and the most recent Fast & Furious movie on DVD. All were cheap in the sales so I couldn't resist! :)

Just bought my first trackday, a taster session on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. At £25, it's cheaper than go karting. Will be taking the Mini. 6 weeks to go!

The Man in The White Suit is a tremendous read mate 👍
I can hardly put it down at night even if I want to get to sleep

I had to wiki that to know what "coaster" means, sound like an ingenious solution.

Me too. After reading it I'm still not sure what it has to do with what I said. A fixie is a bike with one fixed gear, which is what the bike in the pic looks to be. Am I still missing something?

A fixie is locked to the hub so as the wheel rotates so does the chain and crank, therefore your always pedalling. A coaster is a single gear but it isn't fixed to the hub so the wheel can rotate without moving the chain or crank, therefore coasting/freewheeling.

One gear doesn't necessarily indicate what the drive is. A single speed hub can be either:

Fixed: never stop pedaling (think track bikes)
Coaster: you can stop pedaling and coast, pedaling backwards is brakes (think kiddie bikes)
Freewheel: you can stop pedaling and coast, pedaling backwards does nothing (think any geared freewheel)

I've never had much luck riding a bike through snow. Especially one with street tires.

To be honest, I ride in the inner city, so even when we get bombarded with a couple inches of fresh, I just ride with the cars and it's not a real problem. Evidently taking waaaay more caution with the road surface means it takes a decent time longer to get places.

Couldn't resist anymore the temptation of buying the Samsung PX2350 + Driving Force GT. Here's what happened this Christmas:

Btw, if anyone asks, the headset on the left is a Sennheiser PC350 that I bought 2 years ago. And the picture was taken with my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. :P

A freewheel hub... :D

Belle and Sebastian- Write About Love
Wolf Parade- Expo 86
Stars- The Five Ghosts
U2- Under A Blood Red Sky: Live At Red Rocks DVD

The first two albums are fantastic! The third album is only pretty good. The Live at Red Rocks DVD is a incredible show! I love early U2, so I had to get it.

Bionic Gloves Driving Gloves

product-mensdriving-attribute-2-16.jpg

I like these. They have open ventilation on the back to allow air flow and increase flexibility and then added padding on all the contact points on the palms to make driving much more comfortable. They are very grippy, forcing me to stop unconscious bad driving habits, like palming the wheel when I turn at an intersection, and they allow enough flexibility that I can use the touchscreen on my phone and control my iPod Nano while wearing them.

Typically I have worn just normal winter gloves when it was cold, but I had trouble fumbling for my keys and had to remove them to do anything more precise than turning a knob on my radio. I haven't really found a limit to what I can do with these on yet.

TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection: Holiday

Really, all I wanted was "The Shop Around the Corner" but it was almost $18 by itself and only $12.50 for this set. As a bonus I get "Christmas in Connecticut," which is OK and one of the earliest movie adaptations of "A Christmas Carol." This version of A Christmas Carol isn't so great though as it rushes through a total running time of 69 minutes (69 DUDES!!!). And I haven't seen "It Happened on 5th Avenue" yet.

But the gem is "The Shop Around the Corner." I am an unabashed James Stewart fan and while this movie itself is not as popular as "It's a Wonderful Life" it is arguably a better movie. And for those who like the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan 1998 film "You've Got Mail," this was the original film version of that story. And since even this version is originally based on a play, we see how far Hollywood has come in originality.

That BMW is schweeeet!👍 I also have a couple of those proper stickers along with about 50 other stance ones:sly: I'm euro through and through my car list through the years is as folllows: 1980 320i, 1982 320i, 1988 325, 1994 325is, 1995 Audi A6, 2001 VW Jetta 1.8t and the newest 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. German Only! Keep up the stance deliciousness 👍

^ What TV is that?

Also, there's something missing between GT5 and Inception.

EDIT: Forget it. I can see now it's NFS.

1080i is, for all intensive purposes, not a "true" high-def format. Stick with 720p.

Can you be bothered with explaining to me what you just said? :P

I have no idea what all this 720, 1080i, 1080p stands for. When I first booted up my PS3 I chose 1080 because I pulled a Jeremy Clarkson; More is better

The graphics of Hot Pursuit look so much nicer on my mate's TV, but he has a 42" I think and it costed 3 times as much as mine

Let's see, how can I do this without a wall of geek text?

Ah....

1080i vs 1080p (or 720p for that matter) - The "i" denotes an Interlaced scan, and the "p" denotes a Progressive scan. While 1080i and 1080p will appear the same largely because both have the same vertical and horizontal resolution, 1080i is the lesser of three evils (those three being 480p, 720p, and 1080p) If you've never noticed, 1080i has jagged edges as it's merely 540 alternate fields scanned at a time (am I making things worse?).....

I think I am. Okay, 1080i = Think of this as someone taking a 576i image and enlarging it with minimal sharpening and little to absolutely no AA or AF (think PC games). 1080p = Think of this as a "Made for TV" movie, utilizes everything properly. Except there are no commercials in-between.

1080i is basically 2 sets of 540 lines coming from opposite ends of the tv and alternating, or something. You want 720p or 1080p where you get that number of lines on the screen at a time.
Yes, there is definitely a difference between LCD panels when comparing lower tier companies to the higher end stuff. The contrast and black levels make a huge difference.

So to put it simple:

If I set my TV to the 720p format I will get a screen with a lower resolution but with better overall quality.

Correct?

Contrast was way too high on it so I adjust the colours, contrast and sharpness of the image.

How does my statement work for game compatibilities? I mean, my mate said GT5 was limited to 720p, while Hot Pursuit supported 1080i. Will I get better quality off 720p no matter what?

GT5 isn't limited to 720p. Unless by "limited" he actually meant native-wise, in which case, yeah...he's right. And, yes, you'll get better image quality by switching to 720p.

I didn't buy these, my girlfriend gave them to me, but I did pay to have them installed.

My first big purchase of the new year. Needed a TV for my apartment at school and this one fits the bill nicely. 32" 1080p 60hz LCD (non-LED).
