587ps RB26 errday!

Oh, old D1 is awesome aswell. Well new D1 is awesome, but it's being filled with massive HP and ugly cars. Oh wait, that sound about like Formula D but no one says that's turning into NASCAR because it JDM tyte y0!

EXACTLY!
"You need power to drift in Formula D, not so much in D1"
BULL****!
I remember when Kuroi's car was one of the few (or only?) S-chassis with that much power.
Now that's about average.

Oh well, at least it's more exciting and faster now.
I'm not gonna lie, if I drove, I'd want a tubed chassis and a V8 too.

I don't see why people are so bothered about tubed front and rear sections. If it was so bad they would be banned! Fair enough a full spaceframe chassis with a body on like the LS E46 that everyone went crazy about not to long ago.

If I drove i'd have a tubed chassis and a JZ

If I wanted rigidity and strength I'd use a Saab or a Chevy Bel Air. You need balance for drifting, everything has to be balanced. Personally, I love the sound of V8's, but I won't deny that any l4 or l6 will sound way better everytime.

That's just stupid. A car with a full cage in it and tubed chassis will be alot stronger, ridgid and lighter then either of them.

Balance is where engine placement and firewall mods, as well as tire sizes and downforce kick in. Their main priority before that is to knock off as much weight as possible, and then steering and suspension.

Lets be honest.. you wouldn't have as much fun in a full weight reduced, tubed S-chassis, than you would in a power-house Saab. In Saab's well the older ones anyway, the pillars and chassis are so strong you don't need a cage or tubes. Pretty sure they were light too, although I can't remember. XD

Being me, I'd do the stupid thing, unlike you sensible people... :indiff: I like doing awkward things... O.O

EDIT: @Powell: I'm talking about drifting as a whole not just the car setup. You need to balance everything in drifting, in order for it to work. Throttle, steering input, etc, etc.

Oh yeah, that was on top gear. Then They just put really narrow light cages to pass the regulations in motorsports. I tend to go for feeling and reliability, so wheelbase and engine would be my main concerns.

I'm pretty sure I could have just as much fun in say... Seimi Tanakas onevia as I would in a SAAB.

Nothing better then sinking a few beers at the pub in this amazing weather!

I want in on the debate ;p. I love D1SL for a number of reasons, one being the fact that the only frame modification allowed is a weld in cage, but most of the drivers use bolt in kits. Its less of a hassle/expense to do it that way, and that leads me to this. Tanaka has a welded in cage thats all. Your arguement is invalid Adam :P

In 2 weeks and 3 days, I will officially be able to do this. For now, I HATE YOU! That's all. :dopey:

@Ryan - I would be concerned about the safety of oneself by putting a "bolt in cage" in any car. If I was to put a cage in a car, it would definitely have to be proper. I.E Through the firewall to the struts, and welded onto the pillars of the car via gussets. :P

EDIT: Could someone jump on GT5 for 10 mins, to help me out with a photoshoot please?

**** that, there is a guy in Ohio who custom makes weld ins that won't go through your dash. Its what I'm buying.

Oh I know he only had a cage and nothing else, lol. I was just using him as an example of a lightened, caged car.

Why in 2 weeks and 3 days? It will probably be raining by then.

And you don't need a cage that crazy for more safety. Bolt in cages are perfectly safe other wise they wouldn't be allowed to be sold.

I'm not really bothered about a cage going through my dash, fair enough it will be a pain to get the dash back in with a windscreen in, but oh well, lol.

For those that don't know - I passed my RAF Interview today. So I guess you could say I'm doing a "Cro" and disappearing forever BUT I'll still be around. I'll have 9 week training in RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire and then 7 months in RAF Cosford in Shropshire (It's ok Pwner, you wont know where these are). This wont start until around early June-ish. Dates are unreliable at the moment.

In other news - You should all listen to this band whilst trying to drive. You will die from laughter before you could finish a lap of Nurburgring.

They have 6 band members, 1 plays the drums... the rest play instruments with their mouths... Just listen.
