Space In General

Scrubbed launch is better than a failed launch.

Reset, try again.

Aawww. That was that. Shame.

Edit,

And now we wait for the trolls to come barging in.

Remember that argument about success and failures a few attempts before?

What the heck do we call this?

Still, amazing. Glad we finally got one to sit for a bit, just gotta work on those landing legs a bit.

Imagine the thrill of landing safely on the Moon or Mars, then only to have the ship explode seconds later.

At least people with Tesla's could hail your death as a victory for disruption over legacy space agencies.

Also...

Well the Starships that will land on the moon will not use Raptor engines. Either way, they won't be putting people on these things until they are reliable enough to do so.

So, uh, this would have helped if it was working properly...

AJ Foyt used to marvel at the crappy workmanship and welding on the Lotus cars he saw starting to appear at Indianapolis. It appears Elon Musk follows the same school of design that Colin Chapman did.

Elon is not a fan of the current leg design. They're working on a better version. Nothing wrong with the welds here, they just didn't lock into place like they were supposed to.

If this thing is supposed to be crewed at some point, I'd think maybe the not exploding part is more important than the leg part. If you have a leg failure, explosion is... less than ideal. Obviously get the legs working too... but the exploding is its own concern.

It wouldn't have exploded if the legs worked properly.
