Wasnt sure exactly which forum to post this in, but since the news page said this years GT award car will be included in a future GT game I figured this section would be appropriate.

Anyone going to, or at Sema this year? Who is in the running for the GT award, what is your choice? I think it is a trave-sham-mockary if these guys get glossed over again this year. This car is stunning and screams Gran Turismo!

This would probably be better in the Cars in General Section as it pertains more to real life awards, even though they will affect GT6.

.. I think having this thread for general discussion all through the GT award process will be a good thing. Seeing as it does directly affect GT6 I think we're in the right place.

So, does anyone else have any favourites for us all to drool over before we get any true info on nominees and the eventual winner?

Very late edit that's probably worthy of a new post: I've found out some more info on this pretty little pony...
2013-ford-mustang-gt--built-by-ringbrothers_100406749_m.jpg

It's built by a company called Ringbrothers

MSN.com
The Ringbrothers Mustang GT starts with a 5.0-liter V8 and six-speed manual. To that Ringbrothers adds a supercharger, suspension upgrades, Baer brakes and a carbon-fiber body kit. It uses waterborne paint for the exterior, which is better for the environment and meets new standards for low volatile organic compounds. Big wheels with rubber-band tires complete the look.

Me likey :)

Yay, another car that will roll over and die if you mention the word "corner" in or around it.

Does this thing have the live rear axle that Noah thought was to old fashioned to install on his ark? :D

Spoken like someone who has idea what they are talking about.

See: Boss 302

Personally I really don't care about these one-off cars being added, I'd much rather they use their time modelling stock new cars, not modified ones. Just my personal opinion.

I'm with you. Give me 2 regular stangs (V6 and V8) and I'll be happier. The time invested to model the extra tuner apparel could be used to make multiple versions... its just badges, specs and wheel changes anyway.

I just don't have any desire to drive someone elses personal car, I want to take an original car and make it my own, not drive one persons one off car.

This isn't a one off car, it is intended for anyone interested to buy any or all of the kit parts or send your car to Ringbrothers and have them give it the full treatment. Also in talks to have the parts Ford authorized. So they can be purchased and installed at your ford dealer.

The R and backwards B are their trademark Ringbrothers logo.

As far as handling goes, it won't be an issue. All their cars are meant to be driven and meant to be driven fast. They use top of the line suspension and brake components, and structural re-enforcement as necessary. The car is also supercharged, so it should get going very well also. This car will be kicking much higher priced cars in auto cross events all summer long.

First, I'd like to see the other candidates that could win the GT Award. While I'm not trying to jump to conclusions, I think that this car in particular is getting attention since it's a Ford Mustang Boss 302, one of the most requested cars by the community.

Although it is an awesome car, it's too soon to say what car you want to win the award. There might be another car that is as good if not better than this one.

R1600Turbo
While we're on the subject of SEMA cars, I'd like the red/black/white Genesis Coupe at left:

I'm with you. Why are the genesis 2.0t and v6 coupes not in GT5 to begin with? I mean come on PD! It's the best thing to come from Korea ever and they leave them out?

But in the mustang subject, they should have a proper v8 manual mustang in GT5. Or a fox body coupe and hatch,my preferred choice!

PD has been photographed recording sounds from a Genesis Coupe and Veloster Turbo. Likely to appear in GT6.

I'm excited to report I will be joining Kazunori Yamauchi as he walks the floor at SEMA tomorrow, visiting and inspecting all of the finalist's cars.

I'll try to get a blog post together tomorrow afternoon featuring all of the cars, so you guys can have some fun and try to guess which one he'll eventually pick as the winner.

Depending on time and cell coverage, I will also try to give a preview and post some pictures of some of the cars we are visiting on GTPlanet's Twitter feed.

Are you going to the awards party with Snoop Lion too? What an honor, and fun time to hang with Kaz.

Be sure to check out the Ford booth for the Ringbrothers Mustang, even if it doesn't win the GT Award it is an impressive piece of machinery. It is kind of a cool story of how the whole car came together as we'll, I am sure Mike, or Jim Ring would be happy to speak to you about it if you are interested and or have the time. They are usually obligated to be in the BASF display with their other car, just tell them who you are and you know Chris from Gemini. I am sure you will get some great stories.

Have fun!

Jordan will you give him a copy of GTPedia?
Is there going to be an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi involved or is this purely a SEMA experience?

What do you know about live axles and driving powerful cars? What's your point of reference? Or are you just taking cute, little cheap shots? Why don't you try growing up, living and experiencing instead of popping off...
