I think the biggest negative the game gets is being compared too much rather than seen for what it is. But the positive impressions have me hooked. My psp disc drive just flopped on me yesterday. It will be my homebrew PSP for now on, Will get a legit PSP soon along with GTPSP...
Oh come on...you have a "homebrew" PSP, so therefore you will download the game from a torrent site, or newsgroup, and that will be that. I don't even know why people bother to mention having a "homebrew" PSP, because that term is so overused and undervalued. Homebrew = piracy, simple as that.

a real GTR does not sound like that....I own one and drive it almost daily....
the engine sound in this game is a disappointment like all GT games
Yep, I just took delivery of my flying pig today too.

On topic though, I played a copy of this today, and suffice to say, I will not be buyinig it. Just feels like a cut-down version of GT4 with less modes and races. A bold effort, but too little too late.

This is twice you have accused someone of pirating this game because they mentioned something that you think means piracy immediately. Previously it was just because they bought a Memory Stick (GASP!!!).

Quit jumping to conclusions and accusing people of illegal activity.

Yeah, and then he will play the ISO on the 6.00 CFW he programmed entirely on his own just to pirate this game.

my friend got the regular version of gt psp today. But i didnt, i orderd the collectors edition, but that just dosen't seem fair to me. They could have sent of mine aswell. But it was dispatched this morning, so hopefully i get it tommorow.Hopefully.......

I Made my purchase about 25 days ago,It was the normal version.

Well i bought the collectors edition of play will be here tommorow I guess, but a gamestation where I live started selling them 1 day early so I bought it aswell lol. been playing a couple of hours on and off. Ive bought a honda NSX and a nissan 350 fairlady, it is good really good.

I was wondering what the incentive of "leveling up" each track was (aside from proving you´re a good driver), but getting more money in exchange for that sounds like a cool concept.
I also noticed that the AI gets more competitive as you level up at a track too. Whereas in D rank the AI would get easily left behind, in S mode they can always stick behind you.

I've also noticed that the AI start pushing hard on the last lap like how race drivers stick around in a safe spot for most of the race then break out at the end.

I've switched to auto shifting, because the manual gearing makes me feel like a contorsionist.
I switched the button input to have R upshift and L downshift and not use the D pad, it's much better imo.

How does the HUD work out? Is it intrusive? Could they have gone with a more lite touch?
The HUD isn't intrusive at all, it's actually very informative, when in cockput mode, it just sits where the dials would normally be, it's very simple and straight to the point, when I was playing it (during a lecture...) with the sound off, the rev meter is really effective.

The game is really suited for portables, the only problem I have with it so far is actually beef with the PSP itself. The PSP doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons so when you press X it's giving the car full throttle, but then I quickly learned to overlap the throttle/braking with steering, so it stops going crazy. This is mainly because I usually play GT with a G25 so I really miss the pressure sensitivity. But it's just like play GT with a controller, so I've been spoiled. XD

This is all great insight, I really can't wait to play it now.

I don't want to ask too many questions because I wanna find some stuff out on my own, but what I'm still curious about is the Jackpot and the voice over - how do both of them play out?

Wow. Homebrew does not only mean pirating games. I'll bet my entire UMD library that I own more games on UMD than you do.... I RIP my own games that I own. so i dont have to lug a case of umd's around. I also am big on PS1 titles that I own aswell and 8 and 16 bit emulators. The PSP is a wonderful device.

I make enough to support Sony and their great hardware and software. My PSP is launch 1001- model.

Yeah, that´s what I will do too (once I will be ready to learn to drive manual, that is...). I really wonder why this wasn´t the default assignment, seems much more logical (Formula 1 gear paddles come to mind), but oh well ;)

If by jackpot you mean by winning cars, then I haven't won any cars yet, not even when I've gotten all golds on A and B challenges. So I'm not sure if there prize cars in this game at all...

The voice over during races is basically, "ready? START! FINISH!"

The majority of VO so far from what I've played are in the challenges, when you take a challenge, and go to the tutorial Jay leno gives you a really nice indepth look at what you should do and why.

