Thanks for that, the cheaper lens looks good and the aperture is very good. Is it just the manual focus only though (not that that is an issue)?

It has a decent AF system. Mind you, the IS 2.8 from them is about $1300 if I recall correctly, but the non-IS version is very cheap compared to most L glass and just about on par.

Obviously, you'll get a better idea of what you want as time goes on. Shooting a quick prime for a bit will make you wonder about buying a zoom at all as well

Thats good to know, it wasn't clear from what I was reading.

This is pretty much why I went for just a body and prime as found thats pretty much all I used on my Lumix and rarely my kit lens.

Since you're pinpointing the X, what would 1.4 instead of 2.8 get you?

Digging the jars. 👍

At 1.4, focus and recompose can be an issue I've found. That, and sometimes a micro-adjustment is needed to get the AF spot on, but I'm not sure the 60D has the option for that.

So I've started processing my images from my Le Mans trip. I didn't take my 60D (which I'm regretting) but my Lumix proved to perform well enough in all but the night time situations. I'll be posting up groups of images as I process them and not in any particular chronological order.

Firstly though, R.I.P. Allan.

Nice shots, especially the on track shots. 👍 The rumble strip shot is perfectly lined up, and the focus is perfect on the tires.

Nice shots. 👍

I like the Rebellion nose cone picture. It's a really nice contrast between the calmness of the nose cones just sitting there versus the hectic scene in the pits around it.

Great shots. I like the 39 DKR shot. Well captured.
Thanks, that's probably my favourite shot from the weekend.

Yeah thats one of the things that caught my eye about it, the neat lined up parts (bar the missing cover on the far one) before the hectic race began.

That's the end of my Le Mans photos so back to the usual random shots now.

^Thanks 👍 Oddly that was the only photo in that batch that was taken with my older camera. Still need a bit more time getting used to the focussing of the 60D and different lens.

^ I find this last shot very pleasing. Nice, low perspective and great light. Spring is coming!

Thanks :) Spring is pretty much here for us in the UK!

We've had a few foggy mornings and walking to uni has been pretty cool

Umm not sure what you're after there, but I'm thinking you've posted in the wrong place

 Now . . . you know - imitation is the most sincere form of flattery (though it can turn sour when your fans turn into stalkers.) I think Jrichmond may have taken a wrong turn in his enthusiasm and meant no harm at all - in fact it is a rather intriguing pic he posted.

Great floral shots - I can never resist photographing flowers, too. Their very fragility and short life span always calls on me to try and preserve some of that always perfect artistry that Nature exhibits when the circumstances are right.
