1_ challenging track, The 'Ring for obvious reasons
2_ Easy Track, El Capitan becuase I tune cars there and have learnt all the turns.
3_ For testing settings, El Capitan again driven every car I have tuned there
:)

alright nice i fully agree with numero uno. you would've happen to have a runner up for either 2, or 3 would you?

1. Nurburgring Nordschleife
2. Trial Mountain
3. Fuji '05 GT (I love drifting on the runoff strips)

another great batch, im liking how much Nurburgring is popping up in all the categories.

These are my favourite track...

First, the Nurburgring. This track really is testing my patience, especially with the bumps and challenging corners. Also good for testing too... (The most challenging)

Second, the Laguna Seca. This track is just brilliant and is quite challenging too... With the 'Corkscrew' really tests the braking and the cornering ability of the car and the driver. Just an awesome track for endurance racing like the Nurburgring!! (Think I'm pro here)

Lastly, the Fuji 2005. This is just, looks like an easy track but sometimes, it isn't. The track really tests the mechanical grip of a car and it really is challenging for some understeery cars. Good testing track... Apricot Hill is the most favourite track for testing for sure with lots of corners...

So those are my favourite and actually I have more but I just list the top 3 there... Thanks for reading :)

you have 4 tracks listed buddy can you break them down into 3 and a bit more specific for me on you third paragraph:dunce:.

Sorry mate... Again mistake :(

I would love to say, the best test track will be the Apricot Hill but Fuji is great for mechanical grip... But not as much corners as the Apricot Hill...

So I'll Chose Apricot Hill...

  1. Hong Kong: One thing I've learned about Hong Kong is, its hard to get used to the track even after all this time. The top-speed-to-dead-stop sections catch me out sometimes even today, and I have found that it can be very hard to set a car up for the track because of the high curbs, 90-degree turns and the elevation changes. Opera is a close second, but Opera is a bit easier because of how-low speed and flat the whole affair is.
  2. SSR5: I've loved this track since I first played GT2 ten years ago, and while I hate the GT4-specific changes (not as much as the ones for Midfield, though), they overall don't matter enough. Its just fun to drive on, even with a total pig of a car.
  3. SSR5: Admittedly, the smooth surfaces don't make it ideal for testing handling stability (too smooth to upset most cars), but because of the high speed switchbacks, the elevation changes in/before the corners, and the 540 degree turn before the straight and the 270 after it; I am able to get a very good feel for any car I try at the track.

alright MF Raceway is you runner up for 2, do you have one for 3 or is SS5 definitely more of your test/tune than 'walk in the park'?

I did it based on the first post. #1 - Challenging Track. #2 - Walk in the Park. #3 - Testing Track.
So SSR5 is both. I practically loathe Midfield in GT4 after what they did to it.

yea i got you, i didnt make it clear that one track couldn't be listed in more than one group so when it occurs i just ask because most of us have a runner up for each groups.

Every since i started playing GT, SS5 has been my favorite track.

To me it has everything, a long straight, medium speed corners, fast chicanes, a hairpin, and a 90 degree corner. Plus it has elevation changes which make car setup imperative.

Oh and i almost forgot, its a track set at night on what seems to be a highway, kinda reminds me of street racing. :D

👍 The setting of the track also reminds me of street racing.:)
NFS is what comes to mind.

there is a slight difference in GT3's MF Raceway and GT4's, in Gran Turismo 3 it was a smoother easy fast pace track much like High Speed Ring in the previous GT's as well as GT3, but on Gran Turismo 4 it seem to be more realistic and required more attention to detail and skill to adjust to it. but yea it was a minimal change.

Midfield is too easy but I don't really like turn 5 and 6 across the bridge... Just hard but again, it's not really an easy track TBH... Once you get it wrong there, you will lose some pace through turn 7 which is the long left handed corner..

that is true but what do you think was MF Raceway easier on GT3 or GT4? it seemed easier to tackle on 3, but more rewarding to tame GT4. i would say i'm around 95% or better wins there minus the mis-shifts errors that cause time loss as well as over driving into a corner and losing time in the grass.

