Not so much a purchase, really, but I got this 2014 Trek Fuel EX 9. Reconnected with an old friend I used to ride with and we are going to get back into mountain biking. My previous bike, a 2020 Trek Marlin 5 didn't cut it on the rides I was doing and I messed up the derailleur on it, so I will convert that bike to be more of a gravel bike for casual rides.

HDD finally went pop in my 1X & because I still can't get hold of the SX I bought a Samsung evo 1tb ssd for £85 & it's alive again.

Was going to buy the Samsung qvo 1tb as it was £60 from currys but when I checked out the specs apparently its terrible (as in avoid at all costs), although it states read/write speeds upto the 560mb mark apparently this is in some form of short burst mode & the true speed was around 60mb (lower than a 5400rpm spinner at 100mb)

Don't understand to much of this personally but I followed all the advice & opted for the evo, an extra £25 for the piece of mind.

I'm not seeing anything too negative about the QVO drive. The benchmarks seem okay.

Received and tested the hub yesterday, and I'm happy to report that it worked really well! I've thrown everything I mentioned above at it (all at the same time) and it delivered. It's exactly what I needed.

Even the quality of the packaging was well above average and had small details that made it stand from all the other cheap stuff out there. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Then I'll get on it! Thank you!

Bought some red mohagony stain to complete my bookcase project.

Since Fanatec didn't quite have anything I wanted on my list i went ahead and ordered the Clubsport Steering Wheel RS.

I need a round wheel since all i have is my McLaren V2 wheel and the Terrible P1 wheel that came with my base.

Since this comes with the quick release and magnetic shifters it's a great price. ($100 value each)

I chose overnight shipping so we'll see how long that takes

Found a japanese Gran Turismo 1 copy for ~5 bucks in a used media store. Another addition to my GT-Collection:

Looking after a affordable undamaged or "tuned" one in 1:18 for years and finally found one of the collection released around 20 years ago:

Normally not that into BMW modelcars but this one is a bit of a emotional story for me. The virtual version of this E36 GT-R started my love for simracing games in form of EAs Sportscar GT back in 1999. SCGT was my first sim with fuel and tyre simulation + pitstops, buying tuning parts and new cars from your race earnings and the first game with "forced" endurance races in the late 90s aside from Gran Turismo 1. Also had kind of multiclass racing with GT2 and GT3 cars from E36 GT-R, 911 GT2, Shelby Mustang and the more LMP-esque GT1 cars from 911 GT1, CLK GT-R to McLaren F1 and the Panoz and Lister Storms. Even on the shortest settings some championship races were 45 minutes and with longer settings I spend hours racing around mostly US-tracks like Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, Sebring, Las Vegas, Lime Rock, etc. etc.. I didn't had a PS1 back then so my first Gran Turismo experience was only at friends houses.

You maybe remember the cover and the game:

Spectacular graphics :D

Have to admit I'm still playing this game every few month getting back 22 years into the past when life was much easier in my teenage years :cheers:

Some weeks ago I already got a little 1:18 japanese-german-collab for around 20 bucks on ebay:

I just love the ADVAN-liveries. Need to get more of these cars.

My desktop PC died a few weeks ago, so I've been trying to figure out the best way to turn our Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (which is shared by everyone at home, but only used occasionally) into a desktop machine when needed (i.e. for running Lightroom and managing my basic photography needs).

Out of a million possibilities and prices, I've turned to this:

Hopefully, plugging this into the USB-C socket will allow me to have:

  • An external monitor connected, via HDMI (up to 4K 60Hz);
  • A 3.5 in. external hard drive;
  • Wired internet connection;
  • SD and MicroSD card readers;
  • Some extra USB slots available, for BT / mouse & keyboard.

I say hopefully, because while a friend told me Anker products were good and that this will all work as expected, I'm still not sure about it.
I ordered the exact same thing for myself per @35mm and @TB recommendations.

Also realised something mildly infuriating about my Paper Mill Classics collection: they're not standardized; some are taller, some are shorter. I mean I didnt expect much when I got them for ~$10 CAD a book but it still pisses me off considering they're published by the same damn company.

They're not staying in this bookcase anyway but I just noticed it today and I can't stop noticing it. This bookcase is supposed to house the rest of the leatherbound collections when I eventually get them all. The other books in this bookcase are going upstairs in a personal library build which will be completed.... eventually.

Gifts for immediate family this year. Since I can finally afford some Christmas now that I have a decent paying job. Andddd yes that means they're going to get items from the company store for starters.

Welp, this is for me to wear when we do gifts. :lol:

Was pleasantly surprised today at Costco. Had them at $10-15 off the regular price from Amazon or Indigo. Also got to choose the most pristine looking books instead of having them be abused by the post office as they forcefully shove packages through the P.O. box.

5 down, 9 more to go before the collection is complete.

Holding those books for display are my anatomy and physiology textbooks.

And my personal favourite atlas, hand drawn by the late Dr. Netter.
