I have created this thread to talk about these challenges and events. I have Golded all of these challenges up to Level 17 except The Rally world and Sebastian Loeb events which I have yet to try.

I have found some of these to be harder than any license test so I think it would be nice to have a central place with tips and tricks of each level.

To start off with I will post some tips for the World Tour events which I personally found were quite tough.

I can also do an update on the top gear challenges which are tough as well.

Who is having trouble?, I'm sure many can help.

World Tour Event:

Tuscan at night, Learn the track and Know which corner is coming up and how tight and when. Once you know that it should be far easier to pass and catch the leading cars. Because the track is so dark you have to use things like sign boards or even your GT5 Track map to know exactly where you are, but once you know the track you can push quite hard.

Eiger with the Alfa 8C.
What can I say? that 1'17.000 is a tough time, I really found no secrets to this one other than learn exactly where my braking points are and just try to drive as fast and smooth as possible. Its probably the first test where I have left Traction control on 1, just helps with the launch and power out of the tight corners. Be careful though its very easy to get sideways and as much fun as it is in GT5, sadly its a lot slower. I felt I had to get to know this combo very intimately rather than a couple of tries like so many others.

I also got gold on that Rally track too.
I probably did no less than 8 - 10 laps 2'54.0 - 2'54.4 before finally nailing together a 2'52.9.. I mean, where the did that come from? Dirt feels pretty dodgy at best in GT5 but I find the major tip is to remember your racing lines and try to stick to the inside with a slight angle of drift, Enough so your not understeering but your not looking for any D1 points either. Nice and smooth try to follow the line guide in terms of car placement.

Monza and Rome were incredibly easy by comparison, just learn where the AI go and you can quite easily pass them before the end of the race.

Has anybody golded all of these events? How did you find them?

Yeah I have I am currently on a silver with about 1.5 secs to go.

The Lotus Elise intermediate TopGear challenge is tough I am really struggling to get the gold with that as well.

I am dreading Gold at the Nurburgring AMG challenges in the wet that could be the last thing I manage to get in the game if I get that far.

edit: Managed to get the Gold in the intermediate Topgear track. YES

edit: got the Gold in Grand Tour Tuscan Time Trial - 1:52.678 not as hard as the topgear intermediate though

I find the AMG school really easy. Sometimes I do 1 sec better than the gold time (I am only on intermediate).

The Lotus challenge is tough but I know I can beat it.

Its the damn Euro tour that is killing. The rally challenge and the Murci challenge. I can get silver but gold is eluding me.

I've just started the Grand Tour, the race at Monza was really easy, I'm doing the Toscana in the Murcielagoa the moment. I'll have to re-do the Alfa at Eiger, that was damn hard. Then again I find the gold times in the AMG driving school challenging.

Can someone tell me What Track you Unlock when you do the Intermediate AMG Driving School all Gold? I unlocked the Nord & Nord Type V, But wondered what you unlocked when you Get all Gold on that Event? Maybe Nord Type v 24 Hour Ver?

How many of them did you get a sec faster than gold? I did it for the 1st one but the 2nd I thought was pretty hard.

Beg-
1. AMG Nord 134.466
2. AMG Nord 220.493

A bit too easy. When you sometimes gold a challenge first try and silver all others first try that's too easy, I think. :grumpy:

The most difficult special event i have so far is probably the elise top gear test. The 8c wasn't very bad, but it did take me 2 tries to get it down (first try was off by 0.1xx). AMG Academy with the SLS has no challenge what-so-ever when i finished with 19seconds to spare for the full course and 4 seconds to spare on average for the each 4 sections.

I'm the other way around, once i managed not to get disqualified the Lotus event was a walk in the park. The AMG event has me way off the gold pace and for life off me i can't figure out why.

I;m struggling with this too...even on the first corner the car starts fishtailing lol

Same, first I have gold but the rest for both beginner and intermediate I can only manage silver, even after many many many tries. Tips, paskowitz? ;)

The TopGear elise one is absolutely maddening! That elise handles like a bloody shopping cart. I've found that if I can drift the first corner JUST right I can pass 2 of the other cars right there, but as far as catching the other racers on straightaways goes, it just seems that it's impossible for my elise to catch any sort of drafting, it's like my car is downtuned compared to the other racers.

What position should a guy try to be in when hitting lap 2 to have a hope of victory? The last section of the track with the faster wide arc turns seems to be fairly brutal as my Elise seems to like slipping all over the bloody place instead of holding traction to keep up at all. I've even tried running it with all driving assists on!

This x100... I can't believe this Lotus handles so poorly. I turn the wheel slightly and BAM it starts sliding. I can only brake when the car is perfectly straight else the rear end comes around on me. I've given up on beating it without assits. Going to try it with ABS and traction control on... and maybe even skid recovery if I'm still failing.

Edit: OK! Skid Recovery makes it much much easier. If anyone else is having trouble controlling this stupid little car.. turn Skid Recovery ON and maybe add some TCS and ABS and it's do-able.

For the full lap versions I was 15 seconds under gold on beginner and intermediate and 20 seconds under on advanced? As for each of the smaller sections I averaged 2 - 5 seconds under gold time.

They are quite easy if you know the track well.

You can make it starting second lap from 5th. Keep to the inside of all the corners and use the other cars to help brake you if necessary with a little sideways nudge to ensure you keep track position.

I think that is my problem, it feels like I am flying but I am still relying on my map to show me whats coming up I'll just have to practice it harder.

Golded all the Karting challenges, golded all Top Gear Test Track Challenge, Golded all AMG driving school up to Advanced (still only level 20), Golded the Gran Turismo Rally up to Intermediate. Currently having difficulties with the Alfa 8C on Eiger, 1'17" is hard to top and the closest I've gotten is 1 1'17.905 with no aids and ABS set to 1.

*EDIT* Just got gold on the Toscana/Lambo

That's all well and good, but the AI in mine seems to be set to "jerkface" as 9/10 of my races they'll do something intentional to DQ me. They've spun me out onto the grass or into cones COUNTLESS times, cut in front of me when I've tried to pass on a corner and I even had one slam on the brakes during the straight section causing me to rear end him and DQ!! I wasn't even NEAR any kind of turn yet. Seriously needs an actual difficulty setting, this must be impossible without a wheel!

Blasphemy!

Trust me, I don't know what Polophony was on at the time but the Elise in GT5 is possibly the most inaccurately created car I've ever seen.

I'm having serious issues with the snow event in the Loeb challenge. I'm driving no assists.

Top Gear track was difficult, but I got gold after I took the advice from last page and switched on skid recovery.

Lamborghini at night is driving me mad. I can't seem to catch that 430.

I'm still on the stupid Samba bus challenge! Only got the game today and every time I bump a cone or even slightly cut a corner I'm disqualified. I did however see an AI driver take out about 15 cones on a straight!

Isn't it on daft tyres?

I believe so. An Elise on sport tires in real life can bring in 3+ Gs. Simply orgasmic.

I actually had a pretty bad headache after riding in my uncle's with him at the wheel. :S. Too much grip for its own good.

You can't hit the solid orange ones at all, the striped cones are more forgiving. But youre not alone in your frustration.
