Silvia comparision

I was mucking around, and decided to do a comparision between each 3 models
S13 K's 2000cc '91', S14 K's Aero '93,96' and S15 Spec-R Aero '99'.
I've noticed that S15 is indeed more Gripper than S13 and S14.
I know that they all use the same engine (SR20DET), but what you think,
I prefer S14 '93' as they indeed have the most torque out of all 3 base model,
but S13 tends to better suited at times.
All cars tend to range in power 290hp to 320 hp stage 2 turbo.

I can only see difference in numbers really. I cant notice a real flaw in any of any car compared to another.

They're all great:D
I just pick what I think looks best most of the times:P

what do you mean each 3 models? if you mean like every 240 in the game, then you missed a few. but if you were meaning just between thoes 3 only then ok.
they each have their flaws stock, but they are all different and unique.

Feels to me like the newer the model, the easier it is to control wheelspin without too much tweaking. S13s and S14s (K) seem to wanna burn out more... The S15 also seems to have slightly more "easy" handling characteristics, Though I haven't driven all of them recently, this seems reasonable as each newer model should be "nicer" to drive stock than the previous one...

The turn-in and willingness to oversteer is good for all 3 models. I have to admit I don't really notice much difference in all the various silvia/sx variations, but the SX hatchback, sileighty and S15 are my favorites stock.. may have something to do with weight distribution? :dopey:

Yep, but this is supposed to be a comparison and not a ranking isn't it ;)

for me i go with my nissan silvia s13 q's yes it is slow but i really like it cause i made my own settings and the front is the same as the sileightys ! :)

They SHOULD be unique, but thats where the size limits of games kick in;)

In GT5 they could try to make the cars more unique, I cant think of much things how to make them more unique, but I'm sure that its possible with sound for example. One thing I do know is that cars arent as similar to eachother in real life, compared to GT4 cars.

Anyone have a Say on the SilEighty which is considered to be a S13?

Its the easiest to control out of all for me

yeah my favorite car! its pretty easy to control and drift however i found that i seemed to lose a considerable amount of speed while drifting but this is with only increased hp and stock suspension

As far as SR20s go. There's a few roads to walk down...

  • S13 - Silvertop - Base Model motor that came with S13's in 1989, not to be confused with the Sentra SE-R's naturally aspirated version that came to the states.
  • S13 - Redtop - Equivelant of SE/LE in Japan, the higher trim version of the Silvia got this motor.
  • S13 - Blacktop - Same as the redtop's but with a black valve cover.
  • S14 - Redtop - Improved on the old redtop's weaknesses.
  • S14 - Blacktop - The first iteration of the SR20 blacktop, basically the best revision out there pre-S15. Only came out late in the S14's life.
  • S15 - Blacktop - The best version made yet. Currently not in production because of Nissan's quiet switch to all VQ series motors.

definately the S15. i drift an S15 it drifts a hell of a lot better than my nismo S14. havn't drifted an S13 yet though. S15 feels a lot more stable in a drift than the others. the grip is low enough to get majour angles but high enough to to keep your backside out of the wall.

No need to do that. Just don't be abusive.
I just don't want to get into an arguement over small things, not worth it(due to noob invasion,I have realized how much more mature I must be to set a good example to fellow GTP users)

Just so you know, new people are a GOOD thing. :)

Let's get back to the topic of silvias.

Any car made by Nissan that has Silvia,180,240, and of course Sileighty in it's name is a good car in my book, 👍 from the very first CSP11 Silvia to the S15, they all pwn in their own ways. :)

My favorite though would have to be the S13 and S14 K's, the S13 has some of the strongest brakes I have ever tested in its class and has great handiling ,plus a great turbocharged engine which has become legendary in the aftermarket. 👍

The S14 is my new ride in GT4 and I like it just a little bit more that the S13, a fully-tuned S13-S14 Silvia can be one hell of a giant-killer. :)

::nods in agreement::

I fancy the Spec-S and the Silvia Qs. I prefer N/As due to the lack of the turbo lag. Even though its a minor issue in cars, I'd like the sound of a Natural Aspirated engine than a Turbo. But I do love the exit speeds in a Turbo...but its up to the driver thank the car when it comes to that. Also to me, NAs are 'smoother' when it comes to drifting. More Stable to me acctually

Sorry you are right.
And yes the Sil80 doesn't get enough play, the S15 is good but I like the S13 best(so 180 + S13= win for me).

yea it really doesnt. my favorite car is the sileighty a mix between 2 of my other fav cars the 180sx and the silvia s13 its so beeuutiful :lol:huge sileighty freak

Um, yes they made S14's in 1993. The year for the cars is based on their Japanese release. I'm really sick of seeing S14's, they're like the new R32 Skyline - everyone has one and heaps of them are crashed up and crappy. That's the problem with cars like that, everyone ruins them. An unmolestered Pre-facelift S14 is a rarity now. I personally prefer the looks of the S12 Slivia liftback over the modern ones. I don't like the fat-arse bumpers on S13 and 14's.

I'm just upset no one mentions the SilEighty even though its a SR20 carrier

The Sil80 can come in many different flavors. The term SilEighty is just something tuners in Japan came up with when switching out the front end bumper, fenders, and hood from a One-Via to the original S13 front end. I've heard of Sil80's having SR20s from different generations of the Silvia, a few Sil80's use the CA18DE[T].

i read somewhere that Sil80, wasnt produced by nissan, but sold by nissan. The chassis was different to the 180sx, but used the same engine. This was more like a special model, for drifters in japan. The only real way to check for a gen sil80, it uses a different chassis to all others.
