The first episode was typical "first show of the season forgettable" the last 2 were awesome.

Oh and SCORE!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for "200".

"Uh-huh, and Matthew why is there a transvestite donkey witch standing next to you and why is it wearing a dress?"

Well, come on, Donkey from Shrek was bound to be made fun of soon enough.

Sorry for the double post, but has anyone watched "200" yet? Honestly, no wonder Barbara Streisand is pissed off with South Park.

Mecha-Streisand is a classic. This episode was just not that great for me. I loved the rehash of pointing out how they still can make fun of everything and everyone, but Muhammad, but at the same time it was a rehash of all those jokes.

I like the story concept of everyone getting revenge on them though and can't wait to see how it ends.

I hope they don't get too nostalgic and make a two part terrance and phillip special.
That was annoying.

At the beginning, I actually thought the episode was going to be about poking fun at TV shows that just rehash the same script after a couple years.

That was annoying.

I hope not either, but it is possible seeing as there is only 2 episodes left for this half of the season.

Looks like the episode "200" caused a lot of controversy in the Muslim community... Well Muslim Extremist community then... They have been given death threats, the addresses of the creators has been posted and even the address of their production company in LA. I find this pretty ridiculous... maybe this should even get its own thread... but thought I'd post it here first since this is the South Park thread :)

The radical Islamic Web site Revolutionmuslim.com is going after the creators of the TV cartoon series "South Park" after an episode last week included an image of the Prophet Mohammed in disguise.

Revolutionmuslim.com, based in New York, was the subject of a CNN investigation last year for its radical rhetoric supporting “jihad” against the West and praising al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Its organizers insist they act within the law and seek to protect Islam.

On Sunday, Revolutionmuslim.com posted an entry that included a warning to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they risk violent retribution – after the 200th episode last week included a satirical discussion about whether an image of the prophet could be shown. In the end, he is portrayed disguised in a bear suit.

YouTube: Watch Trey Parker and Matt Stone talk about the decision

The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: “We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

Theo van Gogh was a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by an Islamic extremist in 2004 after making a short documentary on violence against women in some Islamic societies. The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com features a graphic photograph of Van Gogh with his throat cut and a dagger in his chest.

The entry on Revolutionmuslim.com goes on to advise readers:

“You can contact them [the makers of South Park], or pay Comedy Central or their own company a visit at these addresses …” before listing Comedy Central’s New York address, and the Los Angeles, California, address of Parker and Sloane’s production company.

Contacted by CNN, the author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, said that providing the addresses was not intended as a threat to the creators of South Park but to give people the opportunity to protest.

Over still photographs of Parker, Stone, van Gogh and others, the Web site runs audio of a sermon by the radical U.S.-born preacher Anwar al-Awlaki, who is now in hiding in Yemen. The sermon, recorded some time ago, talks about assassinating those who have “defamed” the Prophet Mohammed – citing one religious authority as saying “Harming Allah and his messenger is a reason to encourage Muslims to kill whoever does that.” U.S. officials say al-Awlaki is on a list of al Qaeda leaders targeted for capture or assassination.

The clip ends with a warning on a graphic directed at Parker and Stone, saying “The Dust Will Never Settle Down.”

Al Amrikee said the purpose of including the al-Awlaki sermon in his posting was to remind Muslims that insulting the prophet is a severe offense for which the punishment in Islam is death. He said RevolutionMuslim may hold protests about the show.

Calls to Comedy Central were not returned.

So, I take it they missed the point of the show? Hell, they just proved the point.

Yup, just goes to show ya....

I wonder if they actually saw the damn thing, or did they just hear about it.

They did see it... I checked that website: Revolutionmuslim.com and lurked around a bit, but I started to feel queezy reading all the garbage posted there... They have a huge post dedicated to the South Park episode and also showing all major people who have offended the Muslim religion... Like the Dutch entertainment personality Theo van Gogh saying that the creators of South Park will meet the same demise.... I dont understand how these people expect to be respected when the first thing they do is hand out death threats when they feel theyve been dissed... Pretty sad actually...

Tonight's the 201st episode, and airs in about half an hour for those in the EST timezone.

Seems this one will determine whether Trey Parker and Matt Stone get assassinated or not.

Well, to me the episode was a disappointment for a few reasons. Almost half the episode's content was censored in some portion. Even though they tried to play on that idea as funny, I found it quite annoying to only hear half the content of an episode.

Also, as soon as the episode ended, I have had problems getting on southparkstudios. Specifically now I cannot access the forum on southparkstudios. I receive this:

Muslims taking down Matt and Trey?

