Well after a long weekend of tearing things apart and putting things back together, the racing rig is back up and running. I included pics with the lights on and off in the mancave. My camera phone doesn't do the picture justice. It is so awesome that I can't even put it into proper words. I watched some movies and some concert videos on this thing and I was just blown away. When the Mrs. heard about what I was going to do she thought I was crazy to do this for a video game, until she came home and saw it all set up. She is now wanting to go out and buy more Blu-Ray movies so we can have movie night at the house. Everyone that saw it was really taken back by how big and clear the image is and I'm sure that it had an effect on some of the husbands who are trying to figure out how they are going to swing something like this in their own houses. The pic above is with the lights on and you can see my old TV next to the screen for comparison. The old TV was a 50" Sony. The new projector produces a 126" screen. The pic below is with the lights off in full racing mode. See you all soon.

Wholly cow! I am definitely stopping by Stocks place next time I'm in the Cleveland area whether he likes it or not. Between you and Ole I'm just not sure who to drop in on first.

Damn, I should buy 80" tv now.
TV competition :bowdown::cheers:
This was much cheaper than buying a big screen TV. $450 for the projector $40.00 for the screen, $25.00 in lumber to make the screen frame, $10.00 for a 25' HDMI cable and $25.00 for the ceiling mount for the projector. It will be difficult for me to buy another big screen TV after trying this thing out. Best money I ever spent. Very happy with it's performance during the day or night. Cough, Cough, I think I'm coming down with something. I might need to go home and lay on the couch for a while, LOL.

what is the upgrade that allows you to go 114 without even being seated....

THATS the one we should be most concerned with!!!!!

Well, we won't speak of that now.......................no, I took it from a replay.

Not even 600 that's good:bowdown::cheers:

According to the screen image.
He's in 16th position so you're right. ....it would be easier to see you coming up to lap him. OUCH!!:lol:
The way I'm driving, I'm in 15th. OUCH!!

I had a feeling you guys would start asking/getting ready for this Grand Event. The Announcement Sheet is in work.

The PP limit will be 600.
The HP limit will more likely be 580. This will help even out the competition.

TIP: The cars have a multitude of engine tuning options to get the most out of the car.
The transmission will play a big part.
So pick a car that YOU enjoy driving and start practicing.

Starting with the Aug 7 and Aug 14 Casual Night. We will hold a five lap race session at Suzuka. This will give everyone an opportunity to compare times with the competition.

If you intend to race on Aug 28th, it will be to your benefit to attend these two practice sessions.

Ok some more details on the Grand Event.
The race will begin at either 8:30 or 9:00 PM EST....Sharp. The BOSS will let me know. This is for those who have requested it. Most of us usually arrive in the room around that time.

Aug 7 and 14 Casual Night will feature a 5 lap race. Use it to judge your car's performance against the competition.
This is because there will NOT be any practice before the Grand Event. Most of you remember the Lemans race and how much HP you lost at the end. 90 minutes on one oil change is going to be brutal.

So the night of Grand Event(Aug 28th). Take one last look at your car's settings then pull your car out of your garage and sit on pit row. The race will begin when the button is pushed and the starting grid will be decided by the magic elfs working the race.

Ok guys, question time again.
The Grand Event is still some time off.
I was debating with myself wheather I should type up something about what to expect during this race.
I would discuss the track, the cars, and some tips that some of you may not have thought about.

Sort of a Driver's meeting with suggestions on race strategy and car tuning.
I don't consider myself an expert, but I just might have some tips you could use.

OR

I could open up a room this weekend and you guys could take notes/questions.
OR

Both

You guys decide.

Open up a room so we can do some practice! 👍

I wouldn't mind an updated post on elig cars/pp/hp/restrictions on tires or pitting etc...

the details I found a ways back made it seem like not all GT500 cars can enter??

so any updated/additional details would be helpful...

Ok, the excitement is building faster than I can drive.
First. The race will be 50 laps.

Second. the car list is set with the exception that the Base Models can be used.
I would have liked everyone to use the actual race cars. It would have made a more realistic video.
However at the price of 950,000 I can't expect everyone to purchase a second version.
Yes there are more cars, but they from the JGTC(Japanese Grand Touring Championship series.
That race will fall under the Historic race series. 1999-2001 JGTC

The Performance Points will be 600.
The Horsepower will be 580. This to slow down the Hondas ... a little.
There is no weight restriction because all the cars weigh in at 1100 kg. The only car is the Motual GT-R 1130. kg.

Race day conditions will be sunny. We'll build up to weather a little later.
Night racing will also follow.
Tire and fuel will be normal.
Tire compound. Should we challenge ourselves and turn it on? You guys decide.