It's way easier in GT3 for sure... But driving in GT4 version really is testing our driving skills.

I always have that mis-shift error usually at turn 5 and 6, because on the short straight the car can always be on gear 5 or 6 (Audi R8 TDI) depends on how fast you are at turn 3 and 4 (Chicane like)... The grass is not really my problem but the place where you really lose soooo much time is where at turn 6 inside the tunnel where the additional run-off really like to put your can straight into the grass or hitting the wall...

the grass is an issue on the Reverse course when i'm running on R1 or R2 tires. but its a testing but alot easier Normal on softer tires, i love taking my FF Honda's there!

I hate that track when it comes to reverse layout... I like to drive my Audi R8 TDI Race Car there... It's just the concept is simple.. Not too challenging, not too easy... But it's just a nice track :)

SRinc., why critique every person's list, and call them out for not making absolutely clear that their list fits your criteria? I understand that some people don't read the first post carefully, and that the thread becomes redundant if people just list their favorite tracks, but this:

you have 4 tracks listed buddy can you break them down into 3 and a bit more specific for me on you third paragraph:dunce:.

seems to me to be a very poor way to approach a discussion you started. And advertising your own threads, as I see you've done, is poor forum etiquette. :ouch: I also have to admit that I don't remotely understand referring to yourself in the third person, or why you put that "™" on your name. :boggled:

Fitting into your categories, I've never performed well relative to others (in OLR competitions) at some tracks, like Trial Mountain and Suzuka, but that doesn't mean they're my favorite challenging courses. One of my best tracks is Citta di Aria, but I still don't find it easy, so I'd nominate that in the first category. Perhaps the track where I do best relative to others, without at all knowing why, is La Sarthe, but Autumn Ring and Motorland would fit in that category, as well, for me. Finally, I never tune cars, so there's nothing for me to select for number three.

i get what your saying but its not a 'poor way' of dealing with it. its not that im critiquing everyone's list im giving my personal feedback as to the user's post, in some cases agreeing and in others not. it just an opinion. its conversation really and no one has seem to objest to it but you so far. TM is because its a 'trademark' name amongst my motor head buddies SRinc, Strictly Racing Inc. is my team's name. i use it as third person in some cases mainly in thread titles, because its an actual entity its a team that exists and i'm using it as the 'company's' name, and my tuned car is the SRinc. EG_8 Si, in my profile picture. also i use my threads as reference not as advertising.

Now to your list, Citta di Aria is a challenging course to me as well. are you talking about Sarthe I or II tho? but 'I never tune cars? does that mean you just throw the parts on them and not dial in on the settings?

But if you open a thread for discussion, what's the point of it if you try to argue that a particular track actually isn't challenging, or easy, or good for tuning suspension? People are just giving their opinions, and to me, for the thread starter to disagree means that freely giving opinions is discouraged. To illustrate that, suppose that someone read this thread and saw that you called Tokyo easy. Would that person be inclined to list it as a challenging one if he knew you were just going to reply that it is, in fact, an easy track?

Also, for me, having the thread starter dominate the discussion like you are makes the thread seem like it belongs to him (in other words, his personal thread), rather than being for the benefit of all members. I find the nitpicking excessive, too; how much does it really matter if someone doesn't list a runner-up in one of the categories? And what I mean by advertising is making posts in different threads that say to "check out" your thread. For example (and I've seen this other times from you, too), in the "GT4 track you hate most" thread:

check out my fave 3 track thread guys, SRinc.!

you should check out my favorite 3 track thread and no it's not a the typical generic fave 3 thread you have seen before.

It also really isn't necessary to do that in the first place, because with GT4 as old as it is and the activity level here so low, anybody looking at the forum will see your thread because it will be very near the top and probably contain a new post (so it will appear in bold).

