Seriously, what's with the samba van?

Vehicles like the Samba Bus embody the spirit of the GT series. They don't all have to be super fast racing cars. Some of them can be oddball vehicles not really intended for racing. The Samba Bus was the first car I bought when 1.10 dropped. I just wish you could put more power in it. 98 horsepower may be enough for N100 or one makes that are slightly less slow but I wish you could give it closer to 200.

I'd take all those over fantasy cars like the Chaparral 2X (2X referring to the number of times you will be killed on a typical lap).

You just need to keep in mind that the main source of downforce is the engine ;)
Brake in a straight line and accelerate through the corners. Never lift in a corner, because then you kill all your grip.

My best result in the seasonal time trials in GT6 was with the 2X.

yeh I like that maxing out positive rear camber and lowering it looks so nice.
Its one vehicle in the game that I would like to modify it for a narrower front beam.

I think that's the most pathetic thing I've seen in my life and that's saying something when you've seen Leeds play.

This included things like Renault 2CVs, Beetles, and that weird little Daihatsu truck from GT5.
Can't wait for PD to bring the Renault 2CV, Citroen 204 and Peugeot R4 to GTS.
The Midget II was in GT4, too and has always been one of the most fun cars to race alongside the VW T1 and many other small economy cars

Well the cars I named also don't exist :P

I don’t know what your talking about, it’s a serious racing car

DTgs8EBWAAAx8tm
NOOOOOO NOT THAT LIVERY

My 8 year old daughter love the van

She gets a kick out of racing it. She loves that she never has to tap the brakes because it's so slow.

She also loves watching the faster cars lapping her. Thinks it's funny.

I personally have no use for the van but I bought it (it's very cheap) because it takes me back to my original GT days

what I find crazy is that in VR i can drive the samba and 'feel' like I'm sat upright, yet drive the cobra in VR in the same physical sitting position and 'feel' like I'm slouching.

You haven't played GT5?
There was the Fiat 500 that could not get up the hill on one of the rally tracks :D

Player from day one in '97 and every title after!
And yes, the Fiats were pathetic but that hippy van at the Ring just made me feel sad!

Only 2X killed hey? You must be a good driver then. I'm pretty sure the average death rate in that thing is plenty higher. When I drive it, the name should be more like Chaparral 160X. (one death for each turn on the nurburgring)

I suddenly heard the unmistakable fweem of a VW engine.
Fixed that for you.

;)

Renault 2CVs
Renault 2CV
Renault made the 4CV, the 2CV was made by Citroén.

The Renault has a water-cooled inline four in the rear, driving the rear wheels; the Citroén an air/oil-cooled boxer twin in front, driving the front wheels.

I think GT league needs a samba 24h race where around ten hours in you need to pit for fuel, tyres, cocoa and a nap in the back.....

I like the bus, it's endlessly on "cars you must drive once in your life" lists, now I have.

Yeah, I found it the week the Sababus came out under the trending tab

I found one that was close to the one you used. If you can, can you pull up that livery from the GT Sport site and put the direct URL of the livery here? :)
