Hi guys and girls, this is just a rant because I'm so annoyed right now!!!!

Just completed a few of the Gr.4 daily races at Kyoto and the amount of dirty drivers is seriously unbelievable!!!

Deliberately ramming you off the track, using you as their brakes, brake checking so you hit the back of them.
To make matters worse, you get your SR rating reduced, not them!!!

It's seriously a disgrace, and completely ruins what is usually a fun race series to take part.

I don't know how they can fix it , but PD really need to do something about it, and quickly.

Sorry for my rant, I just needed to vent. Moderaters can delete this thread if they want.

I'm just so p*ssed right now!!

Yea, well, I'm with you on that. I just tried to do the Group 3 race at Alsace. Four times.... in every race I got rammed off the track. The two worst incidents were when I slowed down and moved to the outside of turn 1 to let a faster driver by. He made it fine, but the guy behind rammed me, I went from 9th to last, and got my SR downgraded. The second incident was at one of the sweepers. One car went off the outside of the turn, ghosted, came back on the track and hit me, spinning me into last place again and I took another SR hit.

It's only my second week on GT Sport, I have a B/B rating, but I tell ya, the racing was cleaner with D/C drivers.

You just have to have good racecraft. If we are basing this off personal experiences, well, I went from 15th to 4th in one of those Gr.4 races today by being quick and avoiding incidents. It's all down to the individual. it isn't something you can teach to be honest; it comes with experience and calmness.

I really just think it's luck of the draw on who you get matched up with tbh... I've hardly had any issues with dirty racers. I'd say out of every 10 races or so I've had maybe 2 or 3 incidents where somebody was deliberately being dirty. I'm in B/S for reference.

I try to use good race craft, if I see a car coming up the inside, I'll give them a little extra room, I like to race cleanly. But if they go a little wide and hit me, I still take a SR hit which is completely unfair.

The whole brake checking thing though is a complete joke!!
Heading down the pit straight, right up behind the car in front to get a slip stream, then BANG because the car in front hits the anchors for no reason.
I take an SR hit, plus lose all of my momentum so drop places while they get off scott free.

I agree brake checking is a 🤬 move, but to play devils advocate, the person following should have enough space between to prepare for braking and be able to avoid (in most cases)... I suggest racing clean as possible and getting yourself up to SR S because it's pretty clean up here and a much better time imo.

If you are following them close to get as much slip stream as possible though, you don't have a big amount of space between you.
You can't avoid it if they brake half way down a straight.

The game should know if the section of track you're on is a full throttle section (EG a straight), then any braking there and the car should ghost right away.

Ive struggled with the same thing not long ago, as other people advised me, the only way is to STAY COOL, even if you lose your position you rank up your SR, I did just that, plus finished like 3 oval races without touching anyone and got promoted to rating A, since then I dont have any problems with dirty drivers.

Ahhh... didn't realize this was occurring to you in the middle of a straight. Again though, only recommendation I have to get yourself out of this issue is to work on increasing the SR.

I can definitely wrap my mind around that. My issue is the same many of us have in that someone rams me and I take the SR hit. I finally finished a race at Alsace just now. Same guy hit me 4 times and I got my SR downgraded. I even moved out of his way and he hit me. So the question is, does the game register and remember your SR during the race, or only after the race has been completed? I'd much prefer to quit and enter another race, but if I've already been affected, might as well finish it and get some credits.

When the daily races switched last night, I hopped into the Gr3 race @ Alsace, I did not get a chance to set a quali time, started 10th, finished 5th with the fastest lap of the race, avoided all contact, got the clean race bonus and everything. I guess what I'm saying is I'm in agreeance with the other's with good racecraft makes a huge difference.

I started the evening with a B B ranking and on the up, but two races on Alsace has dropped my ranking down to D E.
Both races where a total wreck fest, deliberately smashed of the track, I hit the barriers and spun and got hit by two others before my car ghosted, 10 second penalty plus Orange SR markers. Second race much the same. I race clean, but unfortunately the lobbies have morons who think it's cool to just wreck, a clean pass means they will ram you at the next opportunity it seems.

I’m afraid it’s just not that simple,,, the drivers in SR S are out and out dirty,,, at first I assumed it was racers with controllers but several times tonight at Allsace racers deliberately smashed into me as we were going down a straight in order to put me off the road. Two races like that coupled with my first ever network error (twice) and a blue screen crash with the crash report sent to sony,,, saw me drop from DR B SR S to C A normally I would come back another night,,, but kids are away so decided to grind back to where I was,,, the racing to get back to B S was a joy, I would say the drivers were cleaner than S ranked drivers and I achieved 6 clean races in a row,,,, You can have the best racecraft in the world but when someone is out to get you,,, generally it screws up your race and ranking.

Yup, I'm SR S, pretty much always have been and I've seen more than enough dirty driving. Must be a nightmare lower down the Sr!
I'm not amazing or anything but I hate when you are racing against people who are clearly just not very good at racing. People that can put in a fast lap for quali but just have no idea how to race with others. Guys who maybe aren't intentionally dirty, but just make really bad choices and end up ruining your race by doing something stupid.

But hey ho, we've all had our fair share of stinking races against muppets. Just got to try and ignore them and savour the good races.

Exactly that!!!

Oh I've had plenty of good races. Just annoyingly, it's the bad dirty races which are the ones that affect you.

I said in my first post my rant was over.....

I'm still ranting lol

If with you, especially today. I effecivy got rammed of the track by 5 different drivers in the same race, all deliberate even when I tried to get out the way coz I knew it was coming. One crashed, so overtook and this time I saw him divebombing so I didn't turn and he went straight off but then next corner a different guy got me. Worst I have seen it today.

