Now by fixed class you mean we pick a car and stick with that for the whole season right? Depending on the class chosen I'd be up for a second season, though I expect balancing the teams is gonna be a challenge. How will you deal with people not showing up for rallies due to lack of interest or just being busy with other things?
Class would be A8 or EVO cars (open to suggestions here), all season long.
Team option 1 is to have free car selection throughout the season. Team option 2 would be to have the teams agree on a manufacturer and stick to the same car all season.
In my DiRT Rally league we have run seasons with teams and they have worked out well. It's impossible to get the balancing perfect, and obviously the focus is on the general standings, but the aggregate of teams (and especially teams tied to a manufacturer) add a nice extra element of competition and give the slower people something to aim for.
I understand your concern regarding attendance. It is imperative for all those who sign up for a team are dedicated to doing all the rallies. We had a good consistent turnout for this past season so I am confident we can pull it off. Again, I've done it successfully in our DR league. And to help, instead of setting a fixed calendar, I think we should just leave the rallies with open dates. Start off with Monte and say everyone should shoot for doing it within ten days, but if we have to wait for some people, no problem. We aren't really in a rush. It could extend the season's time a bit more, but personally between the GTS FIA races, this SLRE league, my DiRT 4 League and a WRC 7 league I am participating in it's been a tough couple months. So I understand time constraints and we can do whatever possible to accomodate those who need more time. The most important thing is for people to commit. Anyway, in the worst case scenario we would just disband the teams if participation becomes erratic. It's just an extra bit of fun that helps the slower guys have more fun and adds an extra element to the competition, so if everyone is planning on continuing it would be something great to do.
This second season would end roughly a few weeks before Codemasters' new rally title is released and I am sure when that happens interest for continuing with SLRE will diminish unless it turns out to be another DiRT 4-esque flop.
