Spintires: Mudrunner/snowrunner

Is there a way of increasing the star allowance? I would like to try the E-7429 on downhill but it's a five star truck on a four star map. Any help would be appreciated. (I'm on PS4)
You can use the E-7429 but you won't get any achievements, if I remember correctly. However, you can't increase the amount of 'Game Balance' stars.

Started playing the game again a few days ago. Currently going through the challenges (only three left), as well four more maps (the free DLCs included) to complete and still plenty of trophies to get. Should keep me busy for a good while. Love this game so Mudrunner 2 being in development is fantastic news.

I’m also already planning on getting the physical edition of American Wilds. In case you guys have missed it; click here. The Community Manager confirmed it to be real.

I bought this on Xbox during a recent sale and fell head over heels for it. Who would have thought delivering lumber would be so fascinating? I've played through the first 4 maps on casual with Downhill and Deluge to go. I have all but the first challenge to complete and then have the hardcore versions to do.

I think my favourite thing so far as been tandem towing two medium lumber loads to a mill at a time. That and finding and unlocking all these unique old beasts of machinery for use.

I will absolutely be in for the sequel.

Last night I picked up the game again too, and discovered I never got around to playing the Ridge DLC. I opted for the C-256 for a hardcore one-star run, in case I needed the crane for the new "scavenger" gameplay. The randomizer ended up giving me a K-700 so that wasn't really necessary, but the C-256 was still more useful than the two C-65111s the map offers you.

The different gameplay format is interesting but the K-700 and paved roads made it too easy to make much difference. I'm gonna have to replay the map and go exploring to really get myself into trouble. :)

I missed this article when it came out. This is truly the biggest surprise game I never knew I wanted before I got the PS4. It seems to be a real ‘love it or hate it’ type game. My wife just looks at me like I have 3 heads when myself and my two buddies have an online game night and play this for hours on end. It usually starts off doing a hardcore mission and devolves into something like what happened the other night - my brother in law went to ‘help’ my brother when he was stuck in his small Jeep-like vehicle. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard when he literally picked him up in his loader (K-series I think?), drove him to a cliff edge, and deposited him off the edge.

I can’t say enough good things about this game. My father AND my father in-law, both who don’t play games, loved this game. I agree with @wolfsburgraz - who’d have thought such things would be fun?

@Wolfe - I think we share a love for Nintendo, if I’m not mistaken. I heard this was coming to Switch? Is that true?

That's what they've said, but that's all so far. It seems to me like it would be somewhat physics-intensive for the Switch, but we'll see.

I just found this on twitter from July 31st. It’s the official Mudrunner account, answering a person who asked about Switch

“The Nintendo Switch version of Spintires: MudRunner is currently planned for this year, correct!”

Great story @Benny44, I wish some of my friends owned this or that my other family members played games.

I wanted to share some poor quality cell phone pics. I know this is nothing special for the veterans here but they were exciting times for a new player to the series.

This was from my first time trying to ford a river when I started the game, and doing a very poor job of it, haha. I ended up tumbling down the river some, eventually rolling onto my wheels in a shallow section and was able to start the motor. 200+/300 damage, sparks and flames shooting out the back and the most ragged idle ever, but was able to bring it home for repair. I know I could have "recovered" it back to the garage on casual but wanted to get there on my own.

Finding this thing on the Deluge map was awesome, such a beast! Guzzling 25L/min of fuel at full throttle (probably more on hardcore), crossing lakes and rivers with the greatest of ease and hearing the demon warble of the motor. Just great!

I love this game. I still have to finish the last two stock maps plus the free DLC ones, then do it all again in hardcore.

Preordering the next game the instant it is available.

I love that 8 wheel monster! And, I’ve been there with the upside down thing. There’s a trophy I believe for rescuing your abandoned vehicle underwater.

It’s such a good game. I can’t wait until American Wilds comes out.

EDIT - I'm sorry, I didn't see that this post was made on August 23. Some of you may have seen it already.

We're very excited to be able to unveil more officially American Wilds, which introduces nine iconic American vehicles, from brands such as Ford, Hummer and Chevrolet! This will take the total of vehicles in American Wilds up to over thirty, with the total game having 60 add-ons, ten sandbox maps and eleven challenge maps at launch too!

In American Wilds, you'll be exploring new terrain in the United States in two maps, Grizzly Creek and Mount Logmore, inspired by the rough environments found in Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota. You'll overcome muddy terrain, raging rviers and other obstacles with up to three players in multiplayer.

Taking a Freightliner on some of these terrains sounds like a bad idea but I'm looking forward to this!

I'm in so much shock that they're choosing my home state as part of a map location!!!!:bowdown::D

I hope they've managed to get a Raptor. Just a total change from the slow, meticulous approach.
Raptor would be nice and quick....until it hit the mud and water:lol:

Compared to these Russian beasts, it’s got nothing:D. But it sure will be fun. Would love to have a Ram in there as well

Oh God, and I see a Humvee used too for the DLC. Oh yeah, there better be some Jeeps too, a Wrangler at best.

I doubt it, it doesn't look like they have an FCA license agreement. If Chrysler was still part of Daimler they would though since I believe they own Western Star.

I'm really curious what vehicles they've got in this expansion. While I don't mind the slow, meticulous approach, I would love to see some faster and more capable vehicles that are more akin to rock crawlers.

Picked it up cheap but was surprised there is no wheel support. Am I doing something wrong?

There is only native wheel support for a handful of wheels... from memory I think the list only includes a couple of Thrustmasters?

My GT3RS Fanatec wasn't supported so I had to map all of its myself, but once I did it works pretty well. The menu to do it was a little funny, I had to re-map several of the controls a few times before it changed them correctly. But then it was good, everything including FFB seems to work right.

You can only shift normally if you have an H-Pattern shifter though, you can't use paddles. Without one you have to use the game's odd controls to switch between a couple of low range gears and Auto mode(which makes the brake switch into reverse)... but most of the time you'll be in the lowest gears anyway. I have to use my mouse to shift but it's a pretty easy adjustment since I already use the mouse to look around.

At least it let me do that... when I tried Forza it would only let me map it as a controller so nothing worked right.

I have it on PS4. I should have said that when I posted

Short notice, but there's a stream starting in 5 minutes about American Wilds. If you don't catch it live I'm sure there will be a VOD available afterwards.

EDIT #2 - VOD removed for whatever reason.

There have also been some posts about the expansion and some vehicle presentations recently.

Tbh I like this game very much, having completed all maps in hard core mode with one red star. I feel this is a challenging game, wish there was more like these on the PS4.
In fact I liked it so much I've now got it on PC plus Spin Tires too.

Have they given any indication of the price of this expansion? If so I must have missed it. It seems too meaty of an update to give away for free. Either way, can't wait! Just a few more days.

Some of the vehicles are going to be downright nasty to get around in if it's primarily off-road again, so many don't offer AWD.
