You don't drive with your car on the ground. You rase it up a bit while drive just for that reason.

WHy would you go with a Jetta? The older body style looks like hell and the new ones carry a hefty price. If you go with a Jetta you would HAVE to get a new one sense you are trying to a show car, and that would take most if not all of your 18. And that's only if you get 15 out of your civic.

What source of income do you have?

Why not get an older car. i.e. a fiero, or firebird

get an old muscle car and restore it. That would be a great show car.

or snag a pt cruiser and put a woody kit on it.

oh and hydraulics aren't as expensive as you think. You could put a basic 4 switch in for relatively cheap. The only downside of hydraulics is finding a spot in your car for all those tanks and batteries.

They start to get expensive when you put in 16 or 32 switch systems. But those aren't necessary. Pick up an issue of Lowrider the magazine for your prices on hydros.

Well my source of income depends on how much I work. But I get 17 a hour.

The reason I wanted a Jetta was because well....hmmmm...I don't know.

If I get a lowrider it will be an older car like the classic 62 Impala or maybe a Monte Carlo?

My mom drives a PT not a bad car but not me.

Then let me give you some advice, if you look in the mags at winning show cars they all pretty much have some radical body on them. Meaning they don't look like a normal car. If you are going with a lowrider, grab some car or truck that has a nice interior, then butcher the **** out of the body and do something original.

Originality=money (winning contests)

I'll try to find some links to stuff I'm talking about.

I'm not a fan of the 'ludes. I never really liked them. A kid at school had one until he wrapped it around a tree. They don't stay together to well. Never really fast and they cost quite a bit for not a good hp. I'd rather get the GN I'm looking at.

I voted the Mazda.
I like Mazda's and the Protege5 is something that is hot and the aftermarket is really catching on.
The main reason I picked up Mazda is the RX7. Twin Turbo baby.
You would have to purchase a used car, but with the extra cash you would have, thats more to spend on go fast goodies and maintanence.
Shop around and you can find a third gen rx7 turbo car for about 10-15 thousand and with about another 3 grand, get it reliable and then spend the rest for your show car project, the rx7.
Just a thought.
Btw, they are well respected across the world as a true sports car, right from the factory. There arent many that are called pure sport. ;) :D
Good luck man.

Well I don't even know. I think I'll just walk for a while. Every car I want I can't afford.

i have a 95 jetta i was wondering if any1 knows were i can get headlight conversion kits or the headlights like the ones in the fast and the furious if u know were u can get them or others like them please tell me i need help! Thank you!

Since you are getting into investing, you may want to consider the resale potential of whichever car you decide to purchase for your project. If you choose an import, the odds are that by the time you are finished with it and you decide to sell it, it will be "out of style" with the crowd who would be willing to buy a used, modified import. If you want a show car that will gain in value by bringing it to show condition, buy and older model American car. Late 60's Mustangs, mid 50's to mid 60's Chevies, GTO's, 442's, and even many old pickups when restored meticulously, modified or stock, will earn you a great deal of profit for your time and $ invested. An import, even the European ones, will not bring you any profit in return. Just food for thought.

What about the lexus sc400? I like them alot and they're not what you see everyday in shows...

Nice SC400

accords are show queens....you never go to a show without seeing a pimped out accord so If you want tons of options go that way.....If you have enought money for more expensive parts I'd go DTM....BMW lotsa nice ones around...

I say you go for a 240...They're beautiful cars with or without the front end conversion...And I've seen plenty silvia's take best in show prizes....I don't really see too many BMW's winning those...Well older model BMW's.
