Should I buy S2U for PS3 ?

I have a DFGT and the only driving game I have is GT5. I wanna buy some more driving games for the PS3+DFGT and I've narrowed down to

F1 2010
S2U
Dirt 3

I'll be getting F1 2010 tomorrow and I'll get Dirt 3 next month or so when I'm done with F1 2010. Now I just wanna know if S2U is worth buying for PS3+DFGT.

I'm not a physics nut but I'd want the game to be fun and playable with DFGT.

P.S: Are there any other good driving games worth considering for PS3+DFGT ?

I'd strongly advise renting it first if possible. The game itself is quite fun, but the handling needs tweaking for almost everybody

I second that. I absolutely love the game, but it takes some getting used to (especially with a wheel) and not everyone will like it.

As for as other good driving games, I'd suggest Ferrari and Supercar Challenge. They're kinda hard to get into, but worth it in the end.

Renting is an expensive option where I live. Scanning the forums, I notice that the general consensus is that the game is very disappointing. So, I think I'll skip this game.

I wouldn't necessarily take that view. There are problems for sure, such as the input lag and game freezing. However there are some indications that at least one more patch is on the way that may fix those issues. I think you should go ahead with F1 2010 and Dirt 3 and in the meantime stay tuned to the S2U forum for any reports on new patches. There is a great game hiding behind the bugs so don't dismiss it entirely just yet.

If you buy it, be "patient"! MANY got frustrated when they first tried it but once they stopped comparing to the other driving game and got into the game the beauty of it can be appreciated. It is a "racing" game and very immersive. Many great tracks, cars, and events.
Once I got S2U I never went back to... and I am no expert tuner. Also, start with "steering assist" (Novice) until you get the hang of it.
Note, I use a DFGT also.

It is my favorite game of the lot but it does have some bugs... I personaly think its a must have in any racing game colection for the PS3 - that one and F1 CE - but if you just want a easy fun free from bugs game go for Dirt 3 instead - F1 2010 can be quite frustrating in the begining

I'd buy it. I have a S2U with DS3 (not a wheel) on the PS3. Never had a problem, never had a freeze, don't find any lag. I love the game, it's feel, it's style. Huge number of tracks, awesome cars.

The only thing I will say is that there are two tweaks I had to put in to fix the steering floatiness. I'm at work, so I'm not certain, but off-hand, set the Steering Deadzone to 0 and the Steering Sensitivity to 40. Dig around the forum here and read some of the threads on adjusting controls and you'll find it quickly enough.

Is the game enjoyable with DFGT? That's all I really wanna know.

Simple answer: YES.

I enjoy this game with my DFGT much more than GT5. 👍

I believe you should get it. There are some bugs with the game, but I feel the racing itself and autolog outweigh the bugs. Just be sure to check out some of the threads to get you going in the right direction on wheel settings.

DFGT here

Steering sens - 50
Speed sens -0
rotation - 450º

and its one hell of a game

EDIT: though some cars do need a little tunning

A PS3 racing collection is not complete without it. However as someone else said, make sure you give it a good go. You need to learn to drive it. It is however very rewarding racing - I don't mind not coming first, I just don't like coming last.

I only put F12010 in the PS3 to drive the circuit before the next f1 race, then it's back to Shift 2. That other famous driving game doesn't get a look in anymore.

For all it's faults (I think it's safe to say that all racing games have faults...), it's a must-have for racing interested PS3 owners 👍

tribolik has the 'correct' wheel settings down - go with that, adjusting rotation to taste and maybe increasing the steering lock in each cars tuning.

Seems like people either hate it or love it. I think I might give it a try to see if I like it.

You betcha...

Note, if you haven't tried AutoLog you are in for a real treat (get some friends on it ASAP). The game is very deep in challenges but AutoLog makes it almost impossible to complete! You will find yourself going back to the early races/tracks to try to beat the times your friends have so kindly taken from you - thanks Vaxxtx!

If you are "truely" looking for a good PS3 "competitive racer" (good AI, AutoLog, challenges, etc.) give it a month and you will most likely thank everyone here that helped you in your decision.

Also, if you can, make sure you have a good sound system - the crashes will make you cringe!

While I have many complaints about Shift 2 Unleashed, I still play it every day and it's still a great game. Only things ruining it for me sometimes are the many bugs, especially the freezes. But there's still some hope that these will be fixed, though I kinda doubt it myself.

If you want to do lots of online racing though, this game won't be that great. Almost no one plays online for some reason and it gets pretty hard to find races you want. I always have to enter the room to see if the car choice is mixed or all the same for example, same for how many laps the race is. And no penalties if you wallride (not many people do it, but at the London track some people are faster doing this), cut the track (mainly chicanes at Monza, Nurburgring GP, Zolder, Spa) or just crash into someone. During the normal online races people usually don't do this but if you do driver duels (especially the championship) you often will get pushed off the track.

Offline experience is definately good in Shift 2, but if you want online more I think you're better off skipping this game.

psssh...yes it is. Really all you need is GT5 and Dirt 3 to have a complete racing collection. I'd also toss in a Motorstorm game in there, as well and NFS HP, but Shift 2? no. Shift 1 maybe. I personally liked Shift 1 better. I've heard Shift 2 is better with the wheel, but I don't have money to buy a wheel, so...

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I've decided to buy the game. I'm getting it for like $30 so I guess it can't go wrong.

I tried the game with a controller once. Frustrating as hell. Then I figured out why. The controller had two buttons on the back that I kept pressing and acted as alternatives to the steering.

Good decision, i'm pretty sure you won't regret it. Shift 2 is very addictive!

F1 2011 is coming out in a few months so I'd wait for that instead of getting F1 2010. F12010 is still good aside from a few things & pitstop bugs, but 2011 is almost here and supposed to fix them.

GT1 cars in shift 2 are awesome though and the tracklist is amazing.

When I got F1 2010 coming from gt5 I spun out in almost every corner I'm like what the heck? Even now the game still has those automatic spinouts :( only problem with it but it's good

I just picked up F1 2010 today. Pretty damn good game. I really like the "Living the Life" part.

Also for all the people saying online is dead....are wrong. There are plenty of races going on. Also just add some decent clean drivers to your list and you wont have to worry.

Finally, I dont know ANYONE that has actually played Shift2 (not for an hour and gave up because its too hard) that has gone back to GT5. I tried really hard to get into GT5 but its just....well not as fun as S2. Its sterile, and S2 has bull balls. Most people will bash S2, and 90% have not even tried it. Its pathetic.

Add my PSN if you want to do some online, its a great way to get xp and just have fun.

I'm one of those people. Well, I don't play GT5 exclusively (I have Fozra 2 and 3, Race Pro, Ferrari and Supercar Challenge, and DiRT3 among others to keep up with) but I do find more enjoyment from Gt5 than I do Shift 2. Don't get me wrong, I really like Shift 2 and I can appreciate what it is trying to do, but I feel GT5 is closer to real life than Shift 2.

I'm not one of those people who's barely played the game either, but honestly the only reason I still play Shift 2 is because of the Legends DLC. If only SimBin would release GT Legends on console... :dopey:
