It certainly gave some food for thought as to what may or may not go on behind closed doors if you guys ever have top secret "management meetings".

I've just found a thread about a race next week using the Miata Roadster which most of us have tested & tuned recently for our main event.
The guy organising it, Smiley, is very involved with our partner groups for whom Manny has made videos. I won't be able to make it but it should be a good race, give it a look. 👍

So I don't ask for a lot other than clean racing and respect on the forum...
.... and less ice in my drinks of course

and I know this will maybe get lost in the shuffle of Main Event Week....

BUT - I have a proposal to throw out there that could maybe be a tiny component of our casual nights for our event planners to consider...

As much as I like our PP ONLY restrictions... Sometimes it gets a little screwy when you see a detuned HSV running against Nissan 350z and a Civic Touring car. (ideally I'd like race car only races and road car only races - but I'll pick that battle another time)

my proposal (and it doesn't have to be every week - we could sprinkle this in when we want ) but just something along these lines of:
1 race
our normal 5 laps
ROAD CARS or RACE CARS only... meaning if its a Road Car Race you can't use any Race Cars... and vice versa.
400-575pp could be the range for ROAD CARS
and 550pp - 650pp could be the range for RACE CARS
The event planner will pick the PP and the Class of Car as part of their event agenda.
no vote for track though - We always use our home track of Trial Mountain
....oh and the car you use for this race you cannot use for any other races that evening.

just throwing it out there... I know casual nights don't like to get too complicated... but I'd love to get back to the idea that Thursday nights are less about winning and more about showing off different cars they have bought or tuned that week and seeing how it does in competition. This race could make it so that we race against similar looking cars but also if you have that 480pp car you LOVE - just know you now have to pick which race you want to use it in...

if no one likes this - then my vote would be that you can only use a car once an evening ( I liked that aspect of a previous event )

ok my VIKINGS GAME is about to start and I need to count if I have enough beers......
enjoy your Sunday and see you all Thursday!

he can do that all the other races of the night - this race I've suggested is trying to avoid just that....

yes! - maybe just this one race - so that we can see the Tacoma dust the GT500 cars in the "car show"

but sometimes I wanna use some of my 570pp road cars - but know someone is going to use their space ship and even though I don't care about winning all the time - I also don't love coming in 11th all the time - just so I can try to see if a heavy jaguar can hang... I'd rather lose to a Tacoma if I'm in a jag than to someone driving a car they ALWAYS use or some detuned 787 -- and then have it always be the same track we all know and have a reason to USE our home track...

OB STOP using the WASHING MACHINE!! lol

It is true that when is a RACE with a pp level with no car restrictions the race will be uneven, but we need to keep in mind that is JUST a CASUAL NIGHT RACE.

Maybe we can work on "ROAD CAR" & "RACE CAR" since it looks it would be a fair race... But we need to keep in mind that not a lot of the members don't Have 500 cars in the garage. Example is Mazda, he just lost his data not so long ago so I am sure he doesn't have a big selection of cars like the rest of us do and that goes for the NEW comers as well.

We need to make sure that we keep a mix formula of CASUAL FUN NIGHT with REGULATIONS cuase that's why we have "TJGER ENDURO EVENTS" for.

Thanks for the feedback and we will make sure that we will do our best to resolve this issue guys

same feeling I had when I first joined the club when they say XXXpp and round up I was racing against a Senna F3 with my XXXpp road car....

but then it's only a causal race thus what the heck.

if we want more fair and square race then we can have more one-make race.

Also, I notice a de-tuned race car is not necessary faster than a well tuned road car... so many times my GT500 got fly-by by some F-XX or those pinkish Murai... :scared:

And so many times you see Gordon competing top-3 with his vintage domestic.... :scared::scared:

we could, in some of the races, specify it's road/race cars only, in fact, I believe we've done this before.

I try not to use the same car twice in a night & even mix it up week by week but that's been down to my personal discretion. Where I finish in any given casual race has no importance to me whatsoever. Sometimes I'll be in a car that I know performs well at a certain pp level because it's fun to be fast & fun to finish high up occasionally. I wouldn't mind at all if extra regulations were brought in but can't help wondering if we can't achieve the same effect just by collectively & individually remembering that casual means casual & maybe emphasise the "car show" aspect of it a touch more.
In my 1st week at Spinning Arrows i used a Chrysler Prowler & Mario Andretti's 1948 Hudson. I also used various tyres throughout the night & only started using RS in every race a few weeks later so that I had more chance of battling everybody at various stages of the night & not just Tarkus for last place.

Here comes more Tarkus jokes

 Monday Nov 17th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST the PSN network will be down for maintenance.

Plan accordingly and back up your saved data.
Here's a link I'm sure there's more out there.

Hopefully its good news for us.

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/artic...work-down-on-monday-for-scheduled-maintenance

Thanks for the info Tjger!
Hope they fix "some" of the PSN problems like the one me and Tarkus had cause that was just ridiculous :grumpy:

I hope they fix both main serious issue:

1) Failure to enter the room
2) Some drivers are invisible to some.

Ok, everyone calm?

Let's keep the basic formula of Casual Nights intact. Some basic settings like PP, VFT, and race or road cars.
Some of us still don't have every car to satisfy every race requirement.

I don't mind parking on the side of the track and watching you guys drive. Its usually an indication that my car has no gas and I full of liquid fuel.

Its Casual Night. Its a way of bringing in new members and having fun.

So....

Who's backed up their progress in the last 24 hours?

If tomorrow holds true and the PSN is down for six hours. Don't start complaining if a bug in the update deletes your garage.

How many of you have checked your PS3 for dust in the vents.

I have 38,000,000 credits I can't lose. I have to buy every car you guys will drive in my Events. I can't complain. I spent 12,000,000 credits on just this DTM race.

If we decide to put restrictions on Casual Night then it becomes a Main Event or Grand Event.

Five laps. Seriously? Five laps is all you have to do. The Grid order is ...reverse order based on previous race results.

You start on Pole. The winner has to start at the back. Five laps.

Next year you have three two hour Grand Events with two of them at night. You don't have time to complain.

There's no reason you guys can't start another thread geared towards your favorite style of racing.

Some of you guys have already created your own rooms tailored to a specific car or PP limit. 👍

I wish I could attend everyone of them.

If your bored check out page 83 in my sig. Go to YouTube and watch Manny's videos.

Ok, I got to go. I'm in conference with other race organizers.

Casual Night is my night off out of the office. Don't ruin it for me.

Bottom Line. You guys are experiencing pre-race chitters.
So find a way to blow off some your energy.
Exercise
Ensure the fridge is stocked
Shovel snow
Get out of the car. ;)
Read what other gtplanet members are discussing. 💡
