this is a pic of the new McLaren being tested at Silverstone at the moment. Looks familiar....

The new one looks better then the old design. The new nose looks better, but the slats connected to the actual wing are diagonal, whereas the ferraris are more vertical.

McLaren adopted part of the Ferrari nose, which Ferrari actually adapted from McLaren back in 98/99, everyone adopted Ferrari's raised exhaust system, Sauber uses a chassis that's a spitting image of the F2003-GA, Ferrari shortened their wheelbase and reduced the fuel tank size like that of the FW25, it's just a giant cycle.

I think that Mclaren are widening the nose to manage the airflow between the front wheels. It always struck me as odd that they were getting narrower and narrower.

Now, if that widened nose only improved reliability . . . .

Unfortunately, though, that's what happens with tightly-controlled regulations - it would be aesthetically nice if F1 cars could have as many varieties in car design as the LMP sports cars, but then it wouldn't be F1, would it? I personally don't care what they look like, as long as they can race well against each other.

Just my $.02 . . .
