Waterstones and Phaidon were having a 50% off sale so I bought these:

Haruki Murakami - 1Q84 (full set)

Photobooks:
Elliott Erwitt - Snaps (one of the great Street photographers)
Philip Jones Griffiths - Vietnam Inc. (photo essay on the Vietnam war)
James Nachtwey - Inferno (it's got every conflict/war that Nachtwey covered over the 80s/90s, massive book)

How much was Inferno? I'd love to get that.

Meddle - Pink Floyd

I was going to get Obscured By Clouds as well but it was out of stock, so I got this instead.
Mothership (2 Cd/1 Dvd) - Led Zeppelin
LedZeppelinMothership.jpg

I'm not an audiophile but they sounded really good to me. Though the DVD for Mothership wasn't a good as I would have hoped, but its not the worst DVD quality I've seen. Also my first time purchasing Led Zeppelin. Listen to them on Youtube and the radio but never got around to buying anything from them. Meddle was just another album to check of the list for my Pink Floyd remasters collection. Looking forward I'll probably pick the rest of the Pink Floyd remasters up and a few Beatles ones that came out more recently that I missed.

The MGS Collection is pretty slick. I love Peace Walker, so much stuff to do in it other than main missions. I think I've spent more time on the side stuff.

Like a wife? ;)

On-topic: I'm officially addicted.

Best candy bar EVAR! :) I bought a pack of these a while back and I was addicted to... Then I had to go cold turkey, because I couldnt find it anywhere any more :(

Hell to Tripple Play.

I wanted to put it on my psp via het official Mediago software on my PC. I got a message that it was not possible due to DRM. According to the instruction you CAN put it on your registred Ipadpod devices. :ouch: :grumpy: :grumpy:

I've been curious. Who shoots first on this version?
Despite me wanting to put in Episode IV, the kids wanted to watch Episode II and we haven't made it to any others yet. :irked:

Counter-question - how is Thor?

I bought one of these for my wife, the iLuv ArtStation Pro stereo speaker dock for iPad:

iluv-imm514-artstation-pro.jpg

She uses it with SkyGo so that we stream all our digital TV, movies, sport, etc to it and it basically turns her iPad into a kitchen or bedside table TV. Good sound from it too so we stream iTunes and Spotify through it as well. It was £125 locally, but you can get them for about £99 online.

Top Tip: Also frees up the main TV in the lounge for GT5... if you know what I mean. :sly:

I live your thinking. I went and dumped our TV in the bedroom as soon as we started to rent. Bought a projector which never receives TV signals! Bye bye TV. Hello GT / movies.

Any way, on the subject of purchases, I bought these a on the way home from work.

Stupidly expensive, ridiculous looking cigarettes. I'm not going to put the price here for a box of ten because it might cause heart attacks but let's just say I'm limiting myself to just one of these fine smokes each day.

And yes, I have got a big nose, I'm aware. And yes, I do intend to shave tonight so as not to look any more like a pikey.

Shem, you look like an aristocrat :D:tup:

My new Superstar Components wheels arrived today. The pair of them weigh in at 2,119g which is only 169g above the weight quoted on the website so I'm happy with that and they feel loads lighter than my existing knackered wheels but I won't know the difference until I swap them over. I'm more bothered about them being tough and they look the absolute muts nuts so that shouldn't be an issue.

The Wish You Were Here Immersion Box Set. My birthday present from the wife. WYWH is both my favorite Pink Floyd song and album:tup: The best part of this is the different mixes and all the different artwork. Will look to pick up The Wall Immersion set sometime later this year and eventually Dark Side. Would love an Animals Immersion set but probably not going to happen.

How do you play GT5 with a wheel when the image is that high up? I guess you lower it, right?

I received the Dark Side box set at Christmas and I was thrilled to add it to my music collection. I was originally thinking of getting the Wish You Were Here set too, but ended up only getting the experience edition. The different mixes are great, I really liked the two tracks from the "Household Objects" project(The Hard Way- DTOSM and Wine Glasses- WYWH). The other tracks that come with DTOSM are also really good. My favorite was The Travel Sequence, both the studio and live versions. Plus the Live at Wembley 1974 concert was one of the best performances of any album live.

Back to the WYWH set, I was wondering what the marbles looked like. I had watched an unboxing but I couldn't quite make out what the design was.

No design on the marbles, completely clear. At first I thought it was a mistake but then I thought about it and I figure they are supposed to represent absence, but come on, clear marbles, why include them at all? Wish you were here, design on my marbles.:sly: I haven't had a chance yet to check out the mixes and preformances yet so no opinion on them.

If they made Animals Immersion that would be bought in a heartbeat. Make it happen.

Naw man he's a tall skinny white guy in China. He probably looks ridiculous out in public.

Last purchases: Xbox 360 60gb hdd, forza 4 (finally) and I was gonna purchase Senna but then I saw that its now on Netflix! Too busy watching senna to post pics.