I was hoping that at the last second before credits, they would uncensor Mohammed. Of course, finding out Cartman's father certainly made up for most of it!

Dang it! South Park Studios can't put up their stream until they reconcile Comedy Central's bleeps with their uncensored version.

I just watched the episode! It's awesome. The end was surprising to say the least. I like it a lot.

I liked the fact, that we got to see pip killed once again. Just like the old days :dopey:

Ohhh my gosh how did I miss this thread! the 200th episode of south park was awesome, ive been counting down the hours til 201 since the last 1 finished. I hope its a 3 parter!

Oh how did kenny die in sexual healing? I cant remember!

So, did anyone else start laughing at how stupid the revolutionmuslim guys must have felt after they opened the bear suit?

Well, it involved a batman costume, a noose, and his hand down his pants.

Sorry, I didn't realize this. I added spoiler tags to my post.

Anyone think this thread should be renamed "South Park Seasons 13 & 14"?

Kind of mad I can't see the episode, I had to work the late shift last night so I couldn't see it at it's normal time. They also replaced with "Scroty McBoogerballs" for the 12pm rerun.:grumpy:

I thought the 200 two parter was hilarious, the end where you find out who Cartman's father is is really funny.

Now worries man, i'm going to see if I can get a hold of that episode over the weekend so I can see what all the fuss is about.. :P You guys got me vely, vely intelested.

Matt and Trey released a statement on south park studios about the censorship issue.

A Statement from Matt and Trey
In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.

Well that answers the question about those last beeps, but raises another one.
Why would CC do it if like they say it was about intimidation and fear?
:grumpy:

:grumpy:
Same reason why the last time Muhammad was censored on the show they agreed to put up the message from Matt and Trey about being to afraid to stand up and do the right thing. Comedy Central would rather be publicly mocked by their most popular talent than have to worry about possibly dealing with the possible violence and negative PR that would follow an uncensored showing.

This is twice now that South Park has put Comedy Central in a position of proving the very point the show was making.

The better question is: Why will Comedy Central allow all the offensive things shown toward minorities, those with disabilities, other religious figures, and celebrities but draw the line at the one that has some crackpots extremists threatening violence?

Think about it: Buddha snorted cocaine, I will not say what Jesus was doing in part 2 to avoid spoilers, and South Park once had an entire episode devoted to mocking Mormons, including having a chorus sing, "dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb," in the background every time someone explained anything about Mormon beliefs, and when one character questions the facts the chorus switches to, "smart, smart, smart, smart, smart." But just show a picture of Muhammad, or elude to the fact that the only reason why everyone avoids offending Muslims is due to the intimidation and fear of a small fringe element and Comedy Central freaks.

They got away with showing Mohammad in "Super Best Friends". And the crackpots extremists didn't say much after that was first aired. Besides, Mohammad's powers of fire was pretty cool. Honestly, if Muslim extremists can get CC to censor a South Park episode they don't like, what if the same happens with Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Scientologists (I dunno why but the idea of Tom Cruise blowing himself up in CC's headquarters doesn't seem that crazy) when they come across an episode they don't like. "Ooh, this episode says the Bible is wrong, but if we threaten them with violence, they'll pull the episode!" "This says Scientology is a scam, but if I threaten to blow up Comedy Central's HQ with 20 sticks of dynamite, they'll pull the episode!" "Ooh, this episode says that the Pope helps paedophiles cover up their crimes, but if I threaten them with driving a 18-wheeler through their studios that's loaded with nitroglycerene (sp?), they'll pull the episode!" It's how television economics works, if you get one episode pulled or at least seriously censored the whole series is compromised. If the whole series is compromised the network won't risk airing that show again. In other words, RIP South Park.

Super Best Friends was before the Danish cartoon incident, and no one was even aware this was some sort of blasphemy.

As for how far it can be taken: My copy of LittleBigPlanet has lyrics missing from a song that were present in the beta version of the game. Lyrics, by a Muslim artist, that contained lines from the Qur'an.

As for other religions/groups doing the same: Lack of true historical evidence that it could happen. If, after all that has been done to mock Christians or Scientologists would you take them serious if they suddenly got all uppity?

Something I do find a bit humorous is that if you go back and look at the Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs, it addresses what happens when you actually are as offensive as possible, but people think you are being artistic instead. That is the same episode they ran Wednesday night during their midnight running instead of part 2. It also made a blatant point about past censorship proving to be absolutely without merit a generation later.

bump!

Anyone see the towlie episode? It was brilliant. I thought they forgot about him in the 200th episode but they havent...

It took me a while to start enjoying the Towlie bit, but I was loving the Camp Tardicaca stuff.