I learned that you should brake, steer, brake, steer for maximum usage of the tires, which is also what causes cars to jerk around when going into a corner, I never knew this before when no one pointed it out to me, so I really like the voice over, it's really very good, kind of weird to hear a guy talking in GT at first. Haha

Another thing I thought of just now, I haven't seen a photomode in this game yet, I wonder if you unlock it by doing the challenges like the custom soundtracks...

Seems like the two "main" modes of the game both have more flesh to them then I originally thought... As a newcomer I am really looking forward to the extensive challenge mode - seems it´s a great way to really learn and refine driving skills, and even though I have rarely seen anything from Jay Leno I´m really forward to his tips :embarrassed: Leveling up on the tracks and earning money will take another nice chunk of gaming time - I read that the later skill levels can be brutally hard (some goes for the later challenges).

Sounds like the perfect entry to the series, which is just what Kaz said it would be. Seems like the whole game structure makes more sense than some of the reviews made us think. Can´t wait to evaluate this myself. Hopefully my copy arrives on Friday, which means a really sweet weekend with not a lot of sleep :sly:

Why did you guys, make the game sound fun to play? Now i need to buy a PSP and GTM! You guys could have said it sucks, that would have saved me some money!! It's all your guys fault that i have to buy it!!:sly:

I got this and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, pop GT in my PSP and have yet to open my Ninja Gaiden! GT on PSP running 60 frames per second is a sight to behold, really impressive (even despite some slight technical issues)!

Good thing GT moblie does not have GT mode.. Because I will play this game on the go and before sleep. I just wanna pick up and play, not to do 1000 lap race ... This is Mobile, if you want GT mode buy GT5!

It's only going to get worse tomorrow.

I'll see that I take my fair share of the blame.

I must say I am enjoying it, the physics are good and made to work well with the crappy controls. It feels like a modernised GT4 to me, GT4 visuals with a modern user interface.

Quick question.

Is it Jay Leno's voice in the PAL version too?

Nope, some females voice, although it seems he still says "Ready!" and "Start"

The physics feel a bit away from GT4. you can't drift in gt4 that well. the cars go sideways nicely in GTPSP on N3's. My first car was teh Muegen S2000. the tire sounds are better than gt4's i noticed.

That is what I did too, immediately. But it doesn't work nicely for me on the PSP, as I don't have a good hold on the PSP. I am going to look for a solution where I can fit the PSP on something like a sixaxis.

I've been playing GTPSP for about 5 hours now..love it.
Best way to check the manufacturers so you don't miss too many cars for sale I've found is to do 2-3 races and the day will update hence the cars available for sale.
I have about 45 cars alwready..lol..love it.

Reality check - you cannot buy GT5 yet. It's not out until March 2010 in Japan at the earliest.

Use a PSP go and hook up a PS3 pad to it.

Actually, I think this is a cheaper option that will work quite nicely. :)

Quick question, what would you compare the driving model in GT PSP to?
(i.e. like GT4 on PS2 or GT5P on PS3)

Kay, so now you can play your MP3s doing races lol

did Leno realy say exactly that?
that would be pro!

and my other much mor urgend question:
Someone on a german forum said gtpsp does have skidmarks?
is this correct?
i just cant thnk of, otherwise it would have been stated here allready, wouldnt it?

Whoa, I´ve been looking for some grips for the PSP all over the place! I had something like that for my GBA SP and it was very comfortable, perfect for prolonged Castlevania and Metroid sessions :) Let us know how sturdy it is, I might consider one too! Oh, and what´s the products name and where are you ordering it from? I´ve heard that these things are very model-specific, ie a grip for the 1000 will not fit on the 2000 and 3000...

PSP + 16GB Memory + Copy of GT + the grips...

Right, much cheaper than a PSP Go with "free" copy of the game, and the ability to use a PS3 pad that 99% of people on here will have anyway...

:lol::lol:

EDIT> Just for clarity, I already own a PSP, so there is no sense in buying a new one, even if it is a PSP Go with GT included. All I needed and bought is the grips.
