Juan Pablo Montoya has accused Rubens Barrichello of deliberately blocking him during the Malaysian GP.

Montoya emerged from his final pitstop just behind the Brazilian, who held him up to allow team-mate Michael Schumacher to build a decisive lead.

Barrichello and Montoya are firm friends but the Colombian was less than happy with his chum’s behaviour this time around.

He said: "It was a shame I came out of the last pitstop behind Rubens. I got a bit of a run on him and as soon as I moved he closed the door straight away and his pace backed off."

Asked if it was a ‘dirty move’, Montoya replied: "Yeah. As soon as I went to move he moved and there was no point even trying to pass. There were 12 laps to go, I had new tyres so I just backed off and cruised."

Montoya said that once Barrichello had blocked him, he settled for second place.

He said: "At the end we backed off the revs, we backed off everything when Rubens got in the way. I went to pass him and he blocked me.

"If I hadn't had Rubens in the last stint, I think we could have been quite a bit closer because at the end I was really cruising.

"In a non-Ferrari, it's better to back off than to go out of the race. It's better to go home with eight points.

"Last year I think I had 12 points after five races. I have got 12 points now from two races. It's like last year - keep scoring points and see what happens in the end."

More proof (as if we needed it) that Montoya is a petulant whiner.

As soon as he has to work for position, he gives up and complains. If Rubens was slower, then he should have made a pass. Just like Monza last year, he is a quitter. 👎

JPM is a baby with a daiper and bottle worth what 2 million dollars. When in the race did he say that Reubens was holding him up? How would he have been making those gains on Schumi if he was behind Barrichello?

Being held up in racing is the biggest nonsense ever, when the driver in front of you is slower, you overtake.

"But he was blocking!!! WHENEVER I MOVED, HE'D MOVE!!!"

If you can't overtake a driver who's trying to hold you up, you shouldn't be in F1.

This is what happens when the egos are bigger than the sport itself. Since when was moving over for a position the method of judging racing skills....?

sounds like your average blame everyone but yourself type person to me. . . If you don't have the skillz deal with it. . .

Careful, isn't JPM a member on the boards?

...:irked:

no... seriously on this one, I'm fine with the fact that he avoided what happened at the last US GP, but yes, whining after that was a bit lame... but to say that he lacks in overtaking skills, pleeaaze.

oh well, got to live with my username I guess. Just hope this won't happen too often this year, maybe i'll have to start a new account...

Blocking is all part of the sport. He would do it as well if he had to. [/B]

Blocking at the beginning of the season? I don't think so... but anyway, I don't think that Rubino blocked him on that one.

I can't stand guys like this. I heard him say this live and couldn't take it anymore, so I turned the channel.

And this is the reason why he is not liked by anyone.

I said this just after the Monza race last year and I will re-iterate, that is a reason why he will not be a world champion, when do you ever see Michael quit?

To me Williams will be a better team without JPM. He's had everything with that team his own way. That's why him and Ralph don't get along. JPM needs to pull that funny front wing out of hiss a** and drive for once in his life with out complaining and crying.

Seems harsh I know but it's the truth.
