(USED)

My 2nd Gen. PS3 finally gave up trying to read Blu-Ray discs over the last couple weeks. 4-years of abuse and I guess it's had enough. Found a gently used Slim 320GB system on Craigslist for $195, the guy sold it to me for $175 without the controller since I could use the ones I had.

Have people had a lot of trouble with later generation PS3 systems? Or even the 1st gen?

I have had mine since day of release, used every day, and it's still going strong. It's no good wireless anymore, but I always play wired anyway.

I just hope it holds up till next year.

Not sure. I've heard of many yellow light of death instances, but not something I have looked into. I think mine lasted longer than I thought it would. It still works, you'd just need to replace the laser I think. I'll be selling mine after I format the hard drive.

How much is a laser replacement?

Apparently the Slims have had some laser issues. My parents' Slim stopped reading Blu Rays this past summer. I think my dad purchased it in Jan 2010 and it certainly wasn't used for heavy gaming. Pretty frustrating.

I finally went out and bought a set of tires for my 2005 Subaru Impreza. Nothing special, just tires. About $425.00 out the door and only 30 minutes to install. I have had the car since 2009 and this is the first set of tires I purchased for it. In fact its only the 2nd set of tires ever to be on the car.

EDIT: I forgot to add the tire brand.

Hankook Ventus 205/55/16 from Discount Tire. Also bought the certificates for each tire for $10.00 each. Guarantees they will replace your tire no matter what happens. I always tell everyone to buy those certificates.

Man, I've been running my summer tires so far this winter. I really need a new set of winter tires for my subie but for the time being, I will live on the edge! :D

What kind of tires did you go with?

I had Kumho Ecsta AST tires on my turbo Miata and got through a Colorado winter with them. Great tire for the price, great in the dry too. They do get a bit noisy when they wear down though.

This is true. My laser reader is pretty close to dying. I bought it in 2010.

It's a good idea to charge a device to full when you get it. It helps to make sure the battery's capacity is conditioned for use.

Yep don't worry I did Its also a good idea to run the battery totally flat for the first few times to squeeze even more potential out of it. Its so much better than the cheapo £100 tablet I got from Argos. That thing took like 5 minutes from power on before I could even think of doing anything on it.

My '05 Pilot still has the factory tires on it.

Ooh, bad. I am guessing--hoping--mine's out of the problem zone as I got it in September '11. All I know is that it's the best system you can get now.
Except maybe a PC. But I'm Dooble, not Bucksaplenty, so it's a PS3 life for me. 👍 :)

The only thing i had to do to my Phat system was to replace the blueray lens since it gave up, but better then getting new system, but now its stronger then anything :)

If you know how to replace it open your PS3 and change the rack, or the lens i change the whole rack and now its works like new, the rack isnt that expensive got mine off ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=PS3+Lens&_sacat=0&_from=R40 But Remeber you need to find the right one for your system Cheers

Glad to see a man that has more than 4 shirts for work. The guys that started with me all said they had 4-5 shirts for work (we have casual Fridays) and I was dumbstruck, I have 10!

Bought myself a new phone, needed a new upgrade from my 6220c.
And I thought I'd make a big jump going from a Nokia 5800 to the S3! You'll love it.

Funny you say that too, at the time when i bought my 6220c it had been out for a year, and i was considering buying the 5800 instead

Bought this for $5. It was broke and I fixed it. The shutter was messed up, it didn't go down or up, it only needed a flat-head screw driver and tweezers. Came with a 55mm lens and a Nikon strap in which I put on my Nikon F2.

So my Razr kicked the bucket. It was well on its way to dying anyway as of late. That may have been my fault for using it as a full time internet connection. I somehow doubt it was built to pull 150-200GB a month for four straight months. But the thing totally gave up connecting to the Verizon network after about 10 minutes of being on and I would be lucky for the battery to last more than a 4 hours.

So I went and got a Nokia Lumina 920 on AT&T:

$30 for 3GB of data a month and $60 for unlimited text and calling. It comes out to the same cost as my old plan with the Razr. Payed $80 for the device itself. I wasn't planning on getting anything new for at least a month so I would have a solid WiFi connection still, but the Razr was getting to a point where I spent far too much timing d:censored:ing with it that it wasn't worth it for the internet.

Experience with WinMobile so far is...absolutely phenomenal. Everything is so smooth, so simple, and very pretty. Little touches make it feel warm and welcoming, where Android and iOS both feel kinda dry, speaking in terms of system menus, the home screen on Android can be made to look pretty damn nice. Its the most beautifully simple interface I've ever seen on a mobile device. I love it. I still love Android, but it was driving my OCD side completely insane.

I have lived in Michigan for 25 years. Summer tires are perfectly fine in the winter for an AWD car. Different story for RWD.

Oh I will have to update that reply. I only put about 7,000 miles on per year to and from work and dont race with it. So I just purchased some cheap all year Hankook Ventus 205/55/16 from Discount Tire. Also bought the certificates for each tire for $10.00 each. It's a TLR, so the top one is a viewing lens which projects the image onto a mirror, which reflects the image onto a focusing screen which you use to focus and frame the shot, and the bottom one is the taking lens which goes straight to the film. It's a lot quieter and there's less vibration than a conventional single lens design where the mirror has to flip out of the way so that the film can be exposed. Plus they're cool. :)