Please PD do something to demote all drivers where you can obviously work out they took someone out on purpose. If we could stop the blatantly obvious then it would help.

I know its really annoying because the system isnt perfect, however i do think its worth spending this 1 hour of driving completely clean, avoiding any contact to get promoted and avoid the average nfs driver. I mean even if it does happen in div a or b the frequency of this is so low it doesnt affect your rating that much.

@wiretap07

What's your SR? It kinda matters for the discussion and you didn't tell us.

If you're expecting clean racing on lower SR ratings, well, you're dreaming a bit. Get to SR S and then you'll have better races. Not free from dirty driving but way more rare.

I ran like 6 GR4 races today, the first race almost made me not run any more, it was not pretty.
The next 4 races were awesome, great racing, nose to tail, in and out passing basically almost no contact anywhere except the occasional rub which did not affect the pass for either driver. Great races.
I actually knew better than to enter a GR4 race on the NA servers prime time early evening on a Friday night. I wish for that one I had of listened to my gut instinct and never entered. I have never been run into and hit so many times by so many different drivers in one race since I have been playing this game. I knew better and entered anyway, will not make that mistake again. by the end of that race I was seeing red!

Exactly that!!!

I’m sorry, but if you have played more than 10 / 20 races and you can’t obtain an s rating then it’s not just the folk your racing with.

Admittedly you will get the odd race and on occasions there back to back, where people seem to want to take you out no matter. But 90% of the time this is still leaps and bounds over a what has been on offer for decades on consoles.

I can say that cos I’m proper old

Even SR S races arent all that clean to be honest. Still plenty of people at S that go for stupid divebombs, cant overtake without making contact or are blocking, weaving and running people wide to defend. Some may do it on purpose, some may do it because they know no better, some may just lack experience in wheel to wheel combat or made a genuine mistake. But it still happens allot even in the fastest lobbys.

Just don't quit the race. The system penalizes you heavily on SR in case of quitting. On Thursday my connection went down by some reason, when I was leading a MX-5 race at Yamigawa, at a moment It was a clean race, without a wheel off track or any touch and I was demoted from a solid SR "A" to a SR "B", just because I "quit" the race. There are reports of bigger downgrades even, as I believe your SR negative points during the race are still considered, remember the other guys keep racing, the race doesn't stop because you quit.

It's been a while since I encountered any particularly nasty behavior on track. I usually only do two or three races a week total but DR.B / SR.S and qualifying in the top 8 generally seems to be enough to put you in the well-behaved part of the pack. There might be a little contact here or there but it doesn't seem to be enough to disqualify the clean race bonus, let alone lower SR.

My suggestion would be to try and qualify well. People who do that are usually more familiar with the track and are less likely to make mistakes that cause incidents. There's no guarantees but if someone is 8-10 seconds off the pace, chances are they didn't spent much time qualifying and don't know their way around the track very well.

I spent a lot of time complaining about how my SR was getting screwed every race. I mean I try to really race clean but almost every race I was hit from behind, front, side, you name it and I'd been hit from that direction. I spent weeks in SR B, ocassionally dropping to SR C and I was too pig headed to even entertain the idea that maybe there was something I was doing wrong. I finally started saving replays and spent a lot of time going over each bad race over and over again. And what I found really opened my eyes. Out of every 10 times I got a negative SR, about 7 times were my fault. The remaining were either unavoidable or SR system failure or someone who just wanted to mess with me.

For instance, if there was a corner that I took on the inside I'd blame the guy who turned into me for my -SR indicator, but after watching and re-watching I could clearly see that I had moved across into his line, and actually caused the incident. My -SR was totally my doing. If I was getting bumped from behind, after watching the replay I realise I was breaking a little earlier than optimum, just because I was so focused on not overshooting the corner. I understood that I was guilty of being the same people I was pissed off about after dirty races. Took me a lot of work and a lot of laps to change the way I drive. I've gotten faster (Almost DR B now) and I've hit SR S. Of course there are still morons who will intentionally try to mess with you but at the moment that can't be helped.

and oh yes like @FerrellJ said qualify higher up the grid.

PD promotes it. The consequences for horrible driving should be a lot more severe. That's the only way to curb dirty driving, but it's PD, they have no sense of direction or idea what they're doing so it's expected.

@ceres2000 - you have just explained my experience to a 'T'.
I've not had anyone "intentionally" hit or mess with me in Dr.B/Sr.S... not saying it doesn't happen, but so far so good.
Yes, I've been bumped, but in all, I believe is was small oops moments, and twice the bump'r has held up and given me a bit of breathing room before making another run... a virtual "whoops, sorry" type thing.

I think avoiding the 3and4 lap races has been a big help as well. The 1st and 2nd lap hard charging mentality is not as prevalent in the 10 lap races from what I've seen... or maybe with 10 laps my subconscious just lets the hard chargers through... knowing I've got plenty of time to let them mess-up/wear tires and catch them...
Hmmm... maybe it's "me" again ???
We've come full circle on this.

@ceres2000 and @cleanLX , yes I went through the same journey c/w inward look at my own driving. However in the past week there has been a marked rise in intentional bumping, definately not racing incidents.

I was having a nice little race at Alsace last night until a guy in a John Player Special Porsche came though and bumped me, then put himself in a wall, then bumped past me again, rinse and repeat for 2.5 laps. Im taking SR hit after SR hit and this guy is apparently getting off scott free. Went from SR A to SR B and I'm sitting here like "I just wanted to get my daily miles before bed" hahaha

edit: also, in this race I counted 11 RSR's out of 16 total vehicles. 11 chances to win and a Viper took the W. Bunch of loseRSR's
