely terrible, mushy, disconnected steering, and virtually no road feel. I'm pretty disappointed with it, seeing as all wheels aside, I'd be more interested in buying DiRT.

For me, Sega Rally Revo makes a great technical demo, and the steering is pretty sweet. There doesn't seem to be much depth to the gameplay; hopefully the full version is expansive enough in fun/features to warrant a buy.

I'd say the deformation is fairly ground breaking. In Motorstorm the deformation was pretty lame compared to this imo.

I wouldn't say lame, but I don't think the tracks left on Motorstorm really affected your vehicle this much. In this, I could see my car bump around on the grooves.

But speaking of such, I don't recall ever seeing hard-packed gravel get grooves in it like this, except when heavy trucks drive over it. Either those cars are several tons each or they are always driving on beach sand and I think neither of those are true. It would be nice to see ruts where there should be: on beaches and snow and mud, and none where there shouldn't be: on gravel and packed dirt roads. :)

Yeah I know. They go a bit over the top with the deformation. Probably because they're really proud of it.

This game is taking forever to download. So far its been just over an hour and its only on 26%. It's pathetic.

Speedster, if the download is slow, then it is likely they game play will be slow as well. When you say download, are you downloading the demo for your computer?

No, I'm downloading off the PSN Network Store which is on the PS3. Its downloading straight to the hard drive.

Its on 53% now.

It took less than 10 minutes for me to download it. It could be any number of things, your ISP, the network, intermediate servers, etc.

If it's slow and irritating you, just set it do download in the background and do something else. 👍

I'll will warn you though, if you do not like arcade rally games, you are not going to like this demo! It makes DiRT feel like a hardcore rally sim by comparison.

I would agree on ALL accounts.

So I've been downloading a game that I don't think that I'm going to even like now.....Aww Great..:grumpy:..I'll carry on downloading it though just to try it, if I don't like it then its off....

It can't be my network doing it as...well my network is on full possible speed...

I got the game today and there is loads to do. will do a full rundown later if anyone is interested.

I may try the game with the DFP tomorrow and see what its like, this game has been geting some high review from magazines, 8/10 and 9/10 didn't think it would be so high.

I wasn't too impressed with the Demo, probably won't get it. There are too many good games coming out in the next few months.

Well after more play, SRR is bags of fun, and thats before I use the DFP.

Here is a quick rundown of stuff on offer.

3 Championships:

Premier
Modified
Masters

Each championship has a set amount of league's.

Premier has:

Amature
Professional
Expert
Final

Each league has a set amount of challenges with a set amount of races.

Amature - 3 challenges with 3 races
Professional - 3 challenges with 3 races
Expert - 4 challenges with 3 races
Final - 1 challenge with 4 races

Each race earns you 10 points and thus unlocking further races, miles you do in each car unlocks liveries for that car. There are 32 main cars altogether unlocked by gaining points and finishing 1st in races / championships / league's / challenges. Also there are some hidden cars too, or so the game hints. There are 23 tracks with 6 of those reverses of others, these are broken into 5 categories:

Safari - 4 tracks
Alpine - 3 tracks with 2 reverses
Canyon - 4 tracks
Artic - 3 tracks with 2 reverses
Tropical - 3 tracks with 2 reverses

Also there is support for all the Logitec wheels. There is allot to unlock and do, thats before I mention the really aggressive AI who ram you into the side any chance they get. The demo doesn't do this game justic, its more of a rental.

SRR.....Good lord I hated this game.

I am so glad I deleted the demo. The graphics although good they may be are poor compared to some of the other stuff seen on the PS3. The handling is ghastly, I know I don't like arcade games but come on, the steering is way too light it reminded alot of OutRun 2006 but Outrun was alot better. Yes, I will agree that the deformation on the tracks is good but no way near as good as Motorstorms. Seriously if the demo reflected the full game then I am glad I never even considered buying it.

I agree the handeling is poor, but it is an arcade game. I didnt like the demo either, but ive found its filling the gap of RR7. I also loved the original game too. It will be great fun online too.
