spoilers

Why on some cars are the spoilers way to big for them?

Spoiler equals downforce, bigger spoiler and you get more downforce :D

Wonder how much faster that ricer could go without that windshield-sized spoiler?

Answer... NOT MUCH...

Just ask me, I used to have one... :dopey: (I wasn't the one who bought it!) ...it doesn't create enough downforce to slow you down, so you can still hit top speed (which is about 112 mph, :indiff: )

I've seen what chevguy is talking about, lol...

I was racing a 9 hour enduro in my RX2 last year and in the 9th hour I was following an old Datsun, and his wing was doing that.. That's after 8 hours of flat out racing though...

BTW, The spoiler on my RX2 puts out so much downforce, that if I adjust it to max downforce, I can't get the car above 200kp/h. Normal downforce and the car will hit 240km/h

Makes a huge difference.

haha... that's if your car is fast in the first place and if it's a properly adjusted spoiler. :nervous:

I've seen wing flexing on spoilers that are stock. I've seen it on many prev. gen. Accord V6 Coupe's with the little Type-R like spoilers on them and once on a WRX STi on the highway (I'm guessing it was going about 80 MPH and the wing was jumping all over the place).

i wonder if the "flapping" is caused by the flimsy trunk lid springing under the pressure of the wing.
the trunk lid always seemed like a bad place to mount one of those silly things.
isn't there an old engineering phrase, something like; its only as strong as the weakest link.
well... mounting a wing to a weak hunk of sheet metal, just doesn't seem very sturdy IMO.

That is Hilarious! I had a history teacher in high school about 7 years ago, who drove a 68 Camaro. He was on his way to Chicago, driving through Montana on the highway when a cop pulled up next to him and pulled him over. The cop then proceeded to ask him if he could drag race his cop car against my teachers Camaro! It's too funny.

Dude that's so awesome!

A couple days ago the cops helped me break into my car, I left the keys in the ignition for the first time - 30 miles from home. I called my dad and asked him what to do and he said "grab a coathanger." So I'm out there in the midday heat for 20 minutes with not much luck and 2 cops pull up :dopey: Good thing I'm white or I'd be in jail trying to explain myself

as opposed to the whale tails that are on Turbos? Hmmmm... tough call...
