So, who's got all 60 Golds in their licence tests yet?

54 Gold, 6 Silver. Getting there - the youtube videos have helped with a few of them as well as the samples, but some of them are giving me fits like the rear wheel drive slalom (IB-3), the wet road stopping challenge (IB-1) and the two long sarthe ones (IA-1 & IA-2). I have two of the two lap races - Deep Forest (IB-10) & Rome City (IC-10) I know I will get them soon because I've gotten within spitting distance of the 1st place cars.

For those who don't remember, 26.700 is the gold time.

Precision braking, baby...

For those who don't remember, 14.900 is the gold time.

This one took less time than the last braking test. Set the brakes to 1/1 F/R as recommended and it only took a few tries. The same technique for launching the car was even more effective this time around. If you just bang off the rev limiter from the moment it starts you get a worse launch than if you wait until it hits 1 and then go full throttle on a half count right after the one, so it hits the rev limiter once or twice before you go. I don't know why this is, but it makes it easy to get off the line with no throttle modulation.

I hit the brakes when I saw 173 km/h on the screen, although obviously adjust as necessary. Thankfully I have a G27, so I squeezed the brakes to the floor quickly, pulled back just a hair to prevent lock, and then slowly squeezed to the floor the closer I got to the paint.

Mine is currently 14.919 for the IB-1. The hand gesture you are using I normally reserve for when i get .002 or .001 above the gold medal time. I think for a couple of my golds I got a .999 and a .998

How did you make the brake setting adjustments? I don't see how to do that on these license tests.

I don't disagree concerning the hand gestures, but that was just some pent up rage at being a few thousandths of second off for about 30 minutes of trying repeatedly.

To set the brake bias you have to go into the options menu and assign a button on your controller or wheel to the RA menu (at least the options that aren't locked, you can't turn on ABS, but brake bias is not locked). Using that, in car during the challenge, you can adjust various things like brake bias, ABS, TCS, etc via that menu while driving. So what you do is you set it on one run, and hit "restart." From that point on, until you leave the challenge, your brake settings will stick; which means that you don't have to reset it every time you restart the challenge after a failure.

For IB-1 setting it to 1/1 felt best. Because it was still enough to lock up the brakes, but at a spot on the pedal travel that was very easy to find and hit some some consistency. With it set to 5/5 it happens right in the middle of the pedal travel so its hard to find the sweet spot over and over again.

Getting all golds is easy if you know how to drive. Honestly, they should have made the tests manditory. I just finished getting all golds a month or so ago, just time consuming more than anything.

I think it's less "knowing how to drive" and more "spending the necessary amount of time on each exercise and knowing the tricks to beat them." I don't think getting a silver or a bronze indicates an inability to drive.

I got all gold on Licenses. I actually tried to get all gold before doing my first race. I have done it a long time ago but I am a new member. I have done all golds since the original GT :D

I've been driving for 30+ years and the skills it takes to get golds in GT are very different from normal driving. The key to getting many golds is learning the layout of the road, which does not make you a better driver - it just means you learned the layout of the road so can find the ideal place to turn and/or brake on that one course.

BTW, that is exactly what I said. Time consuming MORE THAN ANYTHING.

You are the one who surmised I meant not getting gold was an inability to drive not me. Why can't people make comments without being pooped on all the time.

Just as an FYI, the OP hasnt been updated in 6 months. I'm not holding my breath on an update.

I don't think too many people care too much about getting their names on the list. This has become the place to go to say "hey! i did it!" Seems better than just going to the top of a nearby hill and yelling. :)

Honestly I'm not really impressed by people who get all golds while using wheels. But if you manage to get all golds with the DS3, then my hat's off to you. That is a more worthy feat.

It's not really that easy to gold with wheel to begin with.

So far I've completed the licences gold grade with DFGT , GH drum pad and GH Guitar

👍 I may never be able to complete the licences with sixaxis.

I'd like to point out and say it again:

The times for IC10 , IB10 and IA10 are calculated by combining the first lap that you get from the replay and the time at replay threatre.
On the other hand , the IC9 , IB9 and IA9 + whole S licence can be taken directly from replay theatre.

Correction , I completed the licences gold grade with sixaxis in December 2011.

Now that my DFGT died I bought another wheel (G27) , that'll be my 5th one to gold the licences with.

People who want to take Gold Licences further can submit times to Tosk's Gold Junkies - list / leaderboard.

G'Day guys, a long time since I posted here, but I thought some of you may like to add your times into the leader board that I have setup for some of us Gold Junkies for the licenses in GT5. Use the links below to enter your times.

Anyone else starting to struggle with the IA licenses?

I didn't have a wheel yet when I first got GT5 and had to get all gold using a DS3 controller. (My previous wheel had broke a couple weeks before GT5's release)

I've got all the golds last week with the DS3. Took me 3 days. It was the 3rd time I did all the licenses with gold medals (had to restart GT5 twice now) with the DS3.

MadMax is Mad. :scared:

I'd love to know how you find the G27, since I've never had another to compare with.

For my own part, I finished the 60 again with the G27 yesterday, after doing them on my main account on DS3 quite some time ago.

The real sense of accomplishment was done with IB-3 a few weeks back, tho (around previous post in thread, I guess), since I was doing them straight to gold one or two at a time every now and again this time around.
