I got this from the official NFSU2 site~
Greg: Players were asking to custom tune the performance of their vehicles. Guys go out and tinker with stock cars and throw in an adjustable coil over suspension and they can change their shock dampening and ride height and all this cool stuff. So we're doing the same thing this year, giving different parts that you buy which unlock the tune-ability of your car. There are 20 different areas of the car that you can custom tune and you can actually custom tune them for each mode in the game. The way that people in real life get their car to drift really well involves a whole custom setup on their suspension and their different tires and their brake bias. In Underground 2, you can save that out for your car and when you enter a drift event, it will use that custom setting to help your car score higher in the drift events.
(Greg is one of the producers......)
Well at least they are doing something to the tuning... (Is this old news?)
And also......
Greg: Last year what happened was that in a drag race, the amount of NOS was just right- you get a certain number of bursts at short intervals, you can't just NOS through the whole mile. In a circuit race last year, you had 3 or 4 or 5 laps and you didn't have enough NOS. You could use it in a few corners or if you wiped out or something but then you were pretty much done. No matter how well you drove during the rest of the race, there was really no payoff for the style points that you were getting. The year, we decided to just incorporate that style into NOS. So the more flair you have, the shortcuts you find, the close calls with traffic, getting air... all those things that are really cool will actually benefit you in the amount of NOS that you have and give you better times. We are an arcadey racer, and hopefully it will encourage driving with style rather than just finding the exact racing line and not doing anything unwarranted.
Yep..... Can't complain about the arcady physics... Because it is and arcade style game... I hope people would stop bashing the game for its physics... Just understand the game concept was based on the arcade style.. Not a simulator... (Same goes to Midnight Club 3)
