Hey guys,

I'm going to be getting S2U for the PC and I'm pretty sure some you will pick this platform too. So... I don't really have any friends who play racing games on PC (or any other platform for that matter), mostly MMOs :yuck:. That's why I wanted to see if anyone would like to create a list of EA ID's or w/e they'll be using on PC for autolog so we can all compare times, organize races, etc.

What do you think?

To find out what your ID is you can go to autolog's profile and it should be in your top left corner.

Good idea. I'll be getting it for the PC as well, so I'd be up for some races and to compare times in autolog. I'll be posting my ID once I get the game and know what it will be. :)
 
Probably getting it for PC too. Not sure yet what EA ID it will be yet, the whole EA ID thing is a bit screwy (had issues w/ the EA site and multiple IDs in the past).

Sorry to double post, but I just think some of the PC users havent seen this thread. I bet I'm not the only one who got this game for PC!

Hopefully if we get enough users we can organize some races for GTP members only in the future.
 
From my point of view of "serious" racer (iracing, LFS, GTR2):

- Shift2 is definitely NOT an arcade racer, the physics are solid and realistic for most of the cars (except some curious behavior for few) - no more sliding if you drive it like a simulator and not like a NFS Hot pursuit maniac. The gameplay is more serious than in the first one; AI is more clean especially if you drive WELL yourself, the experience is based on good behavior (follow the best line, overpass... ) and the career mode is closer to GT5 and F3.

- The handling/FFB setup is very poor out of the box, you really have to tweak it seriously if you want to really enjoy the good physics of this game - I'm on PC and some fix by JULS is now available to fix the input lag

- Graphics on PC is slighlty better than S1 with mods, the AA on high is still poorly done and flickering - on PC some tweak on the nvidia card (supersampling AA overide) help to get rid of these flickering jaggies... lighting is also much better too. Photomode is poor but replays are good and you can SAVE them (et least on PC) which is a nice touch

- This game was obviously developed for console first (XB360) and it shows on PC: poor textures, lack of optimization, poor FFB setup, Flickering jaggies in high AA.... I'm sure that once the mod gurus will enter the core of the game, all these will be taken care of.

- As you already know, Damages are really good but maybe not as good as they could be: you can damage your car visually but only a roll will really put you out of the race... I would like more inbetween were you loose gears, your direction is flawed, etc...

ALL in all, as expected, it's not perfect but on PC at least, the modder's community will make the difference at the end... so all is not that bad, and as said the one who played, it's really fun once you get pass or fix the current flaws

The Game DVD box only came with the game manual (SN# on back) and an insert for NFS Hot pursuit.
 
Im not sure. I've got it from Amazon and looks like we all got f... Either by EA or Amazon. Not sure by whom yet. But I hope we get some answers soon. I also didnt get no code.

Hm...but the limited edition cars do not show up in the car lot. They are nowhere to be seen.

Hey guys, EA must have just fixed something. When you get into the game again and connect to the servers, you'll get the cars and events. Just works converted LP640, pretty awesome :)

paytonlow, nice driving out there! Beating most of my times. I'm just trying to rush through all the events now, but soon I'll get to improving those and then we'll see ;)

I'm a little disappointed in how autolog only shows the fastest lap times regardless of class or vehicle. I prefer to drive around in slower cars most of the time, not works modified MP4-12's, and for that it seems pointless unless you agree with someone on comparing times in a given car. Unless I am missing something, and you can't communicate via the interface, so you need to have some meeting point like this forum.

You're not missing anything, this is one of the biggest flaws of Autolog. On PS3 & XBOX 360, both systems have independent communication tools built-in with the console; But on PC, no instant communication is presented unless you bought the Steam version which should support Steam in-game chat system.

Well, Autolog is console origin and EA seems not interested in supporting PC users...
 
Yeah, it definitely has it's mishaps. Hopefully they fix it in a patch or improve it in Shift 3.

Also, one thing I think would be cool is if you could create your own challenges for friends. Like pick a car, track, and set a time to beat, send the challenge on the wall, so people can accept it and try to beat it.

To me this game is really only worth it for the Multiplayer.

elite mode/no assist/manual gears/DFGT wheel on PC
Toronto, Canada. (Speak French and English).

I'm not the greatest pilot (just for an exemple: yesterday I achieved 1:57:xx on Monza GP with complete stock SE Murcielago in only 3 laps and 56:xx on the first test of the game in Suzuka with the GTR) but I consider myself as a clean and serious driver (not a bumper maniac nor a cheater)... I could probably shave off few seconds easily but I don't have too much time to allow to the game.

If you have more or less the same skills and road behavior, I would be happy to race with you sometimes.

I'm not sure, right now I'm having way too much fun offline, but I think PS3/Xbox are going to have much more users than PC. Just a thought.
 
Bought it today. Still learning the new courses, many of which I haven't seen before. Not sure if I'm digging the new physics yet. Feels improved in many ways, yet curiously lifeless in other ways. I think the force feedback implementation was better in the first Shift.
