Story time.

This weekend has been one that chewed my wife and I up, spit us out, stomped mudholes into us and walked them dry.

Wife woke me up Saturday morning, much earlier than our usual GTFOo Bed time these days, been sleepin' in on Saturday 'til 10a, sometime 11a, telling me there's a puddle of water under the fridge and half the kitchen. So's I jump outta' bed and wade into the mess to discover the ice maker has decided to betray my 30 years of trust and lock up a set of cubes and then let water flow over everything in the freezer. We had blocks of ice in some of the door baskets and a 1.5" thick sheet in the bottom. Shoved the fridge away from the wall, turned off the water and started cleaning up. Get that all cleaned up and after pulling the ice maker out of the freezer, discovered it was more than feeling its age and was pretty much unrecoverable. Wife and I have been dithering back and forth about buying a new one for 2 or more years and this put the period in that "discussion" . As we're heading out to do some appliance shopping the wife noticed some discoloration in the carpet at the base of the stairs and also noticed the ceiling panels are looking a bit strange, comes to me with those sad eyes and asks me to come have a look. That thing musta' been pourin' water most of the night. Spent some time getting some of that water vacced up while she ran an errand before we toddled "off to town" to look for a new fridge. Stopped at 3 "appliance" specialty stores lookin' at fridges and stoves but ended up buying one from the Lowe's gettin' place. Once we had one picked out I was fairly amazed they said they could deliver it today. So I had to come home and make room in the garage for the old fridge, which is where it will be relegated to until it dies completely, and get prepped for the new one to come in. Spent part of this morning tearing out the wife's "chaos gardens" out front of the house, ya' know, pulling all the flower stalks out an tillin' the rest in, rakin' it all out nice and purty, and between getting one flower bed done and starting on the other, the gentleman from the Lowe's delivery contractor showed up. So, stop what I was doing to get that all squared away. Spent the next couple hours getting the new fridge all cleaned up, filters installed and water system flushed then head off to the the wally world gettin' place for some "things" then the Tractor supply gettin' place for some bags of flower bed soil fortification, since wally world didn't have what I was lookin' for. Stop at the pizza place for an early dinner/supper/whatever ya' call it where yer at, then back to wally world for a couple more bags of ice to keep them vittles chilled out while the new fridge is getting acclimatized to it's new home.

Out with the old and in with the new, with some not so fun clean up in between, that isn't done just yet. Fan still blowin' on that carpet.

Yeah, it's got what I call a "Dumpster Freezer". Not a big fan of them but the GE 4 door we really liked the freezer part of, didn't have external ice/water dispenser. I reckon this one'll have to do us, hopefully for the next 30 years. If I should live that long anyway.

I told you all that so I can tell you this, don't know if I've the energy to race tonight, I want to, cars are all prepped, dunno if my eyes and body will make it that long. Not even sure I've got the energy for the warmup room that I usually stand up in like 2 minutes and haven't prepped any settings for. If I do make it tonight, I'll be coming in cold like Nick. Unlike Nick, there's no way I'll be running anywhere near the front if I do make it in.

Will see how it goes I reckon.
