What do you think PD should do for the next GT game?

I believe they scrapped the slogan, 'The Drive of Your Life' quite a while back.
You must be thinking of Peugoet. GT never had "The Drive of your Life" slogan. Always been the real driving simulator.

They did, but it was used as a secondary slogan from GT3 - GT4.

If you've seen the trailers for Gran Turismo HD, "The Drive Of Your Life" Showed up in many of them.

I never saw any of the trailers for GT HD, no. I never even knew about the game until 2009.

It's looking like Gran Turismo 7 might be called Gran Turismo Sport instead, & with that in mind; do you think they should also abandon their "Real Driving Simulator" slogan?

GT has had so much criticism leveled at it for not being entirely accurate in the physics department, & I cannot help but think that they've brought that criticism upon themselves by claiming that it's a realistic simulator on the box.

Drop the slogan? Absolutely not. It's a company slogan for very successful racing video game. Sometime it seems that many people forget the game part.

Ah... realism. While Gran Turismo may not reach the levels of the PC super-sims, what PDI has done is make a realistic driving game that has appealed to millions. What I do feel that GT7 should do is offer a physics system that allows the user to choose their level of simulation. Not every one wants to play a game for serious training after all.

I think GT should keep it. I never read too much into it, and it still goes well with the classic logo. It would be a greater mistake if it claimed to be some sort of racing simulator, for now at least.

Driving simulator without other traffic feels wrong, and with lots of VGT focus better just call it "The real car simulator".
And if we get coursemaker why not put in the word "track" along there too.

? That's all I can say about how SMS classified F1 2011 or any of them in Action?

Funny enough I felt more real from DiRT 3 then I did from GT5 personally.

I thought the turning physics in f1 2011 to me were somewhat wonky, I loved that game but it was kind of hard to turn sometimes. Dirt 3 was also more of a simcade to me, but the force feedback in that game made you feel like a man when you got it under control (dirt 3 has the best ff of any game imo). Personally I think GT has the best turning of any game I've played, I just feel connected to the car sometimes.
But, of course it's just my opinion
NOW OT: Don't drop the slogan

I voted for them to keep the slogan.

There is no benefit, in my opinion, from them dropping the slogan other than trying to fool people into buying it.

Some argue that Gran Turrismo isn't realistic, because it doesn't replicate some physics well enough or at all.

Yet if we took a poll asking, "Have any members here on GTPlanet learned skills applicable in real world driving situations from Gran Turismo?", then I bet the majority if not all, would be able to raise their hand.

I realized this when I first began driving. I wasn't used to driving alongside the hooligans on the roads here in the US, but noticed that I could handle cars very well.

I'm 100% sure that 14 years of gran turismo contributed to this.

Understanding is what I received therefore I believe the slogan fits even if more so with other racing/driving games.

PD should drop the PP system when generating starting grids. Old race cars are cool to race against other old race cars. When I'm driving a SuperGT I don't want to slalom a Ford from the 60's.

It's clear to me that at least some people are misinterpreting this slogan (perhaps myself as well):

1) The (Real Driving) Simulator i.e. The simulator of real driving.
2) The Real (Driving Simulator) i.e. The better driving simulator <compared to other wannabes on the market>.

I suspect the first is the original meaning and if so then there is no reason at all to change it because all GTs have always attempted to simulate the real driving experience as best they can.

What is the original Japanese wording/grammar from which the English is derived?

Very simple really.

They should keep the slogan. It's a very good slogan and is synonymous with Gran Turismo.

What they should do however, is create a game around that exact phrase. "The Real Driving Simulator". Because, like it or not, the PS3 era of Gran Turismo has not been that. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was the last true "Gran Turismo" game. GT5 was starting to drift away from this ideal. GT6 is not even worth discussing in my opinion. The Vision GT programme has essentially made a mockery of "The Real Driving Simulator".

If PD finally get their act together and bring us GT7, they should look back at what made Gran Turismo so great. Then make it with the 21st century tech we now have.

I say abolish the "Driving Simulator" tagline. If you're adding race cars and you're racing, why not create a "Racing Simulator?" It's all well and good creating realistic cars but if there's no point when you have nothing enjoyable to use them with. Plus, people prefer racing over "just" driving which would increase appeal when in shops etc. What makes the "Real Driving Simulator" even more of a joke is the Vision GT program. The Vision GT cars aren't real so cannot be accurately simulated.

Well, I think what they need to do isn't drop it, but refine it. And really, your complaint which many of us GT fans share is wanting to see PD provide enough cars within a certain class to fill up a racing grid - or classes if they go multiclass.

Many of us groaned with you at seeing a hodge podge of cars in many of the races that had no business being in the same field. I would often restart races in order to generate a grid that was as close to ideal as I could get. PD has plenty of cars to play with, and I'm hopeful that in GT7 we finally end up with proper racing grids with cars from the same league, or those multiclass races but done right.

The PP system itself though just needs to be tweaked. It's a good idea that just needs some work.

yes I think Pd should drop their slogan for GT7 because there are many things in Gt6 that are not realistic (physics, car specs etc). Also that slogan is becoming outdated as time goes on.

When looking at PCars, Forza5/6, Assetto Corsa, Shift2 and Grid 2, not counting the NFS and FH spin offs, GT6 is the only one I see as "driving" a car. All the other games are more tuned for racing. From a TT or just getting a feel for the car, GT6 does seem to be better at cruising than full on racing.

I'm not sure I see a difference between cruising/driving in Forza for example vs. cruising/driving in GT. In fact I'd extend that comparison to most games. Some of the essential elements of a good driving game should be a properly working clutch, good sound package, realistic tire options, good physics of course etc. Other games do these things as well or better than GT6 in most cases. The only real advantage I see for GT6 is car count and even then, compared to Forza, there really isn't an advantage in that departement in terms of next gen assets either.

I don't think pd can afford to change the slogan. They have the console power and by now they should have the ability to make it as realistic as it can be. I would rather wait an extra year and have a perfect driving simulator game than have a rushed arcade driving game. It's what gt has always been about and always should be
