Could I please ask a favor of @Sepponaattori , @Drex124 , @Georgeagea , @Smithers1968 and @cjr3559 :

Please send me a private message with your preferred car: Lancia Delta, Ford Escort, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza and Toyota Celica.

If the five of you commit as well as RallyHOLiC we will have 15 participants to make 5 teams of 3 drivers each. Once we have the teams worked out I will look at the rules. For example, if someone doesn't do a rally, how to compensate the team. But the idea is to allow everyone to participate even if we have to extend a rally for a week or so.

So please confirm your participation! Thanks!
Can I let you know tomorrow so I have a chance to test drive them all? Quite often the cars I like aren't the ones I'm any good with!

I've recently moved to PC and don't have SLRE on there, so I am a bit doubtful of my participation levels. I'd rather not ruin the fun for others by not participating in every rally so I'm out. Thanks for the fun season and good luck with the upcoming season

Sorry for the delay, everyone. I had an unexpectedly hectic week. Here is the team proposal. Very few missed out on their first choice of car. Internally (our Spanish WhatsApp group) we are OK with this but it's not final, so now I pitch it here to get some feedback. You can see each team with its members. The ones in bold were the ones who got locked into their preference due to being highest in last season's standings. The rest I have accomodated as best as I could. You can also see last season's points totals (along with estimations for those who didn't participate).

Also attached is the voting.

Please let me know what you think.

Looks good to me, I’m ready to start when everyone else is.

Announcing Season 2 of the SLRE Honor System League

liga-slre-encabezado-2_ee8b6.jpg

Welcome to Season 2. This time we will be doing four-day rallies (eight stages each) with heavy damage. One rewind per stage will be allowed to help mitigate those rally-ending mistakes. However, it's only one per stage, so choose wisely when you think it's really necessary. Heavy damage is extremely punishing so outright speed may give way to consistent and clean driving at times.

Rally Configuration

Settings are nearly identical to the previous season except for the change in rally duration, damage and rewinds:

  • Rally Calendar: Four Days
  • Driving Style: Open
  • Auto-brake: Open
  • Stability Control: Open
  • Traction Control: Open
  • Transmission: Open
  • AI: Easy
  • Damage: Heavy
  • Rewind: 1 (one)
  • Look to Apex: Open
  • Ideal Line: Open
The four items in bold are required settings. The rest is up to you. The race options screen should look like this:

slre2-rally-config_a9b0b.jpg

The honor system means no practicing the stages and no restarting stages or the whole rally. At the service park you can save and exit and come back later or another day to finish.

The first stage (SS1) of each rally will be used as a shakedown. You may run up to five shakedowns to acclimitize to the surface characteristics and do setup work.

The points distribution rewards the top 15 finishers: 30-26-23-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1

Power Stage points will be awarded to the fastest five drivers on SS8: 5-4-3-2-1

Each rally will demand about an hour of play time. Please remember at a minimum to take screenshots of your SS8 time and your overall rally time. Even better is to take screenshots of stage times and total times at the end of each stage. Even better still is to record the rally even if you don't have intentions of sharing it on YouTube.

Calendar

To ensure steady team participation we will run the rallies with an open time limit. However, the target time for all participants to complete each rally should not exceed two weeks.

Teams

Each driver has been assigned to a team in the A8 Class and will use that car throughout the entire season. Each manufacturer consists of three drivers. All three drivers are nominated to score points for the team.

Here are the manufacturer teams:

Toyota
Lucas_Picone1
Smithers-1968_
alepontearg

Ford
Drex124
davilook
Georgeagea

Subaru
SonOfTheBlues
cjr3559
PabloNeu2013

Lancia

Mohican4844
RallyHOLiC

Mitsubishi

That's the Season 2 proposal. If everyone understands and agrees with the rules I will proceed to post the Monte Carlo info.

Round 1: Monte Carlo

slre2-monte-encabezado_6fa44.jpg

Season 2 is officially underway with Rally Monte Carlo. This is the toughest one on the calendar and last season many drivers ran in to big trouble. The pace notes don't help, either. The rewinds must be chosen wisely as Monte is full of traps.

Don't forget we are using Heavy Damage - drive accordingly!

Stated my season yesterday. Got off to a bad start when I broke my windscreen early in the first stage, which lead to more mistakes until service Opted not to use rewind because there are some nasty sections later in the stage where I could do some real damage.
Halfway through my game froze on loading stage, which I've never seen happen before. Killed it and was able to continue on reload.
Also, I'm sure I repaired suspension and steering on the final service yet clearly had a broken wishbone or track rod for the last two stages!
Here are my times and video evidence;

Power Stage: 08:21.638
Total : 48:59.910

Perhaps you didn't have enough time available for a complete repair. Is that even possible?

That's why he's team captain!

It annoyed me enough to review my footage - For some reason I used my last 16 mins repairing Exhaust and Intercooler rather than suspension. Don't know why - I always prioritise control over power.

I just took a look, too. It seems you just overlooked the suspension on accident.

Overall 49:00.556 for Monte Carlo. Confirmation of race settings are in the video (way, way, way down at the bottom of the post).

Wow that’s close between @Smithers1968 and me, a half second!

Will the other drivers be posting their times and replays?

Yes, we tend to have lots of those photo-finishes, at least one per rally.

RallyHOLiC just uploaded his video. I suggest you just find everyone on YouTube and subscribe so you know when they run. Very few post here given that 75% of the league is non-English speakers.

I'm actually delighted by this result. Can't believe myself.

Video will be uploaded.

I'm gonna guess the longer stages will be rewarding consistency and being able to keep the car on the road this time around a lot more than outright speed. Well... to an extend anyway.

Sidenote: If tech is cooperating I will probably be streaming my attempt tomorrow around 3 pm EST

I DNF'ed on SS4.

SS4, the dusk stage where you have to drive with no headlights. I can’t recall, but is there a way to turn on/off headlights in SLRE? If not, you basically have to drive the dusk/dawn stages practically blind.

I've never had issues driving at dusk/night. Maybe you broke something?

I quit after the second hairpin. The car had damage from the previous stage. Lost 3rd,4th,5th and 6th gears, steering broken, puncture. I didn't even bother continuing even though it probably cost me PS points.

Don’t think anything broke, it just seems the headlamp intensity on the dusk stages are weak. The night stages seem good though.
