Should GT6 have break ins?

JUST ****ING NO!!!

This is what grinds my gears, people that think everything IRL has to be in a video game. You need a solid line of what needs to be real, unreal and what needs to be left out completely in order to keep the game 'FUN'.

100% real in a video game does not equal 100% fun and most people will NEVER understand that.

Yes. Things like this and everything in GT5's GT Auto add to the responsibility feeling. 👍
Or at least make them an option.

Break ins irritate me. Purely from a tuning perspective though, as it means I need to actually run miles to make a premium car eligible to enter in shootouts and such. Not to mention PP limited races get annoying as you constantly have to tweak the power limiter and/or parts. But that's just me being lazy.

It gets in the way of fair racing as well, at any PP if one identical car isnt making the same power as another due to not being run in then to get the same PP it will have more torque,

Its things like this and other inconsistances such as some cars being better with a loose chasis and some being better after you have straigtened the chasis that make it even harder to have a truely equal battle.

Make it optional when you buy the car.

1. Want to break this car in like a real car? Yes/No

Yes - Drive it 300 km and change oil.

No - $1000 and you're done.

Same with the graphics and animations. Make them optional, on/off with check box, free of course.

I can understand that it's annoying if you absolutely want to run with the maximum possible engine power, but why would you want to do that? You don't gain much power from breaking in the engine anyway so it's not like it does a huge difference.

About oil change and GT Auto: I quite like it. Buying an old car who has served well in the past and restoring it to it's former glory is nice.

I think that could work.
With graphics and animations I guess you're talking about GT Auto? Playing the game with no graphics at all would be... interesting ;)

It would make me very happy, if they did remove it in GT6.

And for those people who absolutely feel they have to do it: fine, leave oil change and car wash in there, but change it so that it doesn't affect the car's performance. People who want to care for their cars should get a "car lover"-trophy or some ticket for every 1000 washes and oil changes they do, but to all those countless other people, who like to drive the cars, and don't have the time to break in each car for 2 hours in order to have a chance to win in a race with other people in the same car ... for heaven's sake, remove it!!!

I don't mind oil changes affecting performance but they need to be available to do automatically at the end of races or at the very least by a SINGLE CLICK in the garage. Not a 30 second animation.

Still useless in a videogame or a simulator.

What you propose is correctly implementing an originally bad idea. I want the bad idea removed in first place.

Well yes I would have removed it long ago but this is PD, we know which is more likely to happen. Well actually the most likely thing is they leave it as is but I like to retain at least some hope they've finally realised some of their ideas are awful.

I would like Break ins kept, though the permanent power reduction over time annoys me to no end. I would remove it or allow for it to be fixed.

What's more likely to happen is an INCREASE in time wasting animations. :guilty:

Why do you think it's crap? Just asking.

It's a poor attempt to keep the game 'real' and 'immersed', it's just annoying.

IMO GT Mode's real stuff should only be the physics (how the car drives) and not the wear and tear of parts (except tires and brakes) that make your car slower and worse. I do this stuff all the times with my own cars in real life, I don't want to maintain my virtual car because I drove it 5 miles, I drive virtual cars to avoid this.

It's a video game about driving your dream cars, the last thing I want to worry about is spending $10,000 so my car can do 178 MPH max, back to stock, only to go one lap before it goes down to 177 MPH max and lower as every lap goes.

Make a true career mode with that stuff in it and leave it out of GT Mode. That's my 2 cents.

Yea but don't over complicate it! Just add a few Bhp when you drive a couple of hundred miles or so and leave it at that! But many would not be fussed about it either way! There is more important issues to address first!

Basically, when you buy a car with zero miles, it will gradually gain more HP the more miles you put on it. The car will eventually stop gaining HP but I forgot at what mileage.
190-200 miles seems to be the bar for Breaking in cars.

For myself, the annoying part is when the cars start losing power AND engine rebuilds do not restore them to full power.

Totally unrealistic, an overbore should ALWAYS bump up power.

This, except I would remove the overpriced engine rebuilds and just leave it at oil changes like the older gt games.
