I was talking to a guy earlier who has a really nice B5 Audi S4 (a stock looking silver saloon like your old one) and he said how much he loved it. And as he drove off at stupid speed 👍 I was surprised how nice, as in properly nice, it sounded for a Turbo V6 engine.

Did you like your one a lot Sean?
The B5 Audis will always have a special place in my heart I wish I still had mine. I keep thinking about getting another one (an A4), but they like to break down and cost an arm and a leg to repair.

I've always wanted an old Audi 90 or something. Or a C4 S4. Or an S2. Really any <1998 Audi. :sly:

:D

Dat ass, I want all of dat ass :3.

Very nice plates, those plates here would set you back somewhere near 20grand plus just as a guess .

Pretty sure those are shopped like previous posts, or he's just very lucky since in the US it's first come first serve with a flat rate IIRC

WRC plate is real. I got them last week. Didn't cost me anymore than a regular plate either, and youre right motortrend its first come first serve. WRC surprisingly was available!

That is surprising indeed, I need to check if "AMG LOL" is still available for when my dad's M3 gets a supercharger in a couple of years

I can't believe that combination didn't cost a gazillion dollars, and was available. Can you get plain colours or do they all have to be coloured like that?

I couldn’t believe it was available! The special plates in the US cost the same as standard plates, except (at least in CT) you have to get standard plates first and then pay again for the special plates. The number of characters doesn’t change the price either… you can get 1 letter or number, to almost any combination of 6 letters or numbers, so long as it is available and not something inappropriate.

CT has around 15 different style plates, but all are basically the same colors just with different little graphics on them. Like a tree... Or a lighthouse… Even a dog. Yeah it’s weird.

The less letters you use here the more expensive it is as they are getting quite rare. This letter 'S' number plate is a legitimate $125,000 .

But who would pay that amount for "S"?! I mean I kinda understand 1 through 9, all of which were probably sold for ludicrous prices. A quick google search tells me the world record is somewhere around $14 million for "1" in Abu Dhabi. Sheesh.

Another quick search I got this, In Connecticut... "Numbers 1 through 10,000 are under the control of the commissioner of motor vehicles and are not assigned at random." So no one here is going nuts over the low digits anyways.

Turns out here in the US we are guilty as well for paying wild amounts for plates. In MA, "A real estate broker paid $675,000 in 2007 for plate number 11. His family now holds a portfolio of 20 plates with a collective value of $3 million."

I don't understand the desire to have such a plate, or the ability for a plate to gain value as an investment.. But it happens.

I'm happy with 90WRC lol

Your plate influenced my decision to go for WRC. I figured I'd keep it general... to transfer it to my future Stratos, GT Four, Evo, and so on. :sly:

Best. Plate. Ever.

Good choice. I too, am surprised you could get it. It really fits the car too. I love the subtle things you have done to the car. Nothing over the top and still keeping to the factory styling.

I'll be needing a new clutch/ flywheel soon (within the next few months). Which will be a massive and expensive pain in the arse.

On a side note I thought this was cool to see. Walking out to my car at work all the Imprezas were lined up in order from newest to oldest. Just need a GC Impreza and we got them all. :)

Also I find it funny that on the STIs the hood scoop gets progressively smaller as the cars get newer. :sly:

As of today, I hit one year of ownership! 16,000 miles I've put on it since, driving it every single day for 11 of the 12 months. I can honestly say it still is as fun to drive as the day I first drove it and I can't wait to drive it some more.

But this year things will be different. It likely will not see snow again as I don't want it to rust into the ground just yet. The winter took a toll on the car as I am finding out now as I clean the car up for Spring... there are new dings and dents all over, and I just don't like the chemicals my state puts down on the ice, who knows what that crap is doing to the car. So I'm getting a second car, a beater to drive all next winter. Probably some small pickup truck to throw my bike in. Better yet, that 2.5 RS I've always wanted! We'll see.

No, the car will not be some garage queen... because I don't have a garage... but I plan on driving it a majority of the time still. Plus, if you ever tried commuting 30-40 minutes in a car with hard, uncomfortable seats, with a loud exhaust and stiff suspension, you might want some time away from it too. ;)

The best way to make your car more special is by not using it as a daily. Those times you do drive it are just that much more special, and it stays in better condition for longer.

Great shot, by the way 👍

Agreed, though that doesn't mean you can't get a fun beater. (not implying you wrote he should, just adding to it)

Oh I dunno about that. ;)

Look at the damn thing! Her heart's breaking as you're typing these words, I can see it in her eyes! :sly:

But seriously, a base-ish Impreza or even a Legacy would make a good daily while you keep the fun stuff for the best times. Congrats on 1 year of ownership mate.
