Personally I'm glad that they included drift events, hopefully it will get more people into trying new things and different driving disciplines. Learning to drift a car can improve your grip racing ability quite substantially, if you are confident and experienced with a car when it is well beyond its limits then you can run much closer to those limits without fear when driving normally.
This is spot on for me. I didn't "learn to drive" in Gran Turismo until I learned how to drive in the dirt and snow in GT5. Learning that got me into Drifting. Learning that made me a lot quicker around any track than I ever was before.

I agree with the sentiment completely but I don't think its worth getting wound up or righteous about.
There isn't really a better way to quantify ability in these events than points. Judging by the more realistic criteria you suggest is impossible without a human judge. A computer can't tell what a nice entry is, it doesn't understand style, it won't give you extra props for using a difficult car or running a unique line.

Agree with you, this is the easiest way but at least these drift seasonal needs clipping points.
Lets drift together mate ,) !

I need the credits so I am having a few hours of grinding this event to help me out in the game. I prefer grinding this to the Red Bull races. At least I can achieve something in this event. my theoretical best is about 14-14.5k but I'm stuck on 11,992 now. Not bad for me really if I'm honest,
I dind't mean it to sound negative. I just don't have the patience to wait for the track to load up just to cruise through:)

Points are nothing, drifting is more than points.

I'm happy to see some Drifting in seasonal events this mean that PD know there is drifter in Gt but in other hand I don't like the fact that this discipline is reduce to points.
Drifting is more about angle, nice entry, e-brake, proximity to walls and tandem and note at all about points.
Also with this point system, the discipline become a lot more individualist and IMO drifting is a team work.

If there is some of you who wanted to practice drifting and just care about fun and not about points please add me ;) !!
Yes, but...the pointsystem (as crappy as it might be) does have a good side too. I can compare my ability to drift a specific line to a friend. Clearly, if I score 20k, and he scores 30k, he is better than me at following that line. And when I switch over to my G27, I can see progress as the point (hopefully) will increase :) That, plus I s:censored:k at chasing very close without bumping into the other car :indiff:, so I kind of prefer to go solo...even if it would be fun to tandem too :)

Add me and lets try to tandem together ;) .
Also you can't do backward entry with points (fail 0 pts ), normally IRL the backward entry is the most difficult and amazing trick you can do in drifting.

It would be a nice feature for sure, maybe just some apex flags or something to aim for and make it more interesting without putting it out of the reach of less experienced players.
Add me on PSN and I will try and join you some time (my gaming time is a bit slim at the moment due to work), always looking for new friends to drift with.

FYI...these are "repeatable".

Step 1...
Drift, get the Gold, get paid.

Step 2...
Back all the way out to main menu, go back to Seasonal Event, re-attempt.

Step 3...
Drive straight through, get less than the Bronze award.

Step 4...
Back out, and Repeat Step 1...

Step 5...
Repeat Step 2 and so on and so forth....

Actually, after cruising through, there's no need to back all the way out to the main menu. That's only needed after getting gold :)

I'll add you later tonight :) And yes, I know that's one error regarding the calculation of points :)

I'll add you too if it's ok? :)

You are correct. I tried to limit as much confusion as possible. One thing you cannot do is "Retry".

Cool thing is I am getting more points on average now. I score 11,000-12,000 now. Before I was getting 10,000. All the practice is paying off...though, to be honest, I'm still not "good" at it. And I am atrocious with a wheel. Cannot even score points, any points, consistently with the wheel. I Drift with the sticks.

Yeah, I find it close to impossible with the wheel. At least so far. From now on, I'm planning on doing gold with the wheel, and then bring out the DS3 to get the really high scores

Added a time zone table for the Seasonal to the OP.

There are a few countries listed that do not have GTP members…
…and probably a few not listed that do have GTP members.

I also used @eran0004 's How big is GT Academy in your country thread...
...and @UnoMOTO 's The GTPlanet world map thread for reference.

I tried to include country representation for all time zones…
…but its impossible to list all, and keep the table manageable.

Please PM me if you notice something that needs correction/editing…
…or if your country is not included, if possible, I will try to add.

And finally, big thanks to a fellow GTPer (you know who you are) who asked for no public credit.

Nice to see so well organized TT and DT threads :)
Keep up your great work @JogoAsobi 👍

Another note, DT credit glitch isn't patched :)

EDIT: Im now about 23500 pts on this DT and can still find atleast 1k if I got time.
I can post my tune during weekend but I higly doubt anyone else can drift with it

hey guys I think the best car might be the silvia 240rs (s110)`83 its much lighter and has better power to weight ratio

Not sure if it is the best. I made a tune and got around 10600. Hard work though - might have been my setup. I had a high rpm turbo, which only increased its natural peakiness. Maybe mid would be better to give some torque lower in the rev range.

EDIT: added a couple of pics - they have definitely improved the modelling on this one.

Tried @DolHaus S14 and got 12200 on first attempt, with plenty left. An easy going, stable and predictable tune - would be good for novice drifters.

As per usual, as hard as possible and as low as possible seems to be the recipe for drifiting.

I used the Silvia K's (S13) '91 and one thing that really stood out from the usual was that this car on this track do not benefit from full camber in front.

I wont bother to create a tune, because the settings I use is pretty much generic, the only thing that differ is the gearbox.
but I'll tell you how I set up the car for drifting:

-As low and as stiff as possible.
-Dampers as hard as possible (10).
-Max camber (10.0) Although for this specific car and event, I went with 6.5 in the front.
-Max toe out (-1.00)
-Stock brake bias (5/5)

-Differential: 60/60/40

-Maximum power including oilchange and NOS

Minimum weight, but try to keep the weight distribution at 60/40. (If the car is too lose you can put some weight in the rear and vice versa.) This car was pretty loose so I kept it at 58/42.

-Transmission: this is not generic, its specifically tuned for this car and this event.
1. set final gear to 5.500
2. set max speed to 180
3. set final gear to 4000
4. set ger ratios: (1st, 2nd, and 3rd is never used)
4th: 1.440
5th: 1.260
6th: 1.116

Oh, and this car needs a rear wing aswell! full downforce.

This got me 23 066pts. and I probably left 1000 out there.
I'll leave this here aswell:

Car Make/Model: Nissan Silvia K's Aero (S14) '96

Thanks for posting this tune, was able to get gold with it! 👍
Like you said, I found the S14 better for the transitions.

Gold is major for me, my drifting abilities are 🤬.
Will keep trying though, gotta start somewhere.

I found turning FFB down for the wheel helped too.
Using clutch/manual trans to downshift helps too.

:gtpflag:

@JogoAsobi : I never really understood why you found the drift events so tough, now I know, ditch the wheel m8! drifting with a wheel in GT6 is far more difficult than it is even in real life, so no point in trying to be realistic in that aspect.;)
