speed 12 = crap?

Ok, you think wheelspin is good during the curves, ok, but if you think a speed 12 is good to learn people how to drive, you're very wrong.
You obviousely didn't get what any of us were saying, don't use the full power of the car until it's controlable. That means less throttle round most corners and ease onto the throttle when accelerating through the lower gears. It's not a beginners car, it's probably the hardest car in the game to drive to it's full potential, but if your good enough you can win evey cup wth no power limits and you can lap midfield in well under a minuet, I did.

my name is more of a joke, im not into drift racing. i feel stupid that the prize car list is there, im sorry. the speed 12 is good for one thing though, after you win it you can sell it and get 500,000. so i guess im an idiot.

wat i do with the speed 12, i juss keepin winnin it on a race (forgot the name of the race) with my escudo, jus win it and win it, keep gettin the speed 12 and jus sel them. i have around 16mil on juss sellin speed 12's

Now I understand this thread, one thing is true, speed 12 learn people how to use properly the throttle., specially how to stop wheelspin. But, to learn how to gain in the curves, theres is nothing better than an underpowered car, try win races with a car less than 300 hp in races of 500 hp.

that's true to a degree. Using an underpowered car will tech you how to drive and underpowered car quickly, but it will teach you little about throttle control and racing lines for high powered cars, as the power increases you've got to use an increasingly slow in fast out driving line, rather than a more even apexing technique required of a lower hp car. that may be detrimental to a degree when you just in a high powered car and try to use low power lines

No, the Speed 12 isn't a beginner's car. Nobody's implying that!

But after you've mastered some of the finer machinery in the game, it's time to take what you know, throw it out, and start all over again with the Speed 12.

I'd advise perfecting one's skill with FR cars, and certainly MR cars (the Speed 12 acts like it's mid-engined at times) before plying your trade with the Speed 12.

Start with some non-race, non-tuned (well, maybe a race tranny...but normal tires) FR cars with considerably less power, and work your way up with more power. Try the same with some of the MR cars, and you'll get the hang of it.

Then try your hand at the Speed 12. Lap times at RacingLine.org haven't proven it to be the absolutely fastest FR car (the TVR Cerbera LM usually wins that title), but it's right up there. A clean lap with the Speed 12 is nearly impossible, but it's fun to drive on the limit with 800hp!

The only way to push it to the limit is making it don't wheelspin, because you need control during the curve, but it couldn't let you control the throttle so well with the wheelspin. Without wheelspin, speed 12 can be a really hard opponent.
But there is another way to pratice the control of the throttle, the another way is DRIFT with a fr car, it need very control with the throttle and with the steering.

I can drive the Speed 12 and not wheelspin fine, you need to be easier on the throttle or your settings need some work. Drifting the Speed 12 is not advisable, it's not as fast and an 800Bhp FR car that weighs 1000kg's is not ideal to drift.

Impreza's Speed 12 setup theory...

1: Crank that final drive WAY UP! If it can top 250, gear it so. It won't spin wheels through all the gears this way!

2: A very light car on stiff springs is asking for trouble. Bring those spring rates DOWN! You won't blastoff on every bump in the road this way!

3: Put the racing mod and set the downforce to the max! If you can't pass 180 on the straightaway, what's the point in trying to win on the straights?

I didn't say to try drift with a speed 12, I said to try drift with a fr car, like rx-7 fd or fc or a AE86.

Right, you said it in the same sentence thats why I though you meant the Speed 12. On another point, Impreza Sti's post says you should put the final gear alll the way up. Don't, it might reduce the wheelspin, but it's reducing the speed your car accelerates, reducing the speed your car rev's and reducing the speed you can get to the power when you want it. Just learn to control the throttle.
