Sound design improvement in Forza 6?

Friend, a most humble suggestion - you will need an amp and speakers to hear and feel the distinction or variations in pitch, tone and character between the two games. A digital sound system brings the experience alive by tapping into a noticeably higher frequency/dynamic range which lets your sound system output highs, mids and lows in the sound frequency range, as the developer intended.

No arguments please! Just get a decent sound system, doesn't have to be very expensive; then drive the same cars stock AND fully upgraded in both games.
It won't change the fact the P1 sounds more like the real one in fm6. The Laf I don't really know about, as already stated.

V8 supercar sounds are changing with update. Excited to see how well forza have replicated them.

Well hey man, you're missing out, is all I'm going to say. I launched F5 yesteday, and that version definitely has the real sound nailed for both the P1 and LaF.

I believe they had the V8 supercar sounds nailed pretty well in F4, which got only better in F5. But yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how they improve F6 over the next few months with updates.

The sound changes in this update are fixes instead of simply improvements, so sadly I wouldnt expect any more cars to change sound now.

Eeyuph.. honestly speaking, I didn't notice too much of a difference between the V8 supercar sounds although the Benz V8 car now sounds as it should. The cockpit cam perspective has been improved as well, so that's a welcome change. Nice to have the free car, handles well and great for drifting.

No volume sliders and texture pop ups still there... booooooo!

Whaaatt?! You're kidding, for me there is a HUGE difference!

Each V8 SC now features it's own unique sound, the range of Volvos, the Polestar and the P60 both sound excellent, gorgeous exhaust flutters and shift jangles it really has come alive. The Erubus sound is almost spot on sounding really good with the tranny whine too, a mean sound indeed. The Falcon has the proper grunt of it's Nascar like V8 but with much deeper personality, excellent off-high and off-mid notes too. The Altima is something different too that has really dirty, grizzly sound that is perfect. I've not tried the rest but in the showcase event with the V8SC it's a ton better! Much much clearer and easier to distinguish.

Lack of audio sliders too does seem to still be a problem but this event was the worst for it, now these are fixed, it's much better!

Special note on the newly fixed GT350R to which woah HELL YES! Sounds incredible, absolutely menacing just like it should! Now that's a V8, great exhaust note and pops and super engine note right the way high into the RPM, really feels and sounds like a major make over which thoroughly appreciated! One of the best sound samples in game so far :).

So onto the Logitech Car Pack guys, what do we think??? My review of each so far is exceptional, I am sucker for Inline 4's so I love the sound of the Volvo 123GT i think it's absolutely wonderful, I love how clear and defined and pure the sound is as well as sounding raw and strained in just that "forza way" I call it, super. The Honda RA300 is a hell splitter, a scorching sound especially up front in cockpit, terrifying note and really loud and poppy, a superb example of a well recorded sample done exceptionally well. The Limo is a bit meh, average, not terrible but not great either. The Nissan Cunningham Racing 300ZX holy crap dat turbo shift flutter...wow, that's a really ****ing nice detail it's an aggressive sounding beast that really resonates, low RPM and high RPM that turbo flutter is really really nice. 2013 Caparo T1 is a great soundin racing V8 with quick shifts and really throaty range through the RPM, very nice on the ears and the 1939 Mercedes-Benz W154 is classic vintage roaring boasting V12 goodness...man, what an exhaust pop, they don't make em quite like that anymore how glorious indeed! Free car Q60 Concept was an unexpected treat, i don't usually like super modern cars but damn it LOOKS great, sounds nice too even though by default it's a "button shifter" automatic which cracks me up...wut even, but yeah! Finally the rebellion sounds super awesome, love that V6 it has and it doesn't let down through the RPM either with some great burbles!

So that's that, plenty more cars to review but if each DLC pack is going to be this good then I'm very very happy :D.

I am looking forward to checking out the new audio upgrades. Heard the Mustang sounds really tough now as it should.

That's the third turbo six cylinder you've not particularly liked. I'm guessing you just don't like turbo 6s much?

I like plenty of V6's + turbo 6's seeing as I love the GTV-6 and the Sprint ZAGATO, i think they sound great as do plenty others.

For me I just don't like the XTS Cads sound, or more so the BMWs S6s for the most part in games. In real life however, they sound a heck of a lot better than the way forza 6 and T10 seems to capture BMW. But hey that's just me, I'm more of I4+V8 fan with a dashing of classic V10/V12 or greater engines, plus, got to love a flat-4 and the odd I6.

Edit* oops...so it is lol, was getting confused with the R-ONE. Oh well, my point stands.

@VXR No, i've heard a straight 6 though lol seeing as my friend still owns a '88 M5 I can tell you for sure it sounds nothing like how it sounds IRL, not many of S6 BMWs actually do in terms of exhaust sputter, engine note or sputter, they are meager approximations except when it comes to the I4's and V8s which seem to represented a lot more accurately.

Anyway, regarding the Logitech pack, what do you guys think?