Both versions of La Sarthe are close enough that I'm not significantly better at one or the other, but if I were to choose, it would be La Sarthe I, with the chicanes. And yes, you read my post correctly; I really do never tune cars. I prefer to adapt my driving to a given car's unique characteristics, rather than to adapt the car to my driving and make every car feel as close to the same as possible. The only time I ever adjust settings is when I'm trying to win a few of the most difficult 200-point races and the car doesn't handle well enough with its stock setup to take first, no matter how well you drive. Even then, I generally use setups others have already developed, because I find no enjoyment in fiddling with settings.

i'm not one to fiddle with settings and i have found GTPlanet helpful with tune suggestions and specs so i dont follow you there. and its not 'generic' because i gave three groups to fit one of your favorite tracks into and am offering feedback and replying, if its a crime to do so i guess i'm guilty.

Of course it isn't a "crime;" it just isn't the way that discussions in threads about GT4 normally proceed. In my opinion, you make it seem like everyone is reporting to you, rather than just answering an open question. I find that odd, and was confused about why you would do so, but I have no real reason to criticize it. My original point was that there's no reason to have everyone mold their posts to precisely fit the mold of "1. Track X, 2. Track Y, 3. Track Z", because I find it too inhibitory to discussion.

What do you mean when you say you "aren't one to fiddle with settings"? You tune cars all the time! I don't follow. If I have no interest in changing cars' settings, then what does it matter how helpful GTP is in that regard? It's less that I don't want to go through the tedious process of changing settings and more that I don't want to change any setups, period, because I like to completely retain every car's character.

The reason I quoted those two posts of yours had nothing to do with whether or not this thread is unique; I completely agree that it's a unique, interesting topic of discussion. I merely took objection to the fact that you were posting an advertisement for this thread in another thread.

I'll stop here. Jonn is right; I'm way too uptight about the way you treat your threads. I just didn't (and don't) understand the reasons for replying to every post, because it seems to me to simply be a way to promote your own opinion as much as possible. But then I'm just cynical in general, so feel free to ignore me. That's probably the better thing to do :guilty:, since I suppose that ultimately, it's best for a forum to each member to retain their own character and style, so that every discussion doesn't become totally bland.

the impression i got from 'fiddle with settings' is that i just go about playfully with the settings hoping for results or something, and yes i know it's just a thread but i wasn't looking to have three favorite places listed thats why i made it track 'x,y, and z'. i see GTPlanet as a freely open forum and didn't recall a how to post and reply generic note. and your right everyone does have their own character and style and mine is to reply and add opinion back to the member, it's not to keep a thread 'bold' that's just how i go about it. i wont open or wouldn't want to open a thread and never reply back to anyone who post's and leave the thing hanging, that would be pointless. why even make a statem3nt or opinion and never leave another, but i respect everyone's feedback, opinions, and critiques as well:tup:.

1... Nürburgring!

This track, after having driven it about 36438583x still surprises me, you never know what's next unless you are about to go to the large straight.. It's nice to drive even with cars that aren't really fast..

2... Suzuka Circuit!

I love this track to guts, it has so many variation and it never gets boring for me! It's long, but not nür long so if i'm in for a nice test drive but not too long, this is the track for me 👍

3... Autumn Ring Mini!

This track is really.. mini! Driving this with small cars is a lot of fun and especially when you drive against slightly faster opposing cars because you still manage to own them by your steering :dopey:

My list goes like this:

1. Fav Most Challenging Track : Nurburgring Nordschliefe
2. Fav Most 'Walk in the Park' Track : Circuit de la Sarthe 1
3. Fav Track to Test Out New/Old Settings : Las Vegas Drag Strip (You could see that coming :D )

a) 'fiddling' with settings is in fact the way to improve your tuning in GT4, especially as opposed to using others' templates or formulae for the same (or even different) car.

b) the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) can be found here.

c) in fact, I'd argue this qualifies as needless bumping and is not really appreciated on gtplanet. If a thread runs its natural course and no interesting content is contributed, then it should fade into the background until (and if) someone finds it with the search button. A post like this ...

hey better yet !

... is unnecessary. Think of it this way: if a thread is not attracting useful posts then it should die.

Also, I PM'd you yesterday suggesting you pay more attention to spelling and grammar (see AUP above). And I will now repeat that suggestion.

Back on topic:

#1 the 'ring.
#2 none of them
#3 GVS, cause I know and love and hate it so much. 85% of my gt4 driving time is done here.
