The Panoz Esparante is also a good idea, hopefully Shoe67 can give this a run at LeMans as well.

Your mention of it, makes me think that I should give it a test at the 'Ring as well.

Thanks,
GTsail

I use the esparante on the ring 650pp seasonal. I usually run about 6:10-6:15. 6:09.172 is my fastest. Not too bad since I only have a ds3

There's nothing wrong with DS3s. Sure, it's not realistic, but, generally, it's possible to control the cars with DS3s.

Your times just aren't as fast (ie, not as much throttle and brake control(I use buttons) and the turning isn't as precise

Well, sorta... I use the L2/R2 as my "pedals." according to the real life position of pedals: left=brake, right=throttle. Much more adjustable that way.

What about shifting? My L2/R2 are shifting

Thanks. And also, I don't have a mclaren f1 so I will have to wait until it's comes in the UCD or I get a 23ticket
Ticket sacrificed... about 30 times over... but I now have one online, if you want to add me :)

Anyways, after a few stewards investigations/replay reviews, I'm definitely about to start one of the 24 hours. Wish me luck!

Considering this, I'll actually take the Peugeot 908 around, instead of the V12 LMR, just because I want to have a somewhat interesting race against the AI.

R10 and CLK are nice for close AI racing ;)

MrMelancholy15
Why are they SO slow?

Not sure about the CLK, but the r10 is the ONLY realistic LMP car in the game. McLaren f1 is the other one that is almost exactly real life specs

Nice thread and good idea. This should probably become the go-to link to provide whenever anybody asks those questions again, although it might need some editing when the unforseen questions appear.

Now if only I could figure out how to shave ten seconds off of my average lap time in my self-set-up 908 to get close to the times you say I should get in a completely untouched stock 908 on the same Race Hard tires. Although I could get 6 laps out of them easily without a big drop off in time on the last lap, so I guess that made up for a little of it. ABS and TC might make a little difference too, and I'm admittedly not the fastest and la Sarthe is admittedly not my best track.

I did find the AI times a tiny bit off, although erring on the side of assuming them to be faster is always best. I never saw an R8 run less than a mid 3:32 and they could usually only get 2 or 3 laps that fast then they dropped off a bit. The C60 Hybride is of course faster in ultimate lap time but will get lapped after a few hours due to it shredding its tires and running shorter stints. The one time I've run this, the Bentley seemed to be second fastest overall, although half of my race was drenched. The R8s did run 4:06-4:10s in 100% wet.

One thing that might be good to add(at least I didn't see it) is to never ever use full wet tires. At best I could just about match their lap times, but the tires wore out sooner than theirs. On inters I was roughly 10 seconds faster than them and the tires lasted longer than the fuel. I think I forgot to save the replay if I even could so I didn't check to see what tires they were on.

Another thing that would be very good to add would be a paragraph break or two. :)

Great thread man, really spectacular. 👍 👍 👍 :)

Sorry if this has Been mentioned in an earlier post, (haven't looked through the posts) but what is this "rain glitch" you speak of?

Good idea. A few para breaks might make for easier scanning. Well done - and thanks for the effort - very useful.

As for being stickied - added to Famine's FAQ's and Guides List would be a help in locating it quick in case it falls due to extended unuse.

Cheers, 👍
Harry.

There are other threads on that if you want more details. But when you suspend the race and turn your ps3 off. You turn it back on and wait at the menu until the weather gets to 100%. Then you click the continue button and it is raining. The AI are extremely slow in the rain, allowing you to gain a lot of time on them. I am not positive on that glitch, but I believe that is how it works. Do a search if you want more details.

Or whenever someone posts another of those "what car" threads, I give them a link (its I my sig) and that would prevent it from falling. Thanks for the support 👍

Ahh okay, makes total sense, thanks for clarifying! Sounds a bit cheap if you ask me :indiff:

Once again, only use it if you are in real danger of losing (as nobody wants to waste 20+ hours of driving

On the contrary, for all this glitch stuff, how did you find the AI drivers as tires/fuel wore down? From my experience, there will come a point where they're either underspeed, or just in the pits so long with each stop they're leads (if one is had) can be slashed. I've mentioned before that I don't refuel unless riding on fumes, and even then I only go back up to half a tank. Obviously, AI doesn't get that choice, so I've always found extra time in that manner. Never needed a glitch to claw back, and if I'm honest, I don't see how anyone should.

People have to claw back if they are running with a lower performance car. For example, I am going to attempt the 24h nurb race in a camaro SS RM... On paper it will have to rain for ~18 hours of the race for me to win... :nervous:

OK I did a quick test to confirm what everybody else already knows: The AI does use full wets in 100% wet conditions. So we should probably stop saying that they are horrible in the wet, they're not. They might even be better than they are in the dry. They just get screwed over by the fact that PD doesn't have enough respect for it's customers to give us the option to use proper wet grip in endurance races.

Then again, if wet grip was set to Real they might not be able to run the times they do now either. But that might help explain why a lot of people say things like "I'm faster than them in the dry, and I kill them in the wet, but they always seem to be faster than me when it's getting wet or drying out." Because that's when they are on inters.

So if you want a good fair fight with them in the rain, you can try wets. I seemed to run out of tire a little sooner than them in the 908 but with tuning or skill that can possibly be corrected. If you run inters you'll kill them, but it's not because they can't drive, just because they are told to use tires that are unfortunately useless.

On the other hand, I discovered in this test that I could run a solid 3rd in the wet on inters with a Camaro LM that I used my Nürburgring dry setup on, with a controller, leaning back in a recliner. I still don't think I was fast enough even without mistakes and on the wheel to catch the Bentley and whoever else was up there, either the Hybride or an R8 I didn't notice. Easily faster than everything else. Maybe with some practice and if I could squeeze an extra lap of fuel out of it, or if I could find those ten seconds I seem to be off.