Interdasting. We call the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copies simply "Triple Play" on the cases over here.
Well, around here you have just Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray + DVD, Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy, or Blu-Ray 3D (which also has a 2D version) + DVD + Digital Copy, and each of those may have an extra special features disc. So, short of coming up with various names for every version, just listing what formats are involved is easiest. There was a time when I would see two-disc sets, but then you had no clue what the second disc was unless you read the fine print on the back of the box. It made just grabbing one off the shelf more work than the average person wanted. I have two-disc sets where the second disc is DVD, special features, or digital copy. I don't buy just digital copy additions because I never use them. They are too locked to one device. I can get more versatility from the DVD. And that is without ripping it.

Counter-question - how is Thor?
Of The Avengers series of films it is better than The Incredible Hulk but not as good as the Iron Mans or Captain America. There are OMG AWESOME!!! moments and then cringe-worthy moments. But as the Thor story goes it is a good translation of the comics and adds good background info to Captain America and some of what we know The Avengers storyline will be. As in many multi-title comic storylines it is a good background information filler. Also, it is the only appearance of Hawkeye in the movies to this point, and he even gets in a snarky one-liner. It could have done with a lot less Natalie Portman.

The marbles representing absence makes sense, though they probably would have been better with the hands shaking. I still don't understand why they included marbles to begin with. I guess they're a collectors item, though I've never heard of any other bands releasing box sets with marbles. At least you get a bag to put them in so you don't lose your marbles.:sly:

To be honest I've only been listening to Pink Floyd since I discovered them a few months ago, but I have been listening(and buying) a lot of their music and I am really impressed. I think an Animals Immersion set would be great. I previously never really listened to it until I saw The Machine preform the day before Thanksgiving. That was the first time I heard Pigs(Three Different Ones) and I really enjoyed listening to the rest of the album.

Speaking of The Machine that was a great concert and I would Highly recommend it if you've never see them. I looked on their Facebook page and found the setlist for the show I was at.

It was an amazing show visually and musically, though I wish they would have added in Another Brick in the Wall Pt.2, High Hopes, Arnold Layne, and On the Turning Away. I hope to be able to see them next time they come and hopefully they'll play some more great songs. I've also seen some of their playlists feature Echoes, maybe they'll play that next time too.

I will have to check them out sometime.

I was lucky enough to see Roger Waters 3 different times and it was amazing each time. The first time I was sophomore in high school and it was his first tour in ages, I think it was called In The Flesh. It was a small intimate theater tour and I saw it at Rosemont Theater outside Chicago. So amazing, Dogs was just unbelievable and the whole thing was awesome.

The second was a year or two later at what used to be called the New World Ampitheater in Tinley Park Illinois, this time a large scale venue but just as cool. I'm pretty sure both tours were called In the Flesh now that I think about it because I'm almost positive it was the same program guide both times.

The third time was at Marcus Ampitheater on the Milwaukee Summerfest grounds and the second half of the set was complete Dark Side, just awesome.

The one song I don't think I ever heard but always wanted was One of these Days. Each Small Candle, a Roger Waters song that is really good, is so powerful live it was almost the high point of the show. He always played a little bit of his own stuff but I enjoyed his solo stuff so it was fine with me. I actually like Radio K.A.O.S. the most.

I don't know if he still tours, haven't looked into it in a few years but if you ever get a chance to see him you absolutely have to. It's an opportunity you can't pass up.

Edit: and if you haven't seen it, there is a DVD of the In the Flesh Live tour, from the larger venues.👍

I don't have a wheel yet, that was the point of the First World Problems thread. That screen only looks high from that angle because my sofa is really low. My gaming chair is much better as it brings me to where the screen actually looks like a windscreen.

Shem, you look like an aristocrat :D:tup:

Thanks.

Nice rims, by the way. 👍

I thought you were a fat old guy. Well my imagination is ruined

See Keef's comment. :D

Actually Roger has been on the road for I think 2 years now doing The Wall Live tour. Ge's coming back to the U.S. next summer, including Citizens Bank Park in Philly, and a friend of mine said he might get tickets for us to go. I'm also hoping that David Gilmour will go out for at least one more tour. I'm a huge fan of his guitar and vocal work and would love to see him preform live.

One of These Days is an interesting song, having a double tracked bass guitars. It also only has one line of lyrics, "One of these day's I'm going to cut you little pieces.", sung in an extremely distorted voice, and even more interesting is that it's one of the very few songs to feature Nick Mason singing.

I haven't really listened to a whole lot of solo work the Roger or Gilmour has done, but I will check it out, same with the In the Flesh DVD.

If you're looking at the solo albums, I can heartily recommend Gilmour's On An Island, which is beautiful, melodic album, and Waters' The Pro's and Con's of Hitchiking and Amused To Death. Pro's and Con's is much more a story telling album, a bit like The Wall, whereas Amused to Death is more like The Final Cut; it won't make any sense at the start, but when the album is finished, you'll get what Roger is trying to say.

It turns out they were sent on Tuesday and were waiting in a neighbours house when I got back home last night even though the website still states the order is processing! They've got quite a few wheelsets on sale for another week or so, for (quite) a bit more cash you can get some seriously nice rims but mine are still awesome. Can't wait to get them on and go for a ride but hurricane tag nut is keeping me indoors :grumpy:

Thanks.

Nice rims, by the way. 👍
