Slalom Advice needed

I'm trying to pass one of the license tests for the I-B license but i can't do the slaloms without either bashing in to the things or swerving crazily from side to side. Can someone give me tips on how to do these things- do you brake or just step off the accelerator? Thanks

Stepping off the accelerator works in the opening stages of the slalom, but as you gain speed, you may want to tap the brakes to regain control of the car. This test is a recognized test as a truly painful experience to gild. Good luck.

Try and keep your steering to a minimum. This will help reduce swerving, as well as give you a straighter path, saving you time. Do this by turning just enough to miss the barriers. (You may also want to move the car over a little before you get into the slalom to help better set the car up for the first couple turns.) In the later stages of the course, you may have to let off the accelerator; do this as little as possible, too.

P.S. Don't worry, it took me forever to recieve a gold in this, too.

Someone just asked this question last week. Here's what helped me.

I'm one of these drivers who likes racing with the small car view, I only switch to the in-cockpit view (with the rearview mirror) for variety's sake. Here's what I found: at the slaloms, it's much much better to always go with the bumper view all the time, it just helps to see the tire walls with more precision. Also, whoever drove the demo car was most likely using buttons. If you're an analog person, it's easier cuz all you gotta do is keep a consistent speed.

Another thing. are you using analog for steering or the d-pad? If you're using analog, it helps to keep your thumb on the mushroom as much as possible. I'm personally in the habit of removing my thumb as I'm racing so this is hard for me.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them out when I have time out from stupid exam revision :yuck:
Parnelli Bone, I'll have a go with the analog, i thought it would be just as easy with the d-pad which i've used forever- i read someone somewhere say using the d-pad was like slamming the brakes on everytime you touched them and accelerating at full throttle all the time.
Superkerbut and ty00123, I haven't even bronzed it yet never mind gold! Yes i am truly useless :)

To be honest, I rarely manage to 'gold' my license tests...:dunce: i know shameful!
I have enough trouble passing them as it is- I know GT is a game that doesn't agree with me but it's too fun to give up!

It's not shameful. It takes a lot of practice to get good at the licenses. It's more important to have fun. The licenses aren't fun...they take a lot patience and nobody golds them early on.

Fast Slalom - IB-8

Long time since I did the licences.
IB-8 it all about rhythm - Once you find it, you'll get gold

Took me a long, long time just to get the Bronze.
Silver and Gold followed quickly.
Advanced - Full acceleration all the way! I would get through maybe once in a hundred runs, but beat the Gold time by a mile.
Best 17.347
