Do PD abandon that slogan, & go more simcade like DriveClub?

Or do they try & take on the mighty physics of Project CARS & Assetto Corsa on PS4?
This is what they must do,and I really believe that they can do it 👍

I say keep the slogan. IF and only IF they take steps towards making it an actual driving simulator. Otherwise PD is just tooting it's own horn and broadcasting lies.

Driving in Driveclub is just pure fun no matter what car. The sounds, the feel, the sense of speed you get is really, really amazing
Yuck. There's a reason that its nose is just above water, and it's because most gamers don't agree with you. Well, and it's not Gran Turismo.

That and a better online experience with dedicated servers something closer to iRacing.
I've had my fun with this racer's name, but it is a highly regarded racing game. In fact, it's reputation is of a game so finicky that if you don't have a good wheel, the feel of the car is supposed to be rather numb. That aside, it's supposed to have a fantastic online system. Forza did for a while, and so do a number of other games.

I've said in the past that the real world details, PD doesn't have to look to other games for inspiration at all. But gamey aspects like a Livery Editor and a good Online implementation, they really do, because Gran Turismo has always lagged behind practically every other game.

If I were PD I'd double down on the slogan and change it to, "The Real Driving and Motorsport Simulator".
Oh YES!! :D

But seriously, I'm hoping that GT7 has quite the goodie box full of properly represented racing leagues, as I said last page. PD, just do it.

Drop it. It could do with a fresh clogan. Like Chevrolet changing "The Heartbeat of America". Times have changed since 1997.

Why would "The Real Driving Simulator" ever be dropped?

Besides putting a huge hole in GT's legacy, there might be some people out there that simply get it because of the tagline. Many people question GT's authenticity, and I get that, but did people stop getting plastic instrument games because they weren't as realistic as playing a real instrument? No.

'cause some over-analytic children think "simcade" is a better label for it.

What a silly word...

These are probably the same guys that would label each song in an album as a different genre of music.

"That song is totally psychadelic punk pop dubstep bro!"

Well someone upset at the younger generation, and no it's cause for being dropped is technically it's a lie.

At this point games 5-10 years ago do a better job than GT does at being GT.

I get onto Call of Duty for being a copy/paste job, but GT5 to GT6 nothing really changed like that at all. Actually it magically got worse LMAO!

We have a product here in the UK & their slogan is; "Does what it says on the tin", it's just a shame that GT doesn't do the same.

Language is something that's constantly evolving, & new words are being coined all the time. While "Simcade" may not have made it into a recognized dictionary as of yet, it is most certainly a proper word & is quite useful in describing games that are part sim & part arcade. Whether everybody likes it or not is another matter. I for one like the word.

F1 2011, an action game? I suppose if you consider the random wrecks and glitches from that mystical Safety car that only appears to screw with you

The problem is the word don't make sense most of the time it being used. Arcade is very different to sim genre, the middle ground is muddled, sometimes the defining point is not just the physics as even in sim genre, the physics level can be very varied. For me, simcade is just a word with no clear meaning or intention most of the time, unless the user make a thorough explanation of what he meant.

Arcade gameplay with sim level of physics maybe be referred when someone says simcade or it may be the other way around.

Simcade is not even a proper word ... sim and arcade are both different genre with totally different approach not just in physics but overall package. IMO, it's a silly practice to use "simcade" to describe a game.

Interesting how SMS classify games :

? That's all I can say about how SMS classified F1 2011 or any of them in Action?

Funny enough I felt more real from DiRT 3 then I did from GT5 personally.

@Ridox2JZGTE - DRIVECLUB is a game that can be described as "Simcade". For example, it does a fantastic job of modelling lift off oversteer, power oversteer, & understeer. I would say that it is very sim in those areas. However, the braking model is extremely arcade, it's just a case of stomping on the brakes really late & you have huge amounts of unrealistic grip & stopping power.

So, some of the physics are modeled realistically, while other aspects are more arcade style. A perfect example of what Simcade means.

This is where I have different point of view, physics are used on both arcade or sim, it's not enough to classify only based on the physics alone. People often put high bar for sim, but sim physics highly varied in level of accuracy and fidelity. Old PC games from the early 90's has sim genre racing games like Nascar 1 and 2, or Indy Car Racing by Papyrus or some other old DOS sim racing games, these are ancient ( calculations are very basic ) compared to todays sim ( even compared to GT or FM ) I still consider these old Payrus games sim, because the objective and gameplay it has. Now compare that to Daytona USA and Sega Rally, also released in about the same time, that is the perfect example of arcade racing game, from flow of gameplay, to how it plays ( it uses a wheel, shifter and pedal, but it's underlying concept is fun driving and not focusing on realistic experience )

DriveClub, I would consider it arcade, even with such level of physics being used, it's the overall driving experience that gives more focus on fun, more like Ridge Racer with real world modeled cars :P If you ever play Battle Gear series on arcade, that is similar to DriveClub, quite realistic, although the focus on the handling traits is more on drift racing than grip racing. The cars have realistic stats and performance, it has cockpit view, it understeers, it oversteers, and it's awesome with a 900 degree wheel ( if I remember it correctly, also very difficult to master )

Musicians make music, people who work in record shops then decide what to label it & what section to put it under. People like labeling things, & often times do it differently.

I'm happy with the Simcade label, & find it useful. You don't. End of.

👍

It's looking like Gran Turismo 7 might be called Gran Turismo Sport instead, & with that in mind; do you think they should also abandon their "Real Driving Simulator" slogan?

GT has had so much criticism leveled at it for not being entirely accurate in the physics department, & I cannot help but think that they've brought that criticism upon themselves by claiming that it's a realistic simulator on the box.

Do PD abandon that slogan, & go more simcade like DriveClub? Or do they try & take on the mighty physics of Project CARS & Assetto Corsa on PS4?

What do you think they should do?

On my transition to real life thread 73% of people said that they thought GTs physics were great. In here 79% of your pollers voted to keep the simulation. Racers are created with GT Academy. They should put a focus on having the best physics so that the racers that enter GT academy or go racing the hard way can learn more from the game. Even Kazonuri used the game GT5 to prepare for the (2012)? Nurburgring 24 Hours.

👍

"Simcade" is useful for less realistic controls such as 360 controllers and DS3s, but for FFB wheels, it should be a very simulating experience. Very punny, right?