Penalties will be strong.
Visible damage off
Mechanical damage weak.

Race start Grid start.

TCS and ABS only.

Hopefully that answered all the questions. Let me know if there's anymore.

Suzuka
Ok here's my view of the circuit and what you need to tame it.
First you should drive the circuit in a slow car and soak in everything. Notice the main straight is down hill. The 'Ss' are up hill. The run off areas. There are only three. Turn 1, the 'spoon section, and the high speed R134 corner.

The first corner of any race is always crucial, but not the end of your racing day. Pole position will line up on the outside along with grid positions 3,5,7,etc. You have an advantage. You have the runoff area to use if a bottleneck develops at the start. Use it or risk getting bumped badly. Those of you in grid positions 2,4,6,etc. you are on the edge. You have nothing to escape the mayhem. Your survival hinges on getting to the corner and establishing a line with all four tires on the track. Don't even attempt trying to ride the inside curbs. Those behind you will try to squeeze a pass around you which will end up forcing you into the grass.

The 'S section. Learn it and understand it. It is uphill. Patience through it is your friend. If the car in front shuts the door, respect it. Choose another section to make your move.

The section leading to the bridge can be tricky with a sand trap waiting for you.

The hair pin. You want to hit this corner perfectly. Because the next sections will be all about speed.

The Spoon. It has a runoff area. Use it. Straddling the short strip of grass between the track and the runoff is asking for trouble.

R134. Get it right and you carry your speed to the final chicane. Get it wrong and the runoff area is your safety net.

The final chicane. A tight S which should be labeled 'short cut' penalty.

That's a brief summary of the track. I'll leave it up to you to find the other characteristics unique to Suzuka.

Cars. Pick the one you enjoy driving. I'll either be driving a Lexus 430 or a GT-R. Each car will have it's own strengths and weaknesses. Each car can be tuned in a variety of HP/Torque configurations. Power to weight ratios range in the low .90s.

Transmission, transmission, transmission. I can not say it enough. The gears you choose will decide everything. There are numerous gear tuning methods out there. Use each one and test. They're great. However, Suzuka is a different track so some gear ratios will need to be individually tuned. The Ss section is uphill. Yes GT6 will model you car going up hill. Don't lug the engine down. You need to watch your HP/Torque curve and tweak your gears accordingly. Use the data logger. Its amazing what it will reveal.

Manual vs Automatic. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. After 50 laps the real manual drivers will reveal themselves. I'll be using an automatic tuned to shift like a manual. Sorry that info is still classified.

Fuel will play a part. You need to know how much a splash and dash is.

If we were running teams it is possible to run 50 laps on one tank of fuel.

Tires. Always a factor in every race. If you screw up your settings the Ss will tell you. Front tires will take more punishment than the backs.

Down force. You will need it. So test with both low and medium settings and watch your SECTOR times.
Don't concentrate your tuning on overall lap times. Suzuka demands a balanced approach. You can not tune for the high speed sections and ignore the slower sections.

Braking points. Huh, as the race progresses your braking points will change. So don't concentrate on the young lady in the stands with the two large..... Big Gulps. She may not be there next lap around. They need to be refilled.

Engine health will also play a part in your overall race strategy. All of us lost HP after only an hour of racing at Lemans. Suzuka is no different.

Pit stops. Use them to gain an advantage. If you find yourself behind a slower car, pit and open up a clean track in front of you. My team will call me in three times. The pit window(s) is classified.

Ok, enough of me talking. If you need some experience and cash. Go to the International A races, scroll down to the Group GT 3 races. Suzuka is the last race. At 200% log in and five laps to win you should get a good idea what your doing right and wrong. Then compare yourself online AND USE THE DATA LOGGER

You may want to print this out.

In two weeks we'll run our Main Event. Tour of Japan. Manny has a great trailer for it. 👍

Aug 7th is Casual Night with Grand Event practice/race.
Aug 14th is Casual Night with Grand Event practice/race.

If you intend to race the Grand Event(Aug 28th). It would be to your benefit to attend these two nights.
You are not committed to a single car during these practice/race sessions. Use these sessions to compare your car against the competition.

Aug 21th is a Casual Night.

If I can offer a suggestion.... I feel more testing is needed to determine the correct limit the HSV should have so this doesn't turn into a HSV event.... My versions of GT500s has the slowest of my HSVs crushing my fastest other GT500 car by 3-4sec... (Detuning the HSV to the estimated 580hp/600pp).

That car it beat isn't even on the "approved list" (NissanZ GT500)

Also is any car with the label GT500 1100kg and 600pp invited...

Edit.... I got a GTR within 1.899 but that again was my slowest HSV
