the best racing simulation is Sports Car GT!

i tried Race Driver from Codemasters, but I don't like the driving physics (is this correct english?). I can't check up the velocity in the curves!

I think SCGT has a good (but old) physic, but i love it!

do you know if i can drive SCGT over internet. I tried it with an ADSL and a 56K modem but after some times the connection was lost. next week I try it again! do you know which port is used by the game?

are there SCGT-Clans? I want to start a little contest ;)
so if u interested, let me know!

Anyone here still have the old MASpuce tool sitting around somewhere? I need it to get the Mosler out of the game but everywhere I've looked has came up empty handed,

Great game, play on highest difficulty with stock car, qualifying and practice for maximum pleasure.

Dang. You folks making me want to play and make stuff for SCGT- even for a 20+ year old game! But yes- especially the PC version of Sports Car GT is classic. I still say rFactor wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the mod appeal of SCGT. So definitely get this game and play it to experience one of the finest simulation racing experiences ever.

I have been playing Sports Car GT again recently, but mostly for study purposes. The goal of my recent runs with Sports Car GT is to learn track modeling as well as make completely basic material. Then of course, step up in weight class (so to speak) and go for more complex projects. A number of rFactor material have been from SCGT conversions. So I am taking that initiative to finally develop what I've planned years ago- modeling a race track. I am mentioning rFactor a lot, but that is because I figure if I can make a decent track in SCGT, I can then try to convert my work to other games- rFactor, GTR2, maybe Autmobilista, and maybe even Assetto Corsa.

I am not totally comfortable playing SCGT on my Windows 10 PC. There are a number of different issues I am trying to iron out, if I can. Here's my todo list. I feel I want to play SCGT windowed. I can play SCGT in Direct3D, but the game lags in the menus and in the in-game action. So I am almost basically stuck with software rendering. And for some reason, the only material I can bring up is Sardian Park with no options for night racing and/or rain racing.

Sports Car GT is a game I still would recommend for any and all PC racing gamers. Don't let the fact this is a 1999 game deter you from thinking this is one of the finest sim racers ever made. It has withstood the test of time even though later games have far exceeded the capabilities and character of SCGT. And I keep saying rFactor on out wouldn't have been possible without SCGT and the modding community that made SCGT a great mod base. So go get this game if you can!

Recently, I was able to get Sports Car GT to work windowed and with Direct3D. There is a wrapper program called dgVoodoo I learned of that allows you to play certain older 3D games properly. So I no longer have to use the Software renderer to play SCGT smoothly. Sadly, I can't play the game decently in 1024x768 under a full screen. I am now mostly relegated to 640x480 and having to look at the top-left of my screen to play the game without the game slowing down considerably. I even made sure to test the game under a number of settings. Most notably, wet night conditions with 16 cars to a track. With all of the patches and such to play SCGT on a modern PC, I could try to do 24 to a track, but chose not to. I am still stuck on only having Sardian Park to choose from among tracks. I can only do so much.

Even still, I am fairly enjoying my postmodern experience with an almost 20-year old game on a Windows 10 PC.

Somehow, I was able to finally get to race on courses other than Sardian Park. I had to input the code that unlocks all cars and tracks. I hate that I had to input a cheat to get everything to work; but, whatever. Even previously-installed courses shown up in my track list. However, I still have a problem not being able to run a GTQ season. So I seem unable to play a full career starting with GTQ. I can't access the GTQ season or even buy GTQ cars. Now if you're not familiar with SCGT, GTQ is the lowest class of competition in the game and features the weakest cars.

Still some good times rediscovering SCGT.

I managed to run SCGT in Linux without any noticeable hiccups. Without music and limited to default controller configuration, but it still plays fine.

Try running it in DGVoodoo under Glide. SPGT was still released far enough back when games using DirectX was still a formality rather than how you actually wanted to play them. I've had better luck since leaving Windows 7 running it in Glide than I ever was trying to run a wrapper for DirectX; which even natively was kind of an iffy prospect.

I have to say it again, playing with a stock car on any difficulty level other than normal is a great challenge. The only negative aspect is that on normal cars the races are too easy, but on the next difficulty level, the AI receives a big speed bonus which on some tracks is discouraging unless you play without a single mistake.

And how come I can't check weather or night driving in quick race mode? Is it because I play on Linux? So far every single race in GTQ to GT1 class was in clear weather.

Lastly, I installed my first mod car into the game, it is quite fun! :dopey: Can anyone recommend a good website with mod cars, preferably vintage ones? All the links I followed via RSCGT website are invalid.