Huh? It's a V6 Turbo and every source I read says so, care to share where it says it's a V8 because it's no where i see.

That's the 2015 rebellion. The 2014 used a Toyota v8.

Just by listening it's obvious that there's no way in hell it has 6 cylinders. Have you driven it yet?

So, my thoughts on the pack:

Rebellion - sounds very similar to a car I know I've heard in forza already, if could just remember what it was. Sounds lovely.

Honda - very close to the real one. There is a weird v8 intake noise from about 6-8.5k rpm in cockpit view and I want it to go away. But everything else is great.

Imsa 300zx - sounds pleasant, but not that close to videos I have watched of the real thing. It's more like an i6 than a v6

Mercedes - sound super sexy and spot on below 5k rpm, above it has the typical forza Ferrari classic v12 sound which sounds very meh and is not that accurate.

Volvo - love the interior sound, shouty and beefy. It seems to sound like the real one too.

Caparo T1 - this thing pretty much just shouts at you. It sounds pretty sweet at very high rpm and matches up well with the real car.

Cadillac - no idea how the real one sounds but as a sample it sounds great. A genuine suprise in the pack.

See edit, i was gonna say that's a funny sound v6 lol, i think mad max game has had me warped a bit as ive played so much of it recently lol.

It's a different engine in the 88 and 95 M5, though.

Who mentioned the 95? The 88 in game sounds nothing like my mates 88, significant levels of details in exhaust notes aside and obvious age related anomalies excluded (although it remains in superb condition) it's just no where near quite right.

The 88 is an E34 in Europe, whilst it's a 95 in the game. The engine went from 3.6 to 3.8.

Is your friend's M5 an E28?

Hmm i see what you mean.

It's a M5 E28 with the M88/3 engine, perhaps this is the issue here with the sample recorded in game. Pesky engine model types...

@gtguy i cant see the appeal of the Limo, it seems to turn to snappy it just doesn't feel all that hulking and long when driving i thought it feel much wilder, no idea about the sample either but it's not a bad quality sample by any means it's actually quite good quality, just not all that wow factor for me. No idea what you mean about the Honda at all, an intake noise sound between 6.5 and 8k in cockpit? What do you mean like a "whoosh" or something else? Rev range sounds flawless to me but then again I do have HQ 7.1 headphones and a custom extended speaker setup so unless it's a sound glitch on certain setups then, not hearing it.

The Beamers were beautifully captured and recreated in FM5.

Do you really think we'll be getting audio sliders and a general engine sound update? Doubt it. I wanna hold my little copy of FM5 and rock it back and forth before going to sleep... that's how much I love the SOUND in that game!! :D

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I only drove probably...80 or so cars in FM5?! Just because a lot didn't interest me at the time or most were behind DLC walls because i didn't pick it up on release as I didn't have an X1. I still think overall the sound reverberation and fidelity could be improved with some tweaks to 6 to make it as loud if not louder than FM5. Some cars really stand out, however just finishing off the 70s coupes with the Fiat Super Sonic man was that a bit of a struggle with drowning out, yet doing the birth of super cars with the XJ220 is a lot better so far.

I am just really happy the first update fixed the V8's, fixed the GT350R, gave us free stuff and the car pack cars sound excellent!

Voiceover lady is properly loud now. I could hardly hear her before. Reminds me of the Mrs

You can't skip her on, just have to wait till she's done

You hear it from the interior. It's the same noise that the Alfa 33 kind of had in fm5. It definitely shouldn't be there. Listen for the 8 cylinder key that just slowly gets louder then disappears completely by 9000 rpm.

I thought this was the case lol yeah she BOOMS at you now, damn.

I hate her pronunciation of the car makes too..."poo-joe" "jackwawrrrr" "NEE-SAN" SHUT UP LADY lol, maybe it's an American thing?! No one I pronounces Peugeot, Jaguar or Nissan that way lol.

And yes, +1, would help more than anything at this point.

Guys....

They have given the player's car sound a boost... wooo hoooooo!

Finally, you can hear the grunt, bark and oomph in engine sounds. This is more like it. And funny, how they didn't mention this in the update release notes.. clever, surprising us like that!

Uhhh... why has the announcer gotten so loud? *lol*

?

There been another ninja patch or something? I've noticed no difference in own player volume, if anything, it's the same, just with the example of the V8SC showcase you here your own car much louder now because all the engines are different sounding for the opponent cars as they should be.

Either way this is all good progress, it's a welcome improvement overall.

Again, noticing no difference, perhaps the update just helped out your specific sound setup maybe and thus you notice what the rest of us have been hearing since day 1 lol :P, with the help of the patch ofc.

It's being discussed on the official forums as we speak; check out the main FM6 Discussion section, first page.

Everything's gotten louder and more audible - engine idle, sound from all views, replay sound. What sound set up do you have?

I'm failing to see how a difference in sound system means that a change in audio can't be noticed.
