A JGTC car nowadays has about as much in common with the source material as a NASCAR Camry does with the things you find on rental lots. And it's going to get even moreso in the next few years when they change it to just be DTM but in Japan.

Now, if the BreezeFrees was built to a specific set of regulations, then I'd understand. But that one doesn't look like it's built up nearly that much. They didn't even completely gut the interior on it.

The Mach 40 isn't like the Trans-Cammer at all...

Nope. Mustang Mach 1 + GT40 = :dopey:

Leaving the stock dashboard doesn't count as completely gutted? As far as regulations, it'll compete in time attack racing, so...

I think the Mach 40 may have a better chance at winning the GT Award. Among the many Scions and Subbies, a rear engine Mustang/GT40 hybrid certainly seems much more unique.

That said, the Evasive FR-S is really enticing.

I'll have a chance to interview each of the car owners which are finalists in the competition.

Do you guys have any questions?

I can't make any guarantees I will be able to ask it but it's worth a shot.

Have you ever played a GT game and (if so) what would it mean to you to have your vehicle featured in Gran Turismo?

That's be a question which would bring about some very interesting answers in my opinion :)

That one sort of stuck out. It was classic American Muscle, with the Ford GT drivetrain.

The other four were customized, the Mach 40 was completely redesigned.

Man that things going to be a handful around the ring. I think it's absoloutely great that (as GTPorsche pointed out) this isn't a simple paintjob or bodykit but a completely one of a kind vehicle.

Congrats to the winner and I look forward to Jordan's interview with KY :)

Soooo, should I ad this awesome car to the GT5 Master Car List or to the GT6 List ?
I'm thinking more about the later.

It would make more sense for GT6, remember they haven't added Mark Steilow (the Camaro ZL1 designer) and Mary Pozzi's Camaro into GT5 at all. I think all of the new Best in Show customs from SEMA, the Tokyo Auto Salon and Concours D'Elegance will end up in the next game as opposed to the current one.

You said it. 👍

Saw that one on another site, and hell, it deserved to win.

I look forward to this!

I would have also accepted the Beetle but this is awesome as well. I personally can't wait to race this against the Camaros chosen the last two years.

Best part is, it's not an ordinary Mustang. Love cars where the engine is placed in a different location. I wish we could make cars like this Mach Forty in GT and Forza.

It is a shame this car was not nominated:

Imagine, for a moment, this scene taking place way back in the 1960s:

"Ford has so much success with the Shelby racing program in the US, they had the new Indy motor that they wanted to get more development out of, they wanted to promote the Mustang more in Europe, and Martini Racing was just coming about. So the idea behind the car is that Ford contacted Martini and asked if they would do some testing on the Indy engine if they gave them some performance parts from Shelby."

It didn't actually happen, but it's a unique bit of historical coulda-woulda-shoulda-been described to us by Peter Harksell of Pure Vision Design. Its Martini Racing livery is enough for us to make us take notice, but the real story is the Indy Car engine underhood. It's an original Ford Indy engine from the 1960s, originally displacing 251 cubic inches and revving to a stratospheric 9,000 rpm.

The mill was rebuilt with the street in mind, now fuel-injected and measuring 300 cubic inches, and it boasts a wide and flat torque curve with over 300 pound-feet available from 3,000 to 7,000 rpm, maxing at 362 pound-feet. Horsepower comes to 426 at 6,900 rpm.

Just as importantly, the Mustang T-5R is built to handle with a modern suspension system from Detroit Speed & Engineering. Kept to just 2,300 pounds all in, this 'Stang is bound to be a serious performer.

I also feel like this Hyundai is about the only Hyundai that has actually made me excited:

That's definitely some kind of Mustang, the Mach Forty. But what about this?

"The base horsepower can be dialed in, literally there is a dial control in the car, from 600 to 850 HP." -eckertsrodandcustom.com

How would that work in Gran Turismo? Will they give us one or the other? Perhaps 600hp stock and upgrades that give 850? Personally I think 600 would be the most fun to drive.

I'm also curious about how the wheelbase and track ended up. Classic Mustangs are a touch longer and narrower than modern MR sports cars and if they had to strech the car at all, to make room for the drivetrain, the car could be prone to understeer.

It's a very interesting car. I can't wait to try it out some day.

I don't know the specifics on the car, but I would assume it's just a highly modified Mustang body on a Ford GT chassis.

Judging by the one build photo with the Ford GT cockpit shell in the background, I'd say that's right.

Great choice by Kaz. Its a truly unique car and really, its a wonderful idea.

Since probably we will get this car on GT6, maybe tthat dial thingy will become a part of the RA menu along other features? :dopey:

As for the body, I believe it just has the shape of a Mustang, I'm saying that the body panels probably aren't even from a real mustang, maybe except the front and rear parts. I could be wrong though. :ouch:
