I've spent a considerable amount of time in two different Mustang II's. Both were notchbacks (The uglier of the two styles IMO).

One belonged to my older brother. He let me take it out when he came to visit.
Okay for 2 people, anyone in the back should be a small child or legless.

Not much of a performer in stock trim. The 2.3 can be built to make quite a bit of power. It is a SOHC after all, with a fairly sturdy bottom end. You can get 200 HP out of one fairly easily.

Contrary to popular belief, they are VERY heavy for thier size. At least when pushing one out of sand.

They sold very well, but comparatively few survive.

It will need a bucket load of work it the price is indicative of condition.

I was actually serious. You'll explode.

No, it's not quite the same as the Pinto it's based on.

The Pinto was so weak that in the event of a rear-end collision, the doors were jammed shut and the tank had a high likelyhood of lighting up, killing the occupants.

In Mexico Mustang IIs were all 302-V8 powered because of a federal law that mandated all engines to be made in-country and ford didn’t have (nor want) to have the 4-pot foundry in here, so every little Rustang II here is sweet running even with the anemic 8 cilinder of those days, I’ve seen these with some bolt ons and they cream the tires, and there is one around that runs 10s with the number’s matching motors and a procharger on a carb.
