Should GT6 be a 2-disc game?

Thank you,u the only one that gets the point..more content spread out..and I'm glad I was having a conversion with people that made video games and they made it on blue-ray disc...space is not the issue..it's the originality of it all..

Yes, just what the GT series needs. More illogical and hopelessly impractical game design decisions.

im not sure the number of disks is important, but the scratch'n'sniff disks of GT2 need to make a comeback! My whole room smelt of burning rubber after the disk had warmed up for a bit, lol.

Of course it won't be a two disc games. You can use multiple layers with blueray so it won't be necessary two use more discs. If they don't have enough space on a single layer blueray disc, they will use a dual layer BD. ;)

Still utterly pointless. If everything can fit on one disc, then they'll put everything on one disc. No more unnecessary gimmicks please.

People need to wake up to this wrong opinion that the disk size is the limiting factor for more content. Anyone in the know was trying to tell you all that it wasn't the case before GT5, and since then it has been proven wrong. 25GB is more than enough, let alone 50GB if they have to do dual layer. The limitations are in the PS3's processing power and memory.

In the GT2 days Arcade Mode was actually big enough with enough unique features to be a big drain on processing power, in GT5 it only has a handful of cars and 100 Favourites. Not exactly a big processor drain, assuming your theory is correct, Fusion.

1 disc to rule them all.

I always found it quite a hassle to switch the "GT Mode" disc, with the "Arcade mode" disc, with todays technology, that is not necessary, and if PD did that, most likely everyone would laugh at them.

If the second disc was nothing but featurettes of everything GT (Academy episodes, Kaz's racing exploits, interviews, car shows, behind the scenes making of GT1~6, Kaz eating ice cream with Loeb and Newey, etc.), then sure.

Behind the scenes stuff? That would be neat. The could show us how they make engine sounds.:yuck:

How good or bad arcade mode was on GT2 has nothing to do with needing more disks on PS3. Arcade mode for GT5 could improve from GT5 and without an extra disk, and no, adding another disk wouldn't improve it further. The limitations to both arcade and GT mode are from processing power and memory restrictions. It's not a theory and is not comparable to GT2 in any way.

The original Playstation didn't have a hard drive. This coupled with the large amount of content in GT2 meant that load times could be drastically improved by having a separate disk for Arcade mode. This didn't allow arcade mode to "look better" or for the game to have more cars/tracks since both were duplicated on each CD. It was merely for each game mode to work more efficiently by being less compressed. But we aren't talking about 650MB per disk here. Yes, the assets are much larger now, but comparative to back then, 25GB gives us a lot more room to breath than 650MB did... let alone 50GB.

I think this is just a silly thread, surprised it has not been locked already ;)

A game should be on as many discs as it takes but no more than it needs. 1 BR disc should be plenty for pretty much any game in existance.
