Blasphemy!

Trust me, I don't know what Polophony was on at the time but the Elise in GT5 is possibly the most inaccurately created car I've ever seen.

Oh yeah, I know Elise are crazy cornering machines.. somewhere between a regular car and a go-kart :sly:

But the one you have to drive in that Top Gear mission is just... dreadful. I know it's on crappy tires but c'mon... even on $20 tires you can at least turn the car a little bit without sliding into oblivion.

I don't know about that. After having serious trouble with this challenge I decided to learn to drive that thing in Arcade Mode. I turned off all assists and used the worst tires (comfort hard) and it still handled _a lot_ better than the Elise 111R in the Top Gear challenge. So either Arcade mode uses different physics or it's not really the same car OR that challenge is screwed up. But I'll still keep trying until I get it

Aaaah this AMG challenge is killing me !
Yesterday and today, i only drove the Nordschleife. on Intermediate i have gold on every sector, but on the total round i got 7:05.867. Just 0.8 seconds too late :(
And now i guess i am addicted to the nordschleife, cant stop driving it. so amazing, though i miss that 0.8 seconds

Now I have golded everything except the top tier AMG challenge.. My ranking is 22, I need to get it to 24 to unlock it.

Whats the fastest way to improve my ranking from here?

The second Top Gear challenge with the Elise is ridiculous. I noticed the Lotus cars in Prologue were also a handful but THIS is ridiculous. Using a DFGT and I think the main problem is the braking is so ridiculously sensitive and even when I feel as if I'm pushing the pedal in slightly, the on screen bar says I'm braking over 50%.

Normally I feel like I've got a pretty deft touch, but this car is unreal in how shamefully bad it handles. I thought Lotus' were brilliant handling wee cars.....

So far the special events that require you to overtake cars have just been awful to me. The AI is completely scripted in these, which means they will always ram you if you're not careful, sometimes getting you disqualified even. Where's the fun in that? The A-spec races are great, but these events are just frustrating.

Scripted to slam on the brakes on a straightaway when you're trying to draft them so you slam into them and get disqualified? :dunce:

I don't have a steering wheel and my hands are quite limp, so whenever i try the nascar challenges(intermediate) i either hit the wall or get silver.

This time attack at Eiger with the Alfa Romeo in Special 1, I have a gold video of it, third-person view, like that you see the braking points better, etc, it's up in 20 minutes, I'll post the link here, hope that will be helpful to some.

Edit: It's up:

Does anyone know how to unlock nurburgring?
I got silver on all beginner AMG events, do I need to gold it? or do I also have to do intermediate (Im only level 11)?

You get GP for for silver i think and 4 hour for gold.

Advanced you win cars. A160 for bronze, C63 AMG for Silver and a AMG SLS for gold.

How do you get gold on those first 5-6 (beginners) Nurburgring with a Sixaxis controller??? I'm like 7-8 seconds off!! Only just managed to scrape silver on them all!!

I was up to 5th going into the Folow Through this morning, the car in front of me threw a cone back at me. Some how the cone launched my car straight up?! I was to POed to to even think about saving the replay. Haven't had a problem since.

I'm struggling with a wheel as well, I am pushing like hell and have only managed the first 2 on gold in beginner and advanced the rest silver.

Some people on here are saying that the AMG event is quite easy but I just cannot see where the time is.

Thanks,
So If I do silver, Il get both GP and 4hr (Including nordschleife, since its bronze), or just GP?

Does anyone know what the advanced prizes are?

I just Silvered the Intermediate and got:
Nurburgring Nordschleife
Nurburgring Nordschleife / Change Weather / Change Time
Nurburgring Type V
and the two GP's

I'm currently having a hard time on all Top Gear challenges and SE,
I usually have an attacking style of play, so I'm having a hard time not sliding out, hitting a cone or even cutting corners to gain positions.

I would appreciate some feedback or hints on how to pass these events.

The other cars are scripted. So if you can figure it out just move your car through and around them.

Decided to commit some time to golding the Intermediate AMG Challenges this evening - blimey, it's pretty tough  To gold the four sections, you get 427 seconds... to gold the full course, you get only 425... and with 15 cars on the track to pass thrown in for good measure :irked: I've managed a 424 (7'04.3xx to be exact) in the 4 individual sections, and can even get the first sector faster by about 1s, so I have that to play with atleast :whoopdeedoo: But alas, I haven't made it to the end of the second sector with anything like the split I need, which I figure must be 3.17'... let's not even talk about the third section split :ill: Anyway, I reckon it is worth the struggle - to open the 24 hr time change course... that said, the 4 hr circuit you get for completing all golds is pretty epic... no weather or time changes (can live without the weather, but really want the time changes!), but the crowds are fantastic, not to mention the full version of the track aswell

O.K what gives....I've done all specials events gold part from a couple on AMG i know the track fairly well i know whats coming up but still only manage to gain silver :|

Does anyone have driveing options they used or any tips help would be very welcome lol.

BTW, does anyone know how to say "GET OUT OF MY WAY!!" in German? :irked:

Interesting. I found that driving the full track allowed me to achieve considerably better times. Maybe it was the fact that it allowed me to carry my speed from section to section (which explains the difference in total time of all the sections vs. the full track) or maybe it was just easier to get into a rhythm. I've golded all of the full-track laps (except the Expert one, which I'm yet to try) on the first try, even if I've struggled during the sections.

My advice to someone having issues
-Forget the red gear guide, it tells you to slow down for corners that you can take flat out in a gear above
-Memorize the track (duh)
-Be gentle with the throttle on the rainy tracks
-Don't panic at the end of the circuit and don't take stupid risks to pass the cars on the track.

Yeah the Intermediate AMG school full track was kicking my butt last night. To be frank it was the only thing I played yesterday for like an hour. Gold the 4 individual sector by 3rd try for each of them and gave the full lap only 2 go and I am still stuck around 7:12-ish....interesting point by Touring Mars though, I was thinking about adding up the required sector time to see how fast its asking me to go comparing full lap to individual sectors. I had trouble with the Beginner school with all the sector test barring the first one yet I beat the full lap easy.....weird....

I can't beat the intermediate Top Gear challenge. I've tried it so many times I don't even know how many attempts I've made. I'm wondering if I ever will. I can't even bronze it. Also I can't try it too much because it makes me absolutely hate the game which isn't what I want to happen.

If anyone has some good tips on settings/strategies to beat this thing I'd love to hear about it.

For the full lap versions I was 15 seconds under gold on beginner and intermediate and 20 seconds under on advanced? As for each of the smaller sections I averaged 2 - 5 seconds under gold time.

They are quite easy if you know the track well.

I'd love to see that.

I just did the first 4/5 Beginner AMG events.

I'll Gold the 5th tonight, but there is no way your doing that.

I use a wheel, manual trasmission and no driving line. I was pushing that 57 merc to its limits to get the gold and sure as hell not beating it by 2-5 seconds. Your bsing. or your using a controller with all aids on.

I'm doing the advanced AMG school, the other ones were easy, including the 300SL in the rain but an SLS AMG in the rain with comfort soft tires is kicking my butt. I managed to get gold by 2 seconds on the first one but only managed to get silver for the second sector by a second... and that was at 6 in the morning.
